Abstract
Purpose
The special structure of the vortex pump contributes to its complex internal flow pattern. A type of horizontal 150WX-200-20 vortex pump is taken as a research subject to deeply study the progression and distribution of flow pattern in its channel. To explain the mechanism of flow in this pump, numerical analysis of the whole flow and experiment have been conducted.
Design/methodology/approach
The authors studied and analyzed the distribution and evolution of flow pattern under different flow, such as circulating-flow, through-flow and other forms. Finally, a model of flow pattern in the vortex pump has been built, which has more perfectly fit the reality.
Findings
They are through-flow affected by circulating-flow, main and subsidiary circulating-flow, vortices between vanes and other vortices (or liquid impingement) in volute. Entering the pump, part of the flow stays in vanes and turn into vortices while the other goes into the front chamber. The flow that runs into the front chamber will be divided into two parts. One part will be collected by viscosity into a vortex rope when it passing through the interface between the impeller and the vaneless chamber, which closely relates to the circulating-flow, and the rest directly goes out of the field through the diffuser. Besides, a fraction of circulating-flow joins the through-flow when it goes through the section V and leaves the pump.
Originality/value
The research results build a theoretical foundation for working out the flow mechanism of the vortex pump, improving its efficiency and optimizing its hydraulic design.

Abstract
Purpose
In practical engineering, oil filters often work under asymmetric cyclic loading. In order to improve the prediction accuracy of fatigue life of the oil filters under asymmetric cyclic loading, the effect of strain ratio and low cycle fatigue plastic deformation on fatigue life need to be considered. This paper aims to discuss the aforementioned objective.
Design/methodology/approach
First, strain-controlled fatigue tests with strain ratios of 0, 0.5 and −1 were carried out on the oil filter material 2A70-T6 aluminum alloy, and the test data were used to obtain strain fatigue life curves at three strain ratios. Then, based on the idea of the constant life curve method, the average value of the ratio of the strain amplitude corresponding to different strain ratios under the same partial life was defined as the strain ratio factor. Finally, the elastic-plastic factor was modified by the strain ratio factor, and a new fatigue life prediction model considering the effect of strain ratio was proposed.
Findings
The proposed model was validated, respectively, by fatigue test data of 2A70-T6 aluminum alloy, 2124-T851 aluminum alloy and oil filter and the results of the proposed model were compared with the Coffin–Manson equation, Morrow model and Smith–Watson–Topper (SWT) model, showing that the proposed model had higher applicability and accuracy.
Originality/value
In this work, a strain ratio factor is established based on the idea of the constant life curve method, and the strain ratio factor is used to modify the introduced elastic-plastic factor, and then a new fatigue life prediction model considering the influence of strain ratio and low cycle fatigue plastic deformation on material fatigue damage accumulation is proposed. The results show that the prediction results of the proposed model are in good agreement with the experimental data, and the proposed model has good fatigue life prediction ability considering the influence of strain ratio and lays a foundation for the fatigue life prediction of the oil filter.

Abstract
Purpose
With the growing concern of various sectors of society regarding environmental issues and the promotion of sustainable development, green technology innovation is generally considered to be conducive to the long-term development of enterprises. However, because of the existence of agency problems, managers may have shortsighted behaviors. Then how will managers' shortsighted behaviors affect enterprises' green technology innovation?
Design/methodology/approach
This paper uses machine learning-based text analysis methods to construct a manager myopia index based on the data from A-share listed companies on the Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Exchanges from 2015 to 2020. We examine the impact of manager myopia on green technology innovation in companies.
Findings
Our study finds that manager myopia significantly inhibits green technology innovation in companies. However, when multiple large shareholders coexist and the proportion of institutional investors' holdings is high, it can alleviate the inhibitory effect of manager myopia on green innovation. Heterogeneity tests show that the impact of manager myopia on green technology innovation is relatively significant in non-state-owned and manufacturing companies, as well as in the electricity industry. Robustness tests demonstrate that our conclusions remain valid after using propensity score matching to eliminate endogeneity problems.
Originality/value
From the perspective of corporate governance, this paper incorporates managers' shortsightedness, multiple large shareholders and institutional investors' shareholding ratios into the same logical framework, analyzes their internal mechanisms, helps improve corporate governance, enhances green innovation capabilities and has strong implications for the implementation of national innovation-driven development strategies and the achievement of “carbon peak” and “carbon neutrality” targets.

Abstract
Purpose
Sufficient sample data are the necessary condition to ensure high reliability; however, there are relatively poor fatigue test data in the engineering, which affects fatigue life's prediction accuracy. Based on this, this research intends to analyze the fatigue data with small sample characteristics, and then realize the life assessment under different stress levels.
Design/methodology/approach
Firstly, the Bootstrap method and the principle of fatigue life percentile consistency are used to realize sample aggregation and information fusion. Secondly, the classical outlier detection algorithm (DBSCAN) is used to check the sample data. Then, based on the stress field intensity method, the influence of the non-uniform stress field near the notch root on the fatigue life is analyzed, and the calculation methods of the fatigue damage zone radius and the weighting function are revised. Finally, combined with Weibull distribution, a framework for assessing multiaxial low-cycle fatigue life has been developed.
Findings
The experimental data of Q355(D) material verified the model and compared it with the Yao’s stress field intensity method. The results show that the predictions of the model put forward in this research are all located within the double dispersion zone, with better prediction accuracies than the Yao’s stress field intensity method.
Originality/value
Aiming at the fatigue test data with small sample characteristics, this research has presented a new method of notch fatigue analysis based on the stress field intensity method, which is combined with the Weibull distribution to construct a low-cycle fatigue life analysis framework, to promote the development of multiaxial fatigue from experimental studies to practical engineering applications.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to describe the environmentally assisted cracking (EAC) of AISI 316L stainless steel as bare and coated cases in several corrosion environments. The main purpose of this study is to extend the lifespan of 316L material under corrosive fatigue in sodium chloride environments.
Design/methodology/approach
Fatigue tests carried out by using a Schenk type plane bending fatigue machine made by Tokyokoki Co. A scanning electron microscope (SEM) was used to observe the fracture surfaces and tested specimen surfaces. The micro-Vickers hardness of specimens was measured by using a PC-controlled Buehler–Omnimet tester.
Findings
Under reciprocating bending condition (R = −1) the behavior of 316L SS bare samples and 316L SS coated with Al-5%Mg samples were investigated comparatively at room temperature in ambient air and in several corrosion solutions. The results obtained from the data showed that Al-5Mg coating procedure significantly stabilized the 316L SS even in the most aggressive environment 5 per cent NaCl solution as compared with bare samples.
Originality/value
Al-5Mg coating showed a stable structure under the corrosion liquids used in the experiments. The coating material served as a stable barrier between the base material and the corrosion fluid, thus ensuring a tightness even in long-term tests below the endurance limit.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to propose a lightweight, high-accuracy object detection model designed to enhance seam tracking quality under strong arcs and splashes condition. Simultaneously, the model aims to reduce computational costs.
Design/methodology/approach
The lightweight model is constructed based on Single Shot Multibox Detector (SSD). First, a neural architecture search method based on meta-learning and genetic algorithm is introduced to optimize pruning strategy, reducing human intervention and improving efficiency. Additionally, the Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers (ADMM) is used to perform structural pruning on SSD, effectively compressing the model with minimal loss of accuracy.
Findings
Compared to state-of-the-art models, this method better balances feature extraction accuracy and inference speed. Furthermore, seam tracking experiments on this welding robot experimental platform demonstrate that the proposed method exhibits excellent accuracy and robustness in practical applications.
Originality/value
This paper presents an innovative approach that combines ADMM structural pruning and meta-learning-based neural architecture search to significantly enhance the efficiency and performance of the SSD network. This method reduces computational cost while ensuring high detection accuracy, providing a reliable solution for welding robot laser vision systems in practical applications.

Abstract
Purpose
With the growing economic impact of e-commerce and the increasing trend of omnichannel mode, more considerate services can be provided to customers. This paper aims to explore the optimal practice of business strategies and enrich the research content of marine tourism omnichannel.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper studies the optimal practice of bundling pricing and service effort strategies between two tourism suppliers (TSs) and a travel agent (TA) who distributes complementary products in marine tourism omnichannel considering joint efforts of both sides. This study develops five models by Stackelberg and Nash game and introduces the revenue-sharing contract. All outcomes/results are analyzed and the corresponding numerical and sensitivity analyses are conducted to derive more managerial implications and business insights.
Findings
The main findings show that bundling price is directly proportional to inter-channel integration coefficient and service effort level coefficient, and inversely proportional to the price elasticity coefficient. TA tends to provide a higher level of service effort than TSs when TA plays a dominant role. Improving the service effort level unduly leads to a decline in profits. Moreover, TSs and TA can reach a win-win situation under the coordination mechanism and the marine tourism omnichannel can achieve the best performance.
Originality/value
A novel and useful approach towards joint equilibrium decisions of bundle pricing and service efforts in marine tourism omnichannel with complementary tourism products under different operational strategies is proposed.

Abstract
Purpose
In order to obtain functionalized core-shell nanoparticles (CSNPs) as excellent toughening agents for epoxy resins. The paper aims to discuss these issues.
Design/methodology/approach
Functionalized CSNPs containing epoxy groups on the surface were synthesized by emulsion polymerization with butyl acrylate as the core and methyl methacrylate copolymerizing with glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) as the shell. CSNPs were used as toughening agents for epoxy resins and their chemical structure was characterized by FT-IR. The morphology of modified epoxy networks (MEPN) was analyzed by SEM and TEM. Both the mechanical properties and thermodynamic properties were studied.
Findings
The results show that nearly spherical CSNPs with the particle size of 50-100 nm are obtained. A certain amount of CSNPs are uniformly dispersed in epoxy resins by the grinding method and the MEPN shows the ductile fracture feature. The miscibility between CSNPs and epoxy matrix increases with the increase of GMA concentration which makes more bonds form between them. Epoxy resins toughened with 10 wt% CSNPs containing 10 wt% GMA show the best mechanical properties and the increase in tensile strength and impact strength of the MEPN is 13.5 and 59.7 percent, respectively, over the unmodified epoxy networks. And the improvement in impact strength is not accompanied with loss of thermal resistance.
Practical implications
The MEPN can be used as high-performance materials such as adhesives, sealants and matrixes of composites.
Originality/value
The functionalized CSNPs are novel and it can greatly increase the toughness of epoxy resins without loss of thermal resistance.
