Abstract
The potential problems and their consequences due to fly ash disposal have been well studied around the world. Ash pond is a common available disposal facility for thermal power plants. The pond ash is subjected to weathering and the ions present in ash migrate to the soil and subsequently to the ground water over a period of time. A study has been carried out at Vijayawada Thermal Power Station (VTPS), Andhra Pradesh, India, to monitor the ground water quality in order to determine the potential impact of ash ponds. It has been found that ground water quality is deteriorated due to the presence of fly ash ions (macro and micro such as Fe, Ca, Mg etc.) which were leached out from the ash up to some extent. The contamination is likely to increase in the case of toxic and other ions with the passage of time. The presence of vegetative cover and plant growth on the down stream slope and fly ash ponds which are covered by soil may effectively control the leaching of ions.

Abstract
Fuel cells technologies are the most promising green energy technologies for diverse applications. One of the fastest growing areas is the portable electronic applications where the power range is the order of 1–100 W. For most of the portable electronic devices, rechargeable battery is the major energy source. Due to limitations like limited capacity, requirement of external power for recharge have led many researchers to look for alternative power sources to power portable electronic devices. The high energy density of fuel cells makes them very attractive alternative to batteries for portable power applications. There are a variety of fuel cell technologies being considered to replace batteries in portable electronic equipment. Direct Liquid Fuel Cells (DLFCs) have attracted much attention due to their potential applications as a power source for portable electronic devices. The advantages of DLFCs over hydrogen fed PEM fuel cells include a higher theoretical energy density and efficiency, a more convenient handling of the streams, and enhanced safety. Unlike batteries, fuel cells need not be recharged, merely refueled. This paper provides an overview on challenges of DLFCs (Direct Liquid Fuel Cells), like fuel crossover, cost, durability, water management, weight and size along with approaches being investigated to solve these challenges. Portable Fuel Cell Commercialization Targets for future and producers of portable fuel cells across the globe are also discussed in this paper.

Abstract
The approach described is based on conceptual analysis and practical experience on large‐scale financial planning models. In the authors' view, improved ergonomics in modelling can be achieved by visualising not only the MCDM stage of the model but the whole model structure. Three visualisations are constructed that cover managerial trade‐offs, environmental uncertainty and resource requirements. The results presented are based on real‐world complex financial models in a large commercial bank. It is suggested that the quality of the model/user interface does not seem to depend so much on the interactiveness of the tools used, but on the comprehensive illustrations that guide managers to essential discussions.

The demand of species monitoring for the benefit of various sectors such as industrial, medicinal and ecological has surged rapidly in the recent past. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to articulate the major developments in synthesizing conductive inks for the structurization of miniaturized as well as disposable or reusable electrochemical equipments.

Findings
Numerous times the need for the use point becomes significant for achieving accurate as well as swift quantification. As an alternate, the wearable and effectual reuseable electrochemical sensors are being practiced. The technique of fabricating devices using conductive inks encompasses novelty, as it provides flexibility in designing the electrodes. The increase in the popularity of inks development is governed by its features of simplicity, reduced cost and waste generation, high production and eco-friendly engineering procedures. Further, the electrochemistry aspects of conductive inks highlighting the importance of their compounds and binders has also been discussed emphasizing on the conductive materials.
Originality/value
This paper is an original review work. This paper will be helpful for manufacturers/researchers from smart wearable textile sector in envisaging innovative developing techniques of sensors as well as biosensors through conductive inks.

Abstract
Purpose
The main purpose of this article is to provide a focal framework with the aim of making integrated digital libraries in technical and content level of syntactic interoperability between digital libraries.
Design/methodology/approach
Literature review, library research method and analytical approach were used in the first step of this research in order to design IDL framework. Then a survey of 11 Iranian digital library applications was conducted for testing the proposed framework. Finally, based on the findings, conceptual integration architecture was proposed based on the framework.
Findings
Based on the literature a framework for integration of digital library applications in syntax level is proposed which includes four core layers: models, protocols, metadata formats, and context-based layer. Based on the findings of the survey, integration architecture is proposed which includes all the mentioned layers in the IDL framework. So as to decrease cost of installing the architecture, cloud base technology architecture introduced to be used inverse.
Originality/value
A gap exists between research and practice in the field of integrated digital libraries. In fact this article is an attempt to cover this gap by proposing a framework that can be implemented.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to address the magnetohydrodynamic boundary layer flow of hybrid mixture across a stretching surface under the influence of electric field.
Design/methodology/approach
The local similarity transformations are implemented to reformulate the governing partial differential equations into coupled non-linear ordinary differential equations of higher order. The numerical solutions are obtained for the simplified governing equations with the aid of finite difference technique.
Findings
The velocity, temperature and entropy generation are examined thoroughly for the effects of different budding parameters related to present analysis by means of graphs. It is obtained that owing to the effect of magnetic field along with slip factor, the fluid motion slowdown. However, the flow velocity enhances for the rising estimations of an electric field which tends to resolve sticky effects.
Originality/value
The three-dimensional plots are drawn to understand the nature of physical quantities. To ensure the precision, the obtained solutions are compared with the existing one for certain specific conditions. A good concurrence is observed between the proposed results and previously recorded outcomes.

Zyne is a mid-sized Delhi-based firm engaged in the home linen business under the company’s brand name. Raman was the Managing Director of Zyne. In 2019, Prashanth the head of the second-best region (West) quit abruptly without grooming a successor. Prashanth’s team consisted of greenhorn executives whom he recruited from colleges. Raman has options of selecting a replacement for Prashanth from within the organization. Two candidates are in the reckoning, namely, Amit and Neha. Amit was 48 years old, a veteran in the business and associated with the Zyne group for over 15 years. He was a top sales performer in the Central region and was interested in relocating to the West. Twenty-seven-year-old Neha was industrious, talented and creative. Within three years of joining Zyne, she had proven herself as a go-getter with remarkable ability to develop strong channel partner relations. Raman had to decide whom to select from among the two or go for an outsider from the industry. Raman has to contend with selection issues related to insider vs an outsider. If one of the internal candidates is chosen how could he motivate the other to continue to perform and deliver? Complexity academic level
Started in 2010, Zyne Furnishings headquartered at Delhi, was in the business of selling home furnishings. Raman, a second-generation entrepreneur was Zyne’s Managing Partner. With help from his father Rajesh Gupta, Raman worked toward expanding Zyne’s business operations in India. Raman was facing a challenge because of the abrupt resignation of Prashanth, the Western Region SM. Prashant had done well in the region and assiduously built Zyne brand’s presence there. As Raman pondered over the ways of filling up the SM position, questions confronted him for which he did not have immediate answers. He had 30 days in which a replacement must be finalized. Raman looked at the file containing the applications of the two internal candidates, namely, Amit (Southern region) and Neha (Western region) who had applied for the position. What evaluation process should he adopt to ensure an objective assessment is done before deciding on which of the two candidates fit the bill? Given that it was the first week of January 2020 and the year-end targets had to be met by March, Raman knew time was running out. He had to take a quick call. Use of competency mapping to evaluate candidates is a high point of the case. This case can be used to enhance the participants understanding of the challenges of identifying the right candidate for a senior position and weigh the pros and cons associated with the selection. Motivating the rejected internal candidate through the procedural justice system adds value to the case.

Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to know the influence of heat generation/absorption and slip effects on heat and mass transfer flow of carbon nanotubes – water-based nanofluid over a rotating disk. Two types of carbon nanotubes, single and multi-walled, are considered in this analysis.
Design/methodology/approach
The non-dimensional system of governing equations is constructed using compatible transformations. These equations together with boundary conditions are solved numerically by using the most prominent Finite element method. The influence of various pertinent parameters such as magnetic parameter (0.4 – 1.0), nanoparticle volume fraction parameter (0.1 – 0.6), porosity parameter (0.3 – 0.6), radiation parameter (0.1 – 0.4), Prandtl number (2.2 – 11.2), space-dependent (−3.0 – 3.0), temperature-dependent (−3.0 – 1.5), velocity slip parameter (0.1 – 1.0), thermal slip parameter (0.1 – 0.4) and chemical reaction parameter (0.3 – 0.6) on nanofluids velocity, temperature and concentration distributions, as well as rates of velocity, temperature and concentration is calculated and the results are plotted through graphs and tables. Also, a comparative analysis is carried out to verify the validation of the present numerical code and found good agreement.
Findings
The results indicate that the temperature of the fluid elevates with rising values of nanoparticle volume fraction parameter. Furthermore, the rates of heat transfer rise from 4.8% to 14.6% when carbon nanotubes of 0.05 volume fraction are suspended into the base fluid.

Purpose
The purpose of this study is to empirically test a theoretical model on supply chain management (SCM) adoption in India.
Design/methodology/approach
The present study used a multiple case research method to study the phenomenon. The findings are based on analysis of the SCM adoption processes in three large manufacturing organizations from the aluminium, steel and fertilizer industries.
Findings
The present study tested four propositions. Three of the propositions were empirically validated and one proposition was revised. The key findings are: one, a lack of recognition by an organization of higher advantages because of SCM adoption as compared to the costs leads to SCM non-adoption. Two, a lack of organizational readiness factors such as a collaborative and innovative culture, higher absorptive capacity and slack resources leads to the non-adoption of SCM. Three, a lack of institutional pressure and marketing activities of the SCM vendors on an organization lead to the non-adoption of SCM.
Originality/value
The major contribution of the present study is that it has empirically validated the theoretical model for SCM adoption in India. The findings of the present study have both theoretical and practical implications. Theoretically, a model of SCM adoption was validated. The study provides managerial connotations for SCM vendors, consultants, practitioners and policy implications for policymakers.

Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to realize an effective hybrid modeling (empirical-geometric) in order to describe the real behavior of the average roughness variation of the workpiece surface in turning with an elementary operation of superfinishing, using different analytic methodologies. The previous works are limited to describe the roughness for the usual elementary operations, citing the roughing and the semi-finishing, while this analysis builds technical rails for the industrialists in order to well conduct the operation of superfinishing in turning, by choosing the cutting parameters from the proposed model.
Design/methodology/approach
A statistical analysis of the average roughness measurements capability study, by the statistical process control method SPC and the ANN artificial neuron network, Levenberg–Marquardt's methods modified Monte Carlo SRM response surface.
Findings
The objective of this work was to describe the average roughness generated by the penetration of the cutting tool into a part in superfinishing turning. First, the authors used artificial colony analysis to determine optimal cutting conditions in order to have an average roughness lower than 0.8 µm. The cutting conditions selected: (1) the feed rate f ϵ [0.05; 0.2] mm/rev; (2) the pass depth ap ϵ [0.25; 1] mm; (3) the corner radius re = 0.2 mm and (4) cutting speed Vc ϵ [75; 100] m/min.
Originality/value
