Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to integrate research on KM with the effectuation approach. This paper will add to the understanding of effectuation as a KM tool in the context of social entrepreneurial networks. Although researchers agree that the lack of resources is a structural point for the context of social entrepreneurship and that knowledge is crucial in social entrepreneurship, only few studies deal with trying to understand how resources and knowledge are obtained, transformed and managed. An effectual approach seems to be particularly appropriate to work on this subject.
Design/methodology/approach
A literature review leads to a theoretical model that is tested in a single-case study of a French entrepreneurial project.
Findings
The empirical study not only shows the legitimacy of using an effectual approach but also puts forward three concepts that enable a better understanding of the access to resources and knowledge and their use in the context of social entrepreneurship. This study contributes to the knowledge management literature in identifying the process of gathering and sharing external resources and knowledge through an effectual process led by the entrepreneur and by the network.
Research limitations/implications
The results complement the extant KM literature on the following points: identify the cumulative and absorptive process of knowledge from the network, contributing to the question of KM for growth and corporate entrepreneurship; answer to the claim from Durst and Runar Edvardsson (2012) to develop a greater understanding of knowledge identification, storage and utilization in small businesses; add to the topics of knowledge sharing, knowledge transfer and knowledge creation; and show that stages of creating, identifying, sharing and absorbing knowledge from/with the network are embedded in an effectual approach.
Practical implications
The lack of resources should not lead the entrepreneur to a dead end, but rather invite him/her to better raise following questions: Who can help me to get the missing resource? How could I develop the project without these resources and knowledge? The entrepreneur is invited to search more flexibility in the making of the project, and to seek more support from the network. A second important implication is a guideline that can be followed by business incubators to give better advice and guidance to social entrepreneurs.
Originality/value
The paper links effectuation, KM and social entrepreneurship literatures. The identification of the role of the network in knowledge creation, identification and sharing is valuable for both researchers and practitioners.

Abstract
Purpose
The classical ϕ‐a formulations for numerical dosimetry of currents induced by extremely low frequency magnetic fields requires that the source field is provided through a vector potential. The purpose of this paper is to present a new formulation t‐b which directly takes the flux density as source term.
Design/methodology/approach
This formulation is implemented through finite element and validated by comparison with analytical solutions. The results obtained by both formulations are compared in the case of an anatomical computational phantom exposed to a vertical uniform field.
Findings
A good agreement between the t‐b formulation and both numerical and analytical computations was found.
Originality/value
This new formulation seems to be more accurate than the ϕ‐a formulation, and is more suited for situations where the magnetic field is known from experimental measurements, as there is no need for a magnetic vector potential.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to improve the modeling accuracy of the magnetostrictive hysteretic characteristics by introducing hysteresis energy instead of pinning energy in the assembled domain structure model (ADSM).
Design/methodology/approach
First, the magnetostrictive characteristics and the domain movement process in an electrical steel sheet are measured and observed. The reasons for the influence of stress on magnetostriction are discussed on the mesoscopic level. Second, the ADSM model using the hysteresis energy is investigated to estimate the influence of external stress. Finally, the simulation results of the modified ADSM model are compared with the experimental data under the same calculation conditions.
Findings
The results show that the improved model not only explains the cause of hysteresis clearly from the perspective of the magnetic moment but also improves the modeling ability of magnetostrictive hysteretic.
Originality/value
The magnetostriction in electrical steel lags behind the external magnetic field, and it is significant for reducing core vibration to estimate the magnetostrictive hysteretic property accurately. This paper proposes an effective approach to model the hysteretic characterization of magnetostriction.

Purpose
The development of reusable space launchers requires a comprehensive knowledge of transonic flow effects on the launcher structure, such as buffet. Indeed, the mechanical integrity of the launcher can be compromised by shock wave/boundary layer interactions, that induce lateral forces responsible for plunging and pitching moments.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper aims to report numerical and experimental investigations on the aerodynamic and aeroelastic behavior of a diamond airfoil, designed for microsatellite-dedicated launchers, with a particular interest for the fluid/structure interaction during buffeting. Experimental investigations based on Schlieren visualizations are conducted in a transonic wind tunnel and are then compared with numerical predictions based on unsteady Reynolds averaged Navier–Stokes and large eddy simulation (LES) approaches. The effect of buffeting on the structure is finally studied by solving the equation of the dynamics.
Findings
Buffeting is both experimentally and numerically revealed. Experiments highlight 3D oscillations of the shock wave in the manner of a wind-flapping flag. LES computations identify a lambda-shaped shock wave foot width oscillations, which noticeably impact aerodynamic loads. At last, the experiments highlight the chaotic behavior of the shock wave as it shifts from an oscillatory periodic to an erratic 3D flapping state. Fluid structure computations show that the aerodynamic response of the airfoil tends to damp the structural vibrations and to mitigate the effect of buffeting.
Originality/value
While buffeting has been extensively studied for classical supercritical profiles, this study focuses on diamond airfoils. Moreover, a fluid structure computation has been conducted to point out the effect of buffeting.

Purpose
Most of the existing literature on online social networks (OSNs) either focuses on community detection in graphs without considering the topic of the messages exchanged, or concentrates exclusively on the messages without taking into account the social links. The purpose of this paper is to characterise the semantic cohesion of such groups through the introduction of new measures.
Design/methodology/approach
A theoretical model for social links and salient topics on Twitter is proposed. Also, measures to evaluate the topical cohesiveness of a group are introduced. Inspired from precision and recall, the proposed measures, called expertise and representativeness, assess how a set of groups match the topic distribution. An adapted measure is also introduced when a topic similarity can be computed. Finally, a topic relevance measure is defined, similar to tf.idf (term-frequency, inverse document frequency).
Findings
The measures yield interesting results, notably on a large tweet corpus: the metrics accurately describe the topics discussed in the tweets and enable to identify topic-focused groups. Combined with topological measures, they provide a global and concise view of the detected groups.
Originality/value
Many algorithms, applied on OSN, detect communities which often lack of meaning and internal semantic cohesion. This paper is among the first to quantify this aspect, and more precisely the topical cohesion and topical relevance of a group. Moreover, the proposed indicators can be exploited for social media monitoring, to investigate the impact of a group of people: for instance, they could be used for journalism, marketing and security purposes.

Purpose
Static converters generate current harmonics in power grids. For numerous studies, analytical frequency modeling is preferred to carry out their harmonic modeling in the context of sizing by optimization. However, a design by optimization has to consider other constraints, e.g. modeling constraints and operating constraints. In this way, this paper aims to focus on applying an analytical frequency modeling on the sizing by optimization of an aircraft electrical power channel.
Design/methodology/approach
The paper aims to size a multiphysical system by optimization. In this way, the sizing of an aircraft electrical power channel by optimization has been carried out. The models of all the channel components are analytical. Specifically, the frequency model of the power electronics is based on Tran et al. (2016) and is made of equalities and inequalities. Due to this modeling choice, the optimization satisfies hundreds of constraints, such as modeling constraints and static converter operating constraints. Furthermore, transient constraints are only verified after optimization.
Findings
The difficulty is the modeling of the system by taking into account nonlinear implicit equations having several solutions. A solution is the addition of inequality constraints to the model to guide the implicit solving. Furthermore, this greatly helps the optimization algorithm to find the good operating mode of the static converter, at steady state. This aspect is indispensable to validate the sizing model.
Research limitations/implications
The number of the configurations per operating period of the static converters is defined a priori and limited.
Originality/value
The analytical model for the sizing is formulated as a constrained optimization problem. Its solving and the sizing by optimization are carried out by the same optimization algorithm.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper seeks to investigate the communication strategy of the two main candidates in the 2007 French presidential elections, deconstructing the process of communication in its main elements: context, message, media‐mix, and communication strategy.
Design/methodology/approach
Secondary data were collected from a variety of secondary sources, such as texts, articles, statistics and interviews on the subject of the 2007 French presidential elections, published in various journals or web sites, and then re‐interpreted from the perspective of two researchers, who were direct participants and observers of these political events.
Findings
The findings present an analytical discussion of the central political message used during the presidential campaign, complemented by an analysis of the media‐mix and the level of media exposure of the two main candidates.
Research limitations/implications
The limited focus of the paper on the communication campaign implemented by the two main candidates in the 2007 French presidential elections does not permit a general evaluation of the political marketing strategy.
Practical implications
The conclusions of this study can provide a useful insight for political communication specialists.
Originality/value
The main contribution of the paper lies in the presentation and discussion of the main communication methods and tools used in a political system different from the Anglo‐American context, which is analysed in most empirical and theoretical studies on the subject of political marketing.

Purpose
This study aims to identify the major job stressors that can affect employees’ mental health in the Lebanese commercial banks during the economic turmoil. This study also aims to identify the effects of the mental problems on the employees in addition to the role of human resources in promoting and preventing mental well-being at the workplace.
Design/methodology/approach
The authors interviewed 28 bank employees and the semi-structured interviews last for around 50 min, starting by asking the employees a general question about the concept of mental health disorder. The authors used a purposive sampling in which the population sample is selected based on purpose and the characteristics of a specific category of individuals. Moreover, a thematic analysis is used to analyze the data.
Findings
The findings of this study indicate that most of the employees were suffering from many work-related stressors that have negatively affected their mental well-being. The stress and pressures have significantly increased during the economic crisis. However, most of the interviewees were not or rarely supported by their human resources department and their administration to help them get adapted for such a crisis or for the changes at the workplace.
Originality/value
Mental health disorders are present in the daily normal life and in the workplace as well. The banking industry is not an exceptional one.

Purpose
Due to the increase of the traffic, issues are appearing on DC electrified railway feeding systems. One candidate solution to solve these issues and to improve their performances is to add storage systems in the railway DC electrical network. The paper presents a method based on an Optimal Power Flow (OPF) for the analysis and design of DC railway feeding systems with storage.
Design/methodology/approach
The paper describes a new methodology based on optimization to study DC electrified railways, including storage systems. A load flow model of a DC 1500V railway electrification system is presented, including the mobility of the train sets. Then, an Optimal Power Flow model of the DC network, including energy storage systems and feeding substation rectifiers has been developed. Finally, the OPF model has been tested on a real application case showing its benefits while searching solutions in order to improve the network performances.
Findings
An OPF model suitable for analysis of DC networks with storage is presented. It shows its ability to solve large scale problems.
Research limitations/implications
The paper focuses on the physical model of the network. The optimization model will have to be extended with application constraints.
Originality/value
The hypothesis presented in this paper allows to remove the discontinuities of the system in order to use a continuous optimization approach.
