Although much research work has been performed on the liquid sloshing inside simple cylindrical vessels, this paper deals with the analysis of the liquid sloshing in the annular region of more intricate coaxial circular cylinders. In this analysis, by utilizing the velocity potential theory, the transient response was formulated as a boundary value problem in the axisymmetrical vessels when the sine wave in resonance with the sloshing of the primary mode was applied.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this article is to clarify the social burden of Japan’s three major diseases including Long-term Care (LTC) burden.
Design/methodology/approach
A modification of the Cost of Illness (COI)—the Comprehensive-COI (C-COI) was utilized to estimate three major diseases: cancer, heart disease, and cerebrovascular diseases (CVD). The C-COI consists of five parts: medical direct cost, morbidity cost, mortality cost, formal LTC cost and informal LTC cost. The latter was calculated by two approaches: opportunity cost approach (OC) and replacement approach (RA), which assumed that informal caregivers were substituted by paid caregivers.
Findings
The C-COI of cancer, heart disease and CVD in 2017 amounted to 10.5 trillion JPY, 5.2 trillion JPY, and 6.7 trillion JPY, respectively (110 JPY= 1 US$). The mortality cost was preponderant for cancer (61 percent) and heart disease (47.9 percent); while the informal LTC cost was preponderant for CVD (27.5 percent). The informal LTC cost of the CVD in OC amounted to 1.8 trillion JPY; while the RA amounted to 3.0 trillion JPY.
Social implications
The LTC burden accounted for a significant proportion of the social burden of chronic diseases. The informal care was maintained by unsustainable structures such as the elderly providing care for the elderly. This result can affect health policy decisions.
Originality/value
The C-COI is more appropriate for estimating the social burden of chronic diseases including the LTC burden and can be calculated using governmental statistics.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper was to show that the generalised viscosity model can correctly characterise suspension data over both a wide range of concentration as well as a wide range of temperature. A second objective of this study was to show theoretically and experimentally how the interaction coefficient from the generalised viscosity model also appears to have some thermodynamic properties.
Design/methodology/approach
In this study, many well‐known suspension equations were shown mathematically to be subsets of the generalised viscosity equation. The generalised viscosity equation was also found to be able to be reduced mathematically to two well‐known dilute solution equations (Huggins and Kramer's equations) as well. The relationship between Huggins and Kramer's constants and the interaction coefficient from the generalised viscosity equation yielded the potential to evaluate the solubility characteristics of the interaction coefficient. The value of the interaction coefficient was then found to be able to be evaluated as a function of temperature to enhance an understanding of the thermodynamic characteristics of the interaction coefficient using the data of Bueche.
Findings
In this study, a polymer plasticiser system involving polymethyl methacrylate in the plasticiser diethyl phthalate yielded an interaction coefficient, σ, primarily in the expected plasticiser range from 0< σ<1. It was also found that the generalised viscosity equation fit Bueche's polymer plasticiser data remarkably well over the whole concentration range for temperatures ranging from 30°C to 140°C. This study also appeared to show that the interaction coefficient from the generalised viscosity model can apparently characterise thermal transitions as well as thermodynamic solubility for a polymer solute (i.e. polymethyl methacrylate) when viscosity is evaluated over a wide temperature range. This result was particularly significant since Bueche's data covered 25 decades of viscosity on a log scale.
Originality/value
This is the first paper to successfully explore the thermodynamic characteristics of the interaction coefficient of the generalised viscosity equation. This opens up new avenues for evaluating the solubility and thermodynamic characteristics of various additives in solutions and polymeric formulations.

Abstract
Purpose
The Fay and Riddell (F–R) formula is an empirical equation for estimating the stagnation-point heat flux on noncatalytic and fully catalytic surfaces, based on an assumption of equilibrium. Because of its simplicity, the F–R has been used extensively for reentry flight design as well as ground test facility applications. This study aims to investigate the uncertainties of the F-R formula by considering velocity gradient, chemical species at the boundary layer edge, and the thermochemical nonequilibrium (NEQ) behind the shock layer under various hypersonic NEQ flow environments.
Design/methodology/approach
The stagnation-point heat flux calculated with the F–R formula was evaluated by comparison with thermochemical NEQ calculations and existing flight experimental values.
Findings
The comparisons showed that the F–R underestimated the noncatalytic heat flux, because of the chemical composition at the surface. However, for fully catalytic heat flux, the F–R results were similar to values of surface heat flux from thermochemical NEQ calculations, because the F–R formula overestimates the diffusive heat flux. When compared with the surface heat flux results obtained from flight experimental data, the F–R overestimated the fully catalytic heat flux. The error was 50% at most.
Originality/value
The results provided guidelines for the F–R calculations under hypersonic flight conditions and for determining the approximate error range for noncatalytic and fully catalytic surfaces.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to identify how the introduction and dissemination of the 5S-KAIZEN-TQM approach positively influence the Egyptian health sector and its sustainability. It also seeks to encourage effective and efficient introduction of the 5S-KAIZEN-TQM approach into the health sectors of low- and middle-income countries.
Design/methodology/approach
The pilot program introducing the 5S-KAIZEN-TQM approach into five Egyptian public hospitals spanned over 13 months from January 2016 to February 2017. During the pilot program, a series of interventions occurred to introduce the approach, such as seminars on the 5S and KAIZEN approach, consultation visits and progress report meetings. Data and information were collected through conducting interviews, observing directly and evaluating the implementation progress of 5S-KAIZEN-TQM activities.
Findings
The study identified the following factors in effective and efficient dissemination of 5S-KAIZEN-TQM activities in the Egyptian health sector: restructuring the quality management structure to establish Quality Improvement Teams and Work Improvement Teams in hospitals, generating strong leadership and commitment among leaders, conducting effective in-house trainings on the 5S-KAIZEN-TQM approach, monitoring and following up on 5S-KAIZEN-TQM activities and introducing the 5S-KAIZEN-TQM approach using non-clinical sections, which could also influence the sustainability of the activities.
Originality/value
This study holds value in its clarification of meaningful ways to disseminate and encourage the sustainability of the 5S-KAIZEN-TQM approach in Egyptian public health facilities. Moreover, officials from the Ministry of Health and Population and hospital managers in Egypt can use the findings to plan and disseminate this approach nationwide.

Abstract

This paper aims to present a preliminary experimental result on a large-scale experiment on a cyber-physical hybrid discussion support environment in a panel discussion session in an international conference.
Design/methodology/approach
In this paper, the authors propose a hybrid (cyber-physical) environment in which people can discuss online and also offline simultaneously. The authors conducted a large-scale experiment in a panel discussion session in an international conference where participants can discuss by using their online discussion support system and by physical communications as usual.
Findings
The authors analyzed the obtained date from the following three viewpoints: participants’ cyber-physical attention, keywords cyber-physical linkage and cyber-physical discussion flow. These three viewpoints indicate that the methodology of the authors can be effective to support hybrid large-scale discussions.
Originality/value
Online large-scale discussion has been focused as a new methodology that enable people to discuss, argue and make consensus in terms of political issues, social complex problems (like climate change), city planning and so on. In several cases, the authors found that online discussions are very effective to gather people opinions and discussions so far. Moreover, this paper proposes a hybrid (cyber-physical) environment in which people can discuss online and also offline simultaneously.

In spite of technological advances and the removal or reduction of tariffs and other barriers to trade, international buyer–supplier relationships often struggle. In this conceptual chapter, we examine how purchase intentions are influenced by the effects of the psychic distance between the countries where the buyer and the supplier reside. We look into the causal mechanism through which the psychic distance between the buyer and the supplier influences the extent to which the two will enter a business relationship. Two causal pathways are proposed, a more emotional pathway, through organizational identification, as predicted by the psychological distance theory, and a more rational pathway, through trust and expected relationship quality, as predicted by internationalization theory.

Abstract
Purpose
The effectiveness of social marketing communication should depend both on message features and on the psychological characteristics of message recipients. This premise was tested in an experiment focused on why consumers may respond differently to different types of pro-recycling advertisements. The message feature was the way in which the advertisements were framed. The psychological characteristic of the message recipient was the respondent's mood. The paper aims to discuss these issues.
Design/methodology/approach
Hypotheses were tested in the context of an experiment focused on paper recycling.
Findings
It was hypothesized that congruity between mood and the frame of the message would result in more favorable message evaluations and higher intentions to recycle than incongruity. Supporting the study's hypotheses, the data showed that participants in a negative mood had higher intentions to recycle paper and evaluated pro-recycling advertisements more favorably when the ads emphasized avoiding negative consequences as opposed to attaining desired benefits. Among participants in a positive mood, desired benefit advertisements induced higher intentions to recycle paper and were evaluated more favorably than advertisements framed in terms of avoiding negative consequences.
Practical implications
A clear message placement strategy is suggested to increase the effectiveness of social marketing communication campaigns.
Originality/value
This mood congruity effect has not been reported before in the context of pro-environmental communication. Furthermore, the study provides empirical evidence of the underlying psychological mechanisms that cause the observed interaction. The evidence suggests the data could be predictive of similar response patterns in other social marketing communication domains (e.g. in response to health messages, volunteering, charity, etc.).

Abstract
In this paper, I synthesize the prior psychology literature on ego depletion and apply this literature to an auditing setting. Ego depletion refers to a reduced desire or ability to use self-control in task performance due to using self-control on prior tasks. I focus on the likely causes and consequences of depletion in an auditing setting, as well as means of mitigating depletion and recovering self-control resources. While ego depletion theory is prevalent in the psychology literature, little is known about whether or how ego depletion affects professionals on meaningful task performance. As a result, this synthesis is aimed at stimulating future ego depletion research in accounting, and specifically auditing, by surveying existing literature and applying this literature to an auditing setting. Further, I develop 13 questions for future research to investigate. My synthesis reveals that ego depletion likely has a pervasive effect in an auditing setting, and can hinder auditors’ judgment and decision-making (JDM) quality. Therefore, this synthesis helps to provide a greater understanding of the impact of auditing tasks on individuals, and refines both auditor JDM and ego depletion theories.
