Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to examine the benefits of online guided group journaling for an individual’s mental health. The authors focused on a specific social networking platform called Family eJournal.
Design/methodology/approach
In total, 51 female participants were recruited from an American university with an average age of 20 years. Participants completed an online survey called the Relationship and Lifestyle Questionnaire. The questionnaire utilized two subscales, the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (Diener et al., 1985) and the Depression and Anxiety Stress Scale (Lovibond & Lovibond, 1995). In addition, the questionnaire also measured several items related to an individual’s health choices such as smoking or dieting. Half of the participants in the study were randomly assigned to the Family eJournal user group.
Findings
Following the ten-week time period, the Family eJournal group reported significantly higher social support and lower scores of depression compared to the non-Family eJournal control group. However, there was no difference between groups in regard to anxiety or health choices. Implications of online group journaling and future directions are discussed.
Research limitations/implications
Current findings suggest that online journal sharing may provide a buffer from depression. For those who experience a negative perception of social experiences, building and maintaining interpersonal relationships becomes increasingly difficult, furthering the experiences of social isolation. Therefore, the ability to self-disclose and share personal experiences is crucial, albeit difficult to express (Heinrich and Gullone, 2006; Wei et al., 2005). As depression increases, individuals may alter the types of social, cognitive and emotional behaviors they employ. In turn, online asynchronous communication platforms may foster a reduction in discomfort in self-disclosure and increase positive perceptions of social experiences.
Practical implications
The findings suggest that the SNS platform FamilyeJournal may provide a simple opportunity to improve family relationships. Asynchronous online communication is immune to drawbacks and barriers associated with traditional means of communication such as busy schedules and geographic disparity (Perron, 2002).
Social implications
Online social networking may be a beneficial way to connect with others and facilitate positive mental health.
Originality/value
While the authors have known the benefits of journaling for some time, few studies to date have examined the potential benefits of asynchronous communication via online journaling. Online journaling platforms may provide an attractive avenue for enhancing the well-being for individuals who have limited opportunities to communicate in real time.

Abstract
Highlights the opinion that the importance of national culture in cross‐cultural management is diminishing, suggesting that the world is moving towards a single, global management culture that is basically Western and, more specifically, American. Attempts to test this hypothesis by examining values held by future managers from five different cultures. Uses the Kruskal‐Wallis One Way ANOVA and the Mann‐Whitney tests to show that future managers from different cultural backgrounds will neigher adopt a mirror image of current management style in their cultures nor a global unified management style regardless of local culture.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper analyses children's experiences of school or family visits to Hare Krishna eco-farms in Europe. The article evaluates the extent to which these encounters enable retention and recollection of memories and, consequently, trigger change towards more sustainable behaviour.
Design/methodology/approach
Participatory research, qualitative observations and theories of childhood memory are used to explore the nature of children's environmental encounters on Hare Krishna eco-tours.
Findings
Findings reveal that Krishna eco-tours offer a conducive environment for cerebral registering and future reminiscing through the following components: experiential learning of sustainable practices which are radically different to mainstream alternatives, sensory experiences, nature play and entertainment and freedom from everyday constraints.
Originality/value
The emerging literature on children's eco-tourism has largely focussed on market-related aspects and farmers' needs. In contrast, the authors’ conceptual framework, based on contemporary research in childhood memories, offers a tool to evaluate the impacts of eco-tourism from a more holistic perspective.

Abstract
Economic planning, which as a concept emerged as a socialistic idea, is now considered an important aspect of all national economies with varying political and ideological persuasions and at different stages of socio‐economic development. There are as many types and forms of economic planning as the number of countries, because each country formulates a plan according to its political and economic environments and goals of the national economy. In a general sense, the term economic planning can be defined as formulation of control and regulation of economic activity by public agency with a view to achieving well‐defined objective(s). Since the key questions implicit in this definition such as formulation of economic policies, regulation and control of economic activity and goals and objectives of the national economy, are closely related to the political structure of a society, the techniques and patterns of economic planning thus become intricately woven with its political system.

Abstract
Purpose
There is a concern in literature about the critical elements of lean enterprise (LE) that can be represented as pillars of lean enterprise excellence. However, existing frameworks proposed on LE excellence are very few. The purpose of this paper is to develop a relationship model among the pillars of a proposed framework of LE excellence in Indian manufacturing industry by Jasti et al. (2020) with the help of interpretive structural modelling (ISM) and structural equation modelling (SEM).
Design/methodology/approach
The ISM is constructed on two exemplary cases of lean operations from two Indian manufacturing organisations. These cases were selected based on the implementation of lean practices in respective organisations. The two manufacturing organisations which implemented lean practices at different levels were selected as contenders for constructing ISM. The relationships among pillars and constructs of LE framework are obtained from ISM, and later subjected to statistical testing for model fit by using SEM. The input to SEM was the respondent's data collected in a previous study.
Findings
The outcome of the present study revealed that the successful implementation of LE framework requires an appropriate strategy along with top management commitment to get a complete benefits of LE. The study has proposed a strategy to implement the proposed LE framework in Indian manufacturing industry. This study has revealed that ISM developed based on the focal company that implemented lean practices effectively is statistically fit for LE framework.
Research limitations/implications
The study has established paired relationships among lean pillars for an effective implementation of LE framework. The investigation was started by collecting opinions of experts to perform the appropriate interpretations subsequently. However, the expert judgements can be qualitative in nature and prone to bias and impact the final outcome. To overcome these a large-scale empirical survey is suggested to provide a better catch for interactions in LEs.
Practical implications
This study helps in providing concrete practical implications to both academic researchers as well as industry professionals. The practitioners normally focus on finding readymade strategies for implementing LE in the organizations. The comprehensiveness of the present work helps the practitioners in implementing LE strategy with ease. The study revealed that management commitment and leadership is driving force but needs strategic implementation methodology for successful implementation.
Social implications
Manufacturing industries across the world have been struggling to understand and implement LE strategy effectively. Most of the governments across the world are supporting and motivating various industry practitioners to implement LE strategy by providing financial assistance for conducting training programmes. However, many organizations across the world were not able to implement LE strategy successfully. The present study provides a strategy to implement LE framework effectively in an organization.
Originality/value
The study offers a unique approach for analysing the underlying relationships among pillars of LE for effective management. Researchers can use the results of this study for developing frameworks in various domains of LE.

Abstract
Purpose
This research lies in the domain of Vedic mathematics, and it explores the application of the related Vedic sutras in different branches of mathematics, science, education, and engineering across Asia and Europe.
Design/methodology/approach
The study embraced a qualitative research design followed by a systematic literature review (SLR) approach which describes the significance of Vedic mathematics. The study made use of purposive sampling through which the data were collected from 102 articles by using inclusion and exclusion criteria. It includes publication years, the types of research methods, and uses of Vedic mathematics sutras in different branches of knowledge stated by the researchers. Its goal is to offer a more thorough explanation and an evaluation of how the inquiry affected the conclusions. The articles examined in this review included all the journal articles and doctoral theses from the databases of Google Scholar, Science Direct, Scopus, and Sodhganga which were published during the period 2010–2022.
Findings
The research found that the application of the sutras of Vedic mathematics has been increasing immensely in India. The researchers in this area are fond of qualitative research methods. This research has shown that sutras of Vedic mathematics especially “Urdhvatiryakbhyam” and “Nikhilam Navatascaramana Dasastah” have been frequently used in mathematics and engineering in technical higher education. The impact of other sutras has been quite useful, which augments that in many disciplines where the applications of Vedic mathematics are prevalent, it can be functional. The study concludes by reprising the result, its limitations, and the use of Vedic mathematics as a sustainable source of knowledge.
Research limitations/implications
Vedic mathematics is an area where a lot of potential applications are created in science, mathematics, engineering, and education. Even with the latest technological advancements like learning analytics, artificial intelligence has its connection with this branch of learning, which is the greatest treasure of the Indian knowledge system. The research in this area is not reported in any databases or any standard format so researchers find it difficult to locate and study this broad conceptual domain.
Practical implications
It will help the reader and other academic stakeholders to widen their view on the new and innovative techniques of Vedic mathematics. It is advised that additional studies would look at and evaluate papers published after this time so that readers may get a wider view of the concept of Vedic mathematics.
Social implications
It will help society to know the essence of Vedic mathematics that how useful it is. Vedic mathematics helps learners to learn in a very factual and accurate manner especially while dealing with mathematical calculations. It will enhance the problem-solving skills among learners. It will be beneficial for all types of learners which will help them to become better individuals for a nation.
Originality/value
The paper enriches understanding of the potential applications of different sutras from Vedic literature in different fields of knowledge. The outcome of the research encourages educationists and policymakers to include Vedic mathematics in the curriculum to foster quantitative reasoning and problem-solving at varied levels of learning.
