Abstract
Purpose – Cory Booker will likely step down as mayor of Newark in 2014 or 2018. When he does, the possibility of a strong Latino candidate emerging is quite likely. There are a number of black politicians who would like to succeed Booker as well. This chapter identifies eight potential successors to Booker and assesses their ability to create a multiracial electoral coalition using prior vote performance in citywide elections.Design/methodology/approach – This study regresses district (or precinct) level vote preferences for the aforementioned potential successors in previous elections on the racial and ethnic composition of the district, using voter district demographic data from 2000 and 201011The 2010 data is still incomplete at the time of publication. As such, this data will be used sparingly. compiled by the US Census Bureau and the Minnesota Population Center.Findings − There is a decade’s worth of evidence suggesting racially polarized voting among blacks and Latinos in Newark. The racialized black and Latino candidates examined in this chapter had much stronger support in districts with large coethnic populations. In contrast, the more deracialized candidates often had softer support in districts with high concentrations of coethnic voters, but often performed better in districts with higher concentrations of non-coethnics.Originality/value − While the author cautions against reading too much into the findings, the results do portend a future of racially polarized voting in Newark, especially as the city’s population diversifies and as different factions vie for power.

Drawing upon prior work in cognition, organizational learning, strategy, and organization theory, a multi-level, longitudinal account of change in core competence is presented. The central concern addressed is how knowledge passes from “individual” to “organizational,” and how insight present in one part of the organization comes into broader currency. Data from a mature industry firm form the foundation for a depiction of change as a cognitive process involving multiple individuals, groups, and levels within the organization. Speculative propositions and a process model are presented.

Abstract
The Bureau of Economics in the Federal Trade Commission has a three-part role in the Agency and the strength of its functions changed over time depending on the preferences and ideology of the FTC’s leaders, developments in the field of economics, and the tenor of the times. The over-riding current role is to provide well considered, unbiased economic advice regarding antitrust and consumer protection law enforcement cases to the legal staff and the Commission. The second role, which long ago was primary, is to provide reports on investigations of various industries to the public and public officials. This role was more recently called research or “policy R&D”. A third role is to advocate for competition and markets both domestically and internationally. As a practical matter, the provision of economic advice to the FTC and to the legal staff has required that the economists wear “two hats,” helping the legal staff investigate cases and provide evidence to support law enforcement cases while also providing advice to the legal bureaus and to the Commission on which cases to pursue (thus providing “a second set of eyes” to evaluate cases). There is sometimes a tension in those functions because building a case is not the same as evaluating a case. Economists and the Bureau of Economics have provided such services to the FTC for over 100 years proving that a sub-organization can survive while playing roles that sometimes conflict. Such a life is not, however, always easy or fun.

Purpose
Epilepsy is a chronic illness affecting around 50 million people worldwide. Levetiracetam is an effective novel antiepileptic drug but can cause behavioural adverse events. A total of 10-15 per cent people with intellectual disability (ID) already present with Behaviour that Challenges (BtC). Brivaracetam is postulated to have a distinct pharmacological profile compared with levetiracetam which may result in fewer behavioural adverse events.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper presents two cases of people with epilepsy and ID being switched from levetiracetam to brivaracetam for reported behaviour adverse events.
Findings
The cases support that people with epilepsy and ID who are experiencing behavioural adverse events from levetiracetam can safely be switched to brivaracetam, resulting in significant reductions in BtC and potentially improved seizure control. Nevertheless, these results must be interpreted with caution, as aetiology for BtC in people with ID is often multifactorial.
Originality/value
This is one of the first papers to date, according to the best of the authors’ knowledge, to describe improved behavioural profile in people with ID and epilepsy when switching from levetiracetam to brivaracetam.

This paper aims to assess service quality in professional football and to examine the effects of service quality and ticket pricing on satisfaction and behavioural intention. Data were collected among football fans and the results of a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) supported the psychometric properties of the service quality model. A structural equation model (SEM) revealed that the service quality construct impacts both satisfaction and behavioural intention. Also, behavioural intention is influenced by ticket pricing and satisfaction. Managerial implications of these results are discussed and guidelines for future research are suggested.

Abstract
Purpose
Despite the growth of hotel guests’ mobile application use, limited studies identify hotel mobile application attributes and their roles in mobile application satisfaction and dissatisfaction. Therefore, drawing onto the information system success model and the two-factor theory, this study aims to establish a comprehensive framework of hotel mobile application attributes categorized into system, information and service attributes and investigate their roles in mobile application satisfaction and dissatisfaction.
Design/methodology/approach
A comprehensive framework of hotel mobile application attributes has been developed, drawing on the information system success model and using text analytics. A total of 88,309 mobile application reviews were collected for analysis. Furthermore, an impact asymmetry analysis was conducted to examine the extent of influence of mobile application attributes on satisfaction and dissatisfaction, thereby elucidating the contribution of mobile application attributes to both outcomes and expanding upon the two-factor theory.
Findings
Research findings present a holistic mobile application attributes framework and their roles in mobile application satisfaction and dissatisfaction by integrating theories and methodologies. Regarding the information quality, relevance emerged as the key factor for enhancing customer satisfaction, serving as a satisfier. In the realm of system quality, features stood out as the principal attribute leading to dissatisfaction. For the aspects of service quality, reliability was identified as the critical factor for achieving satisfaction. Overall, the findings confirm that mobile application attributes have unique roles in developing mobile application (dis)satisfaction.
Research limitations/implications
The study extends an understanding of hotel mobile application attributes’ roles, providing rigorous and practical guidance for improving customers’ mobile application experience in the hotel industry. The study sheds light on the importance of considering mobile applications from various perspectives. However, the current study is limited to using text analytics as its methodological approach. Therefore, future research can benefit from including interviews to achieve a deeper comprehension of the underlying factors contributing to the outcomes of this research.
Originality/value
The novel theoretical and methodological approach enhances the application of existing theories and uses of impact asymmetry analysis. Such an approach uncovers hidden patterns of the roles of mobile applications in customer satisfaction and dissatisfaction. The study also sheds light on the importance of considering mobile applications from various perspectives, such as information, system and service quality.
