Abstract
Purpose
Recovery Colleges were developed to support the recovery of people with mental health difficulties through courses co-produced by professionals and people with lived experience. This study aims to examine the use of Recovery Colleges to support people with dementia.
Design/methodology/approach
A survey was circulated to UK Recovery College and memory service staff, exploring provision, delivery and attendance of dementia courses. Open responses provided insight into participant views about recovery in post-diagnostic support and the practicalities of running dementia courses.
Findings
A total of 51 Recovery College staff and 210 memory service staff completed the survey. Twelve Recovery College dementia courses were identified across the UK. Three categories emerged from the qualitative data: post-diagnostic support, recovery in the context of dementia, challenges and areas of innovation.
Originality/value
This study highlights the benefits and practicalities of running Recovery College courses with people with dementia. Peer-to-peer learning was seen as valuable in post-diagnostic support but opinions were divided about the term recovery in dementia.

Abstract
In the present chapter, we present the case study of the only woman film director who has ever won an Academy Award for Best Director, Kathryn Bigelow. We analyzed 43 written interviews of Kathryn Bigelow that have appeared in the popular press in the period 1988–2013 and outlined eight main themes emerging regarding her exercise of leadership in the cinematic context. We utilize three theoretical frameworks: (a) paradoxical leadership theory (Lewis, Andriopoulos, & Smith, 2014; Smith & Lewis, 2012); (b) ambidextrous leadership theory (Rosing, Frese, & Bausch, 2011), and (c) role congruity theory (Eagley & Karau, 2002) and show how Bigelow, as a woman artist/leader working in a complex organizational system that emphasizes radical innovation, exercised paradoxical and ambidextrous leadership and challenged existing conventions about genre, gender, and leadership. The case study implications for teaching and practice are discussed.

Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to advocate for the integration of quantitative reasoning into management education and leadership development literature. The authors argue that the increasing complexity of managerial decision contexts, particularly in the age of information overload, demands that leaders possess the ability to critically analyze and interpret quantitative information.
Design/methodology/approach
This viewpoint paper uses narrative argument to explore the concept of quantitative reasoning and its relevance to management education. The authors draw on research from mathematics education, psychology and management to support their argument. They also use real-world examples, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, to illustrate the importance of quantitative reasoning in contemporary leadership.
Findings
This paper argues that quantitative reasoning is a critical skill for organizational leaders. It highlights the limitations of traditional management education in preparing leaders to effectively navigate data-rich environments. The authors contend that incorporating quantitative reasoning into leadership development programs can improve decision-making effectiveness.
Originality/value
This paper offers a novel perspective on leadership development by emphasizing the significance of quantitative reasoning, a concept borrowed from the field of mathematics education, to close a gap in current management education practices.

Describes a qualitative study on causes of principal burnout. Aims to ascertain causes of emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and personal accomplishment in the principalship. Nine principals depict how the principalship has changed and describe elements of their jobs that lead to burnout, as well as reasons for not wanting to continue in the principalship despite intrinsic rewards associated with the job. Abstract
Purpose – To examine how youth appropriate and resist elements of the developmental discourse as they construct and enforce dating norms.
Methodology – In 2007, we conducted participant observation at a middle school summer camp for youth in sixth, seventh, and eighth grades. Youth ranged in age from 11 to 17 years old.
Findings – Youth borrowed the idea of a normative sequence of behaviors arranged by age from the developmental discourse to establish a set of age-appropriate dating norms for all campers, regardless of chronological age. Youth enforced these norms by treating other dating actions as too young or too old. By tying this linear trajectory to social age instead of chronological age, youth creatively altered the apparently rigid developmental discourse and established dating norms which addressed their own values and concerns. Youth established dating norms and maximized opportunities for pleasurable, collective discussions about dating and romantic relationships. Although the developmental discourse influenced the norms in this peer culture, we argue that the small, heterogeneous composition of the camp facilitated youths' ability to appropriate, refashion, and resist the developmental discourse.

Abstract
We report on an ethnographic study of four established music scenes in which Latino music is produced, performed, experienced, and celebrated in Houston, Texas: conjunto, mariachi, salsa, and Latin jazz. This paper builds upon previous work that has examined emergent music scenes in Houston by incorporating three distinctly interactionist concepts – the scene, idioculture, and place – to illustrate established scenes. Our examination demonstrates that authenticity is a distinctly sociological concept, one that provides valuable insight into understanding the meanings that music has for the everyday actor.
