Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to develop a 5As framework for entrepreneurial nudge public leadership for health and wellness promotion based on two exemplary cases in Mississippi.
Design/methodology/approach
The authors use a “case within a case” study design to develop the 5As public influence framework for entrepreneurial public leadership.
Findings
Based on the investigated cases of healthcare and wellness promotion in Hernando and Charleston, Mississippi, the authors developed the 5As framework for wellness promotion dimensions of awareness, assistance, alignment, association, and assessment. This framework is applicable to the lived experiences of community members, leaders, healthcare providers, and government.
Research limitations/implications
The study results provide a compelling insight into early-stage formation of entrepreneurial public leadership. However, the study results lack generalizability due to the case study approach used.
Practical implications
This study can assist entrepreneurial public leaders and policy-makers align their strategic wellness goals, initiatives, and policies that motivate community members to seek and receive supporting services.
Originality/value
Developing an original framework for wellness promotion useful to both healthcare practitioners and public leaders, this study contributes to the extant literature on public health leadership and proposes mechanisms for addressing community wellness needs. The framework is designed to address public health concerns by integrating public leadership strategies aimed at linking with existing community wellness and healthcare services.

Abstract
Queensland’s first private prison became operational in January 1990 under contract to Corrections Corporation of Australia. The major reason for privatization was to attempt to reduce alleged public sector bureaucratic complexities and to increase the efficiency of the delivery of corrective services. Compares two Queensland prisons of similar security status (one public, one private) in terms of the nature of the inmate population in an attempt to determine whether either has a cost advantage. Compares actual cost data and suggests reasons for the apparent differences.

Abstract
Hardesty reviews 25 years of library instruction and his experiences with integrating library instruction into the liberal arts curriculum. There has been resistance and lack of attention from both teaching faculty and administrators. Recently accrediting agencies have begun to encourage library competency as a requirement, but this is only in the beginning stages. Librarians must take primary responsibility for seeing that this educational goal is achieved.

Abstract
Discusses the place of traditional bibliographic standards in the new electronic age. Questions the more extreme predictions of Internet enthusiasts concerning the future of printed materials and considers the culture change involved in developing print‐based and network‐based systems side‐by‐side. Discusses the nature of the standards required and concludes that existing bibliographic standards are not only suitable for dealing with the new situation but also have the benefit of applying relevant professional wisdom learned over many years to the new situation. Discusses Anglo‐American Cataloguing Rules and indicates some possible amendments to the machine‐readable catalogue format.

Abstract
FROM THE GROWING NEED, AS IDENTIFIED BY OUR COMPANY'S managers and specialists for more skills training in interviewing, a small team (the authors of this article) set out to examine what Central Training Services were now offering in this area and how it could be improved. Existing at the time were two modules concerned with specific types of interview, selection and appraisal. Each module discussed their processes in relation to the company and both included role‐playing interviewing with feedback using CCTV and behaviour analysis. Related sessions were also included on management, supervisory and sales courses under such titles as ‘interpersonal skills and communications’.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to understand the impact of the internet on different value activities in a physical goods (newspaper) supply chain.
Design/methodology/approach
Case studies were used to obtain rich data from three newspaper companies. The selected case study companies had experienced changes in their value chains as a result of the internet.
Findings
The internet has led to falling advertising revenues and dwindling circulations. The companies reacted to this by developing online news services, which do not have the distribution costs of a physical product, enable the customisation of editorial and advertising content, and facilitate the co‐creation of news content with consumers. Moving online has, however, not fully compensated for the losses in revenues. Readers were reluctant to pay for online content, the income from of the sale of web‐based advertising space was significantly lower than for the printed form, and journalists resisted co‐creation.
Research limitations/implications
The small sample of cases limits the generalisability of the findings.
Practical implications
Regional newspapers face problems developing an effective online news service to enable them to remain relevant in the communities they serve. The findings suggest that, although newspapers have adopted multimedia, and now have some user generated content, there is a reluctance to consider greater usage of additional forms of news production and e‐tools.
Originality/value
This paper examines how digital media are displacing physical goods from a value chain. There is evidence that co‐creation, a variable so far neglected in the literature on internet supply chains, can have a critical impact on value adding/creation activities.

Abstract
Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy and Michelle Robinson Obama are two First Ladies of the United States whose racial-ethnic, personal, and family characteristics made them the objects of inordinate public fascination. Using Patricia Hill Collins's concept, the “outsider within,” this chapter explores Kennedy and Obama's emergence as cultural icons and their marginal relationship with the white Protestant American governing class. As wives of presidents and specific to her generation, each woman brought superior professional credentials to their public roles. As cultural icons who differ from the white racial frame, they are subjected to excessive media scrutiny, evaluation, and supervision. Both women exercise cultural agency from their positions as cultural icons, particularly utilizing ceremonial activities and the power of the White House to oppose cultural erasure and exclusion of minority groups and to provide models of social inclusion. Analysis of their roles highlights the continuing importance of wives to the acquisition and maintenance of power and to the role of elites in offering models of social justice.
