Abstract
Purpose
By integrating insights from cognitive style literature and person-environment fit theory, our study aims to explore which type of entrepreneurs are more inclined to initiate humor behaviors, the circumstances under which such behaviors are more likely to be employed within entrepreneurial teams and the specific benefits of humor behaviors for initiators.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper analyzes humor behaviors in entrepreneurial teams through a three-wave time-lagged field survey of 227 entrepreneurs in China.
Findings
We find that entrepreneurs with higher creating style are more likely to exhibit humor, making them more popular within entrepreneurial teams. Additionally, the positive relationship is amplified in the presence of high levels of conflict.
Originality/value
Previous studies provide substantial evidence of the positive effects of humor behaviors on their recipients in the workplace; however, there has been limited focus on the antecedents of humor behaviors and the benefits for the humor initiators. Our study addresses the gaps by providing empirical evidence that creating style of entrepreneurs may promote humor behaviors, particularly in the context of conflicts within entrepreneurial teams, and such behaviors could elevate entrepreneurs’ social acceptance within teams.

Abstract
Purpose
This study discusses the tracking trajectory issue of the exoskeleton under the bounded disturbance and designs an useful tracking trajectory control method to solve it. By using the proposed control method, the tracking error can be successfully convergence to the assigned boundary. Meanwhile, the chattering effect caused by the actuators is already reduced, and the tracking performance of the pneumatic artificial muscles (PAMs) elbow exoskeleton is improved effectively.
Design/methodology/approach
A prescribed performance sliding mode control method was developed in this study to fulfill the joint position tracking trajectory task on the elbow exoskeleton driven by two PAMs. In terms of the control structure, a dynamic model was built by conforming to the adaptive law to compensate for the time variety and uncertainty exhibited by the system. Subsequently, a super-twisting algorithm-based second-order sliding mode control method was subjected to the exoskeleton under the boundedness of external disturbance. Moreover, the prescribed performance control method exhibits a smooth prescribed function with an error transformation function to ensure the tracking error can be finally convergent to the pre-designed requirement.
Findings
From the theoretical perspective, the stability of the control method was verified through Lyapunov synthesis. On that basis, the tracking performance of the proposed control method was confirmed through the simulation and the manikin model experiment.
Originality/value
As revealed by the results of this study, the proposed control method sufficiently applies to the PAMs elbow exoskeleton for tracking trajectory, which means it has potential application in the actual robot-assisted passive rehabilitation tasks.

Abstract
Purpose
It is a complex and dynamic process to provide high-quality rural infrastructure. However, there lacks a holistic performance evaluation method for rural infrastructure provision that reflects changing rural social needs and takes a village as a whole. This study aims to develop a holistic and dynamic performance evaluation model for rural infrastructure in Mainland China.
Design/methodology/approach
This study established an evaluation index system by combining the lifecycle theory and the economy, efficiency, effectiveness and equity (4E) theory. This study developed an evaluation model by using the analytic network process (ANP) and matter-element analysis theory (MEAT). The model was validated by two representative villages in Mainland China.
Findings
The developed model can reflect dynamic social needs and effectively evaluate the overall infrastructure provision performance of a village. The weight of indicators reflects the changes in Mainland China’s contemporary rural social needs, with particular emphasis on the impact and output performance. The evaluation result shows that the overall performance of the representative villages was excellent but had a tendency toward good. Although the output performance was excellent, different input, process and impact performances resulted in different downgrade trends.
Originality/value
This study provides a theoretical basis for disaggregating the complex issue of the performance of rural infrastructure provision. The results can be used by relevant authorities to make a holistic and dynamic evaluation of the performance of rural infrastructure provision and timely revise planning and management policies.

Abstract
Purpose
A high-fidelity simulation platform helps to verify the feasibility of the controller and reduce the cost of subsequent experiments. Therefore, this paper aims to design a high-fidelity hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation platform for the tail-sitter vehicles.
Design/methodology/approach
The component breakdown approach is used to develop a more reliable model. Thruster dynamics and ground contact force are also modeled. Accurate aerodynamic coefficients are obtained through wind tunnel tests. This simulation system adopts a mode transition method to achieve continuous simulation for all flight modes.
Findings
Simulation results are in good agreement with the flight log and successfully predict the state of the vehicle.
Originality/value
First, the effects of the propeller slipstream are considered. Second, most researchers ignore the parasitic drag caused by the landing gear and other appendages, which is discussed in this study. Third, a ground contact model is implemented to allow a realistic simulation of the takeoff and landing phases. Fourth, complete wind tunnel tests are conducted to obtain more accurate aerodynamic coefficients. Finally, a mode transition method is deployed in the HIL simulation system to achieve continuous simulation for all flight modes.

Abstract
Purpose
Sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) are recognized by scholars as the most important class of bacteria leading to corrosion of metal materials. It is important to use the properties of microorganisms to inhibit the growth of SRB in the corrosion protection of metal materials and to protect the environment.
Design/methodology/approach
In this work, the behavior of anaerobic Thiobacillus denitrificans (TDN) intracellular enzyme inhibition of SRB corrosion of EH36 steel was investigated with electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, biological detection technology and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.
Findings
Results showed that the SRB crude intracellular enzyme affected the corrosion behavior of EH36 steel greatly and the purified TDN intracellular enzyme inhibits SRB intracellular enzyme corrosion to EH36 steel.
Originality/value
A perfect enzyme activity inhibition mechanism will provide theoretical guidance for the selection and application of anticorrosion microorganisms, which is of scientific significance in the field of microbial anticorrosion research.

Abstract
Purpose
There has been a huge fluctuation in online marketplace that suggests inconsistencies of m-commerce usage. The study investigates user behaviour to continued patronage of m-commerce and the mediating role of perceived value.
Design/methodology/approach
The study aimed to use adapted questionnaire and online version to pool data from respondents that has internet profile and conducts m-commerce. The hypotheses were proven through the use of structural equation model.
Findings
In this paper performance expectancy and user satisfaction are major determinants of continuance intention to use m-commerce in African context while perceived value partially mediate the relationship between the variables.
Research limitations/implications
Cross-sectional survey and the small sample size that was used calls for caution in generalisation.
Practical implications
With the mediating influence of perceived value, attention is directed to the role of value perception of m-commerce users. Keeping and increasing continuance usage requires pleasurable offerings and value indices that influence their subjective perceptions.
Social implications
The significance of the mediating variable highlights the social value dimension of users' value perception given that it can help to deepen the continuous usage of m-commerce.
Originality/value
The predictive power of 78.5% continuance intention demonstrates inclusion of factors with better predictive accuracy. Importantly, the significance of perceived value as a mediator demonstrates the importance of valuing not only the direct impacts of the variables but also the indirect roles that impacts continuance intention of m-commerce in African context.

Abstract
City wall is an important symbol of ancient Chinese cities with unique geographical and cultural characteristics. Thus, the preservation of this historic landmark is considered significantly important. However, numerous residential construction activities and changes in ecological environment have destructed a great portion of the city walls in recent years. This study looks into the preservation of the ancient city walls from the systematic perspective and in line with the actual characteristics of Longdong Region to provide guideline measures for the protection and restoration of such landmark. Cognition and preservation are adopted extensively to investigate the specific situation of and the factors that influence the ancient city walls in this region. Preservation strategies for the city walls, including the “Axis-Point” system, planning control, and authenticity readability, are presented. The ancient city walls in Longdong Region can be preserved by protecting the entire region, the city, and the main wall body. The systematic method and preservation strategies at the “macro perspective,” “medium perspective” and “micro perspective” levels can solve the preservation problems of the ancient city walls in Longdong Region effectively.
