Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to establish a multi-physics-coupled model for an electrostatic particulate matter (PM) sensor. The focus lies on investigating the deposition patterns of particles within the sensor and the variation in the regeneration temperature field.
Design/methodology/approach
Computational simulations were initially conducted to analyse the distribution of particles under different temperature and airflow conditions. The study investigates how particles deposit within the sensor and explores methods to expedite the combustion of deposited particles for subsequent measurements.
Findings
The results indicate that a significant portion of the particles, approximately 61.8% of the total deposited particles, accumulates on the inside of the protective cover. To facilitate rapid combustion of these deposited particles, a ceramic heater was embedded within the metal shielding layer and tightly integrated with the high-voltage electrode. Silicon nitride ceramic, selected for its high strength, elevated temperature stability and excellent thermal conductivity, enables a relatively fast heating rate, ensuring a uniform temperature field distribution. Applying 27 W power to the silicon nitride heater rapidly raises the gas flow region's temperature within the sensor head to achieve a high-temperature regeneration state. Computational results demonstrate that within 200 s of heater operation, the sensor's internal temperature can exceed 600 °C, effectively ensuring thorough combustion of the deposited particles.
Originality/value
This study presents a novel approach to address the challenges associated with particle deposition in electrostatic PM sensors. By integrating a ceramic heater with specific material properties, the study proposes an effective method to expedite particle combustion for enhanced sensor performance.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to (1) identify the sustainable practices developed by the textile and apparel industry and (2) investigate the gaps and opportunities in the sustainability implementation process by quantitively analyzing the sustainability topics and the relevant topic trends.
Design/methodology/approach
This study employed text mining techniques. A total of 1,168 relevant magazine articles published from 2013 to 2020 were collected and then categorized according to their tones. In total, 36 topics were identified by reviewing the sustainability issues in the industry. The frequency of each topic mentioned in the articles and the correlation coefficients between topics' frequencies and published time were calculated. The results were used to examine if the three sustainability dimensions (environment, society, economy) were equally addressed and identify opportunities in the sustainability implementation process.
Findings
There were much fewer social and economic topics than environmental topics discussed in the articles. Additionally, there were not enough practices developed to reduce microfiber pollution, improve consumers' knowledge of sustainability, offset the carbon footprint, build a transparent, sustainable supply chain and avoid animal cruelty.
Originality/value
There is a lack of research focusing on the whole supply chain and sustainability when investigating sustainable practices and topic trends. This study fills a part of the gap. The results can be used by industrialists to identify sustainable practice opportunities and better manage their sustainable supply chains. Researchers can utilize the results to compare the topics in the industry with the topics studied in academia.

Abstract
Purpose
To examine “universal service” as a policy objective in post‐WTO accession Chinese telecommunications and analyze the challenges of the Chinese telecommunications system in defining and promoting public service ethos in a country that is marked by staggering disparities.
Design/methodology/approach
A range of media, academic, industry, and policy discourses on “universal service” and a broader notion of “public service,” together with recent government efforts in promoting “universal service,” are examined and assessed to develop an analysis of the uneven nature of China's telecommunications development and reveal the dynamics of “universal service” policy formation, as well as the impetuses and impediments in developing any notion of public service telecommunications in China.
Findings
Public service issues in China need to be situated within a continuing process of uneven development which comprises dimensions other than residential telephone access. Although the ultimate policy goal appears to develop a nationally accessible telecommunications infrastructure as the basis of a unified national economy, this overall objective is beset by conflicts and contingent on the dynamics of elite and popular struggles over and beyond telecommunications development. Despite the spectacular expansion in telephone access, pragmatic concessions to dominant power groups, rather than a principled commitment to “universal service,” let alone efforts to define the social functions of telecommunications in more democratic ways, have shaped the development of China's telecommunications.
Originality/value
The development of China's telecommunications infrastructure offers lessons both as to the likelihood of successfully establishing an integrated national economy, and the role of public service in that context. However, the Chinese telecommunications policy field remains extremely fluid.

Abstract
Purpose
To strengthen the correlation analysis on risk factors of drug production safety and reduce the influence due to fuzzy judgments, a safety risk assessment method based on Grey-Analytic Network Process (G-ANP) is proposed.
Design/methodology/approach
First, an index system evaluating drug production safety risk is constructed according to the “Good Manufacture Practice of Medical Products,” next the influence weight of each risk index is derived by using the Analytic Network Process, then the grey number of each risk index is determined by further utilizing the grey statistical theory, and finally the risk level of drug production is obtained.
Findings
An empirical study is conducted and the results support the feasibility and practicability to use G-ANP method for drug production safety risk evaluation. The results of the case show that it is feasible and practical to use G-ANP method for drug production safety risk evaluation.
Originality/value
The innovation lies in the use of G-ANP method to fully consider the interdependence and interaction between the risk factors of drug production safety, which improves the objectivity in judging the risk level of drug production and provides a scientific basis for pharmaceutical manufacturers to formulate further decisions and management in the case of insufficient quantification of risk factors. Based on the findings, more targeted suggestions are made to reduce the production risk of pharmaceutical enterprises.
