Abstract
The authors offer a unique theoretical model of social reactions to crime, criminals and other deviant behaviours. They suggest a “demand for punishment” approach and a macro level analysis of general incentives as these may be related to the phenomenon of crime. European and United Nations data are used to make international comparisons.

Abstract
My observations on the subject of making the technologist information‐conscious may be divided into two parts. Firstly, an examination of the circumstances which make a special effort necessary; and secondly, a listing of some ‘paperwork’ methods of furthering the effort.

Looks at the issues from different strategic levels such as corporate, international, military and economic. Presents 31 case studies, including the success of Japan in microchips to the failure of Xerox to sell its invention of the Alto personal computer 3 years before Apple: from the success in DNA and Superconductor research to the success of Sunbeam in inventing and marketing food processors: and from the daring invention and production of atomic energy for survival to the successes of sewing machine inventor Howe in co‐operating on patents to compete in markets. Includes 306 questions and answers in order to qualify concepts introduced.

The findings emphasize that there are different forms of academic capitalism. Our example from Dubai context shows how more extreme form of academic capitalism, which we label Acamanic Capitalism, developed as a result of free educational markets.

Abstract
A QUESTION OF PRIORITIES WITH SMALLER COMPANIES The time has long since passed when it could be assumed that the fundamental problem of attaining profitability in business consisted simply of an ability to buy at a low price and market a large enough quantity of one's product at a sufficiently high price. Though, of course, it is indisputable that this relationship enters into the process of attaining profitability, the emergence of increasingly complex tax laws has meant that except in simple cases involving little or no investment the normal 'sense' of a situation has been made so complicated that managers may be forgiven if they sometimes feel that investment, and hence operating decisions, have the uncertainty of a lottery.
