Abstract
This study examines Texas FFA officers’ perceptions regarding the traits and characteristics that good followers possess. A content analysis of officer responses to an open-ended question found that these young leaders have a limited level of understanding of what constitutes a good follower. Furthermore, female respondents placed a greater emphasis on supporting the leader and being respectful, whereas male respondents emphasized being a team player. Males also emphasized being involved in the chapter as a desirable trait more often than females. This suggests that females are more focused on ideas that are leader-supportive and males are more action driven. Males focused more on being a team and achievement. The study demonstrates a need to emphasize followership in leader development and education curricula. Youth organizations with similar leadership development programs can better equip their future leaders with the knowledge needed to be a follower-focused leader by teaching them how to identify good followership. As youth organizations become more follower-focused, failure to introduce followership instruction into the leadership classroom is a disservice to students.

Abstract
Purpose: This chapter examines the impact of regulatory frameworks on FinTech enterprises in Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries, focusing on identifying legislative barriers and facilitating factors for the advancement of financial technology.
Need for the Study: Despite the increase in FinTech, more knowledge is needed about how varying regulatory environments across CEE nations impact the sector’s growth and innovation. This study aims to fill this void by delving into these regions’ supportive and obstructive legislative factors.
Methodology: This research utilizes a comparative approach to analyze legislation related to FinTech, digital platforms, and data security. Data sources include central banks, financial regulators, and institutions across the Western Balkans, as well as the World Bank’s Global Fintech-Enabling Regulations Database and BBVA Research’s DiGiX index.
Findings: The analysis reveals that countries like Slovenia, Poland, and the Czech Republic have high digital readiness levels. Poland, Estonia, and Lithuania are leading in FinTech startup activities, with Serbia and Bulgaria notable for their regulatory sandboxes. Estonia, Lithuania, and Slovakia possess effective regulatory frameworks conducive to FinTech growth. In contrast, Albania, Kosovo, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina lag in developing their FinTech infrastructure. Progress varies across North Macedonia and Montenegro.
Practical Significance: The study underscores the pivotal role of regulatory frameworks in ensuring financial stability and safeguarding consumer interests. It emphasizes the necessity for tailored legislative reforms in countries with underdeveloped FinTech ecosystems, thereby fostering a more robust environment for FinTech, and ultimately, enhancing economic growth and technological innovation in the region.

Abstract
In 1971, the patent for the Automated Teller Machine was awarded to David Wetzel. While possibly not the first application of financial technology, since 1971 time, the innovation in the financial industry has grown beyond expectations. However, most studies in innovation ignore the financial sector altogether. In this study, the authors investigate financial technology firms and innovation. After identifying firms that are considered financial technology, the authors collect innovation outcomes such as patents and data breaches associated with those firms. The authors show that patent activity has enjoyed modest growth year over year; however, firms still have challenges to overcome such as market risk and data security. This study serves as a perspective on financial technology.

Abstract
More than half a century ago, glucose was “making the headlines” in connection with its use in brewing; it was conferring on beers derived from it properties not anticipated by the brewers and certainly not appreciated by the unfortunate consumers. Arsenic present in the sulphuric acid used in the hydrolysis of starch being converted into glucose passed through into the final product and there was a very unpleasant epidemic of arsenical poisoning, particularly in the Manchester area. There were many repercussions, lasting right up to the present time. One of our early recollections was of long rows of Gutzeit bottles emitting the rather unpleasant odour produced by the action of hydrochloric acid and granulated zinc on beers and ales, although, if memory can be relied upon, we were never successful in finding any significant amounts of arsenic.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to propose an automatic method to generate semantic annotations of football transfer in the news. The current automatic news integration systems on the Web are constantly faced with the challenge of diversity, heterogeneity of sources. The approaches for information representation and storage based on syntax have some certain limitations in news searching, sorting, organizing and linking it appropriately. The models of semantic representation are promising to be the key to solving these problems.
Design/methodology/approach
The approach of the author leverages Semantic Web technologies to improve the performance of detection of hidden annotations in the news. The paper proposes an automatic method to generate semantic annotations based on named entity recognition and rule-based information extraction. The authors have built a domain ontology and knowledge base integrated with the knowledge and information management (KIM) platform to implement the former task (named entity recognition). The semantic extraction rules are constructed based on defined language models and the developed ontology.
Findings
The proposed method is implemented as a part of the sport news semantic annotations-generating prototype BKAnnotation. This component is a part of the sport integration system based on Web Semantics BKSport. The semantic annotations generated are used for improving features of news searching – sorting – association. The experiments on the news data from SkySport (2014) channel showed positive results. The precisions achieved in both cases, with and without integration of the pronoun recognition method, are both over 80 per cent. In particular, the latter helps increase the recall value to around 10 per cent.
Originality/value
This is one of the initial proposals in automatic creation of semantic data about news, football news in particular and sport news in general. The combination of ontology, knowledge base and patterns of language model allows detection of not only entities with corresponding types but also semantic triples. At the same time, the authors propose a pronoun recognition method using extraction rules to improve the relation recognition process.

Abstract
Reports on a mailed questionnaire survey of corporate managers and executives from fields other than communication and public relations (accounting, administration, engineering, legal, operations, marketing, etc.) in four major corporations. Analysis included frequency and mean tests plus factor analysis. Results suggest these managers and executives consider the public relations function to be significantly important to their organization. However, most of those surveyed do not know what the public relations function in their organization is or does. Respondents (n = 423) ranked external communication activities to be considerably more important than internal communication. Technical public relations skills were also considered more necessary than public relations management abilities. Few thought corporate communication or public relations people needed to be involved in strategic planning or organizational decision making.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to show how school principals in France spend their work time and when and under what circumstances they deal with school improvement-related matters.
Design/methodology/approach
For the study presented in this paper, a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods was used. Five French collèges (secondary schools) from one school district were visited for a week each. Each principal was shadowed, his/her actions and the context were recorded and categorized. The shadowing was conducted using a structured observation approach derived from Mintzberg. In addition semi-structured interviews were conducted with all principals. The data were analyzed following a grounded theory approach.
Findings
The results show how principals spend their work time and as well as possible areas of improvement. Among other things, they reveal very fragmented workdays. Most principals put a low emphasis on school improvement and struggle with conflicting expectations (preservation vs innovation). Shared leadership was only observed in one case.
Research limitations
The specificity of the sample limits the possible ranges of interpretation and generalization. Also, it remains unclear whether one week of observation per school is enough to get a reliable estimate of a principal's daily work. There is a need for further empirical studies of the matter.
Originality/value
This paper offers rare insights into the day-to-day work of French school principals. It contributes to the understanding of school leadership practice as well as to the transcultural understanding of school leadership.
