Abstract
The immense and real problems in securing nutritional adequacy for the world's peoples now and in the future were highlighted in the fascinating paper given by Sir Kenneth Blaxter FRS at the Thirteenth International Congress of Nutrition held in Brighton in August. These are some of the details of Sir Kenneth's paper.

Abstract
Much of the nutritional concern in the western world relates to problems that arise from the abundance of food available and the lack of wisdom exercised by many in selecting from this abundance what is thought to be a healthy diet. This does not mean, however, that we do not also have a concern for those whose everyday existence includes the experience of hunger. In his lecture to the British Nutrition Foundation in November '86, Sir Kenneth Blaxter posed the question, are the resources of the world adequate to provide sufficient food to ensure that future generations of all the people of the world will be free from hunger? Using his great wealth of experience, Sir Kenneth predicted the quantity of food which would be needed and discussed those uncertain factors which will determine whether the earth's resources will be able to meet these requirements.

Abstract
Demonstrates the advantages over other red meats of farmed venison as a lean healthy meat produced to quality standards with exceptional animal welfare. Traces the growth of the farmed venison industry over the last 20 years and describes some of the marketing and legislative problems (EC directives) which have beset this new industry. Draws comparisons with wild game venison and concludes that current emphasis on healthy eating and the need for retailers to heed the due diligence legislation will encourage long‐term growth in the market for farmed venison.

Abstract
At the present time there is a general dissatisfaction among both theoreticians and practitioners with the disease model of alcoholism. It is often felt that it has served its usefulness. This can be witnessed in the literature in the increased questioning of the central components of the alcohol addiction model. Such dissatisfaction is not new but the present unease has resulted in the creation of new models of problem drinking. New theories of alcoholism have been expressly fashioned to replace outmoded ideas.

Abstract
There has been a recent tendency for medical sociology to ignore the possible influence that religion may have on health. For example, religion as a social variable is now no longer routinely collected in large scale social surveys dealing with health or mortality. As Vaux speaking of America stated: “The U.S. Public Health Service, in its extensive and comprehensive analysis of health in its etiological and epidemiological dimensions, has chosen to systematically ignore the variable religion” (1,p.524). Such an attitude has been justified by recourse to arguments about the secularisation of society and in particular to the decline in the membership of the traditional churches. In this article I wish to re‐open this area for discussion by again asking the question: does religion influence health? The medical literature, from both national and ad hoc studies, considering the evidence of health effects under the headings of mortality, and physical and psychological morbidity will be reviewed. Religion however, when dealt with as a social science variable does have its problems; if correlations between religion and health are found how are they to be accounted for? I will, therefore, also look at the various types of causal mechanisms which have been put forward by researchers. Further, why certain diseases have greater prominence in the literature than others, and why certain religious groups have received greater attention than others will be considered. Finally the article concludes by outlining avenues of future research in the area and how any such work could avoid the theoretical bias of past studies.

Abstract
Aim of the present monograph is the economic analysis of the role of MNEs regarding globalisation and digital economy and in parallel there is a reference and examination of some legal aspects concerning MNEs, cyberspace and e‐commerce as the means of expression of the digital economy. The whole effort of the author is focused on the examination of various aspects of MNEs and their impact upon globalisation and vice versa and how and if we are moving towards a global digital economy.

Abstract
This chapter shares with readers the author's reflections on the process of deciding upon and carrying out research using a single case study. The purpose of the research was to understand the nature and dynamics of co-operation in destination marketing and to contribute to the development of a relevant theoretical framework for the study of co-operation in destination marketing. Fig. 1 summarises the process used to carry out this study; each stage of this process is further elaborated upon in the chapter. The chapter concludes with the author's reflections on what has been learned from this project about the joys and perils of case study research.
