Abstract
This report deals with the results of an examination, carried out at the CEBELCOR laboratory in Brussels, of an apparatus for the magnetic treatment of water (CEPI apparatus, super model, type 3/8, No. S7734). It was found possible with the aid of this apparatus to reduce to one‐third of its normal amount the incrustation produced in an easily incrustable laboratory distiller fed by drinking water of the Brussels water supply. The following description covers, first, the apparatus itself, then the working method adopted and, finally, the results obtained.

Cathodic protection by galvanic or impressed current techniques is probably the most favoured method of obviating the corrosion of buried and immersed metals. The theoretical principles and the economics involved in such protection are well established now and have been the subject of numerous papers, monographs and reviews. ‘Cebelcor’ (Centre Beige d'Etude de la Corrosion) is a non‐profit‐making association founded for the purpose of fighting corrosion by scientific, technical and educational means. It pursues this objective in collaboration with similar bodies in Belgium and abroad. SPRINGS TO MIND. In any mechanism incorporating a spring, the spring is the most highly stressed component and therefore the part most likely to fail if not properly designed and manufactured. Recently a submarine oil pipeline was blocked when an internal wall‐scraping mechanism became jammed. The blockage could only be cleared by lifting the pipe from the sea‐bed and renewing the affected section. The fault was found to be due to a spring in the scraping gear which had failed by corrosion.

The true noble metals are those which have an inherent resistance to corrosion which does not primarily stem from the formation of an inert protective oxide film, though such films may be present in some environments. Not many years ago the noble metals received little attention from corrosion engineers and were dismissed as expensive, of poor mechanical properties, and only in exceptional cases were they seriously considered as tools against the ravages of corrosion.

Purpose
The aim was to study the effect of an electromagnetic treatment used on corrosion control of carbon steel in cooling systems.
Design/methodology/approach
The aim was to assess the performance of an electromagnetic treatment used on corrosion control of carbon steel in cooling water systems.
Findings
The main conclusion is that the electromagnetic system cannot induce a direct effect on the corrosion rates. The use of chemical corrosion inhibitors cannot be suggested.
Social implications
The optimized industrial use of water is an objective of unquestionable importance, as water is a finite resource. The use of efficient corrosion control on water cooling systems permits the reduction of the water volume required. Consequently, a social benefit can be associated with the improvement of corrosion control technologies.
Originality/value
The development of alternative corrosion control technologies, such as the use of physical treatments, has been considered as a promising tool. In this work, a consistent assessment of the results achieved on a full-scale system, without using chemical corrosion inhibitors, is presented.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of knowledge management (KM) drivers on perceived KM results in a public higher education institution. A structured theoretical model based on leadership, people, processes, knowledge processes, technology, learning and KM results was developed and tested.
Design/methodology/approach
A survey was conducted with the employees of a public higher education institution where an administrative reform was initiated. A valid sample of 257 respondents was obtained. The data were obtained from the application of a structured questionnaire based on the KM drivers and their results. A five-point Likert-type scale was used to measure respondents' answers. The main data analysis technique was structural equation modeling.
Findings
The results indicate knowledge processes, leadership and people factors have a positive and significant impact on KM results. On the other hand, organizational processes, technology and learning factors were not significant. However, the service length of servants in the institution influences the perception of knowledge drivers.
Practical implications
Public institutions should be attentive to people with more time of service because they may have difficulties with technological advances, reorganization of processes and adaptation to new ways of sharing knowledge.
Originality/value
This study advances on the analysis of KM results in the public sector and tests the moderation effect of time of service.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to investigate the impact of several factors on customer satisfaction and intention of reusing ride-hailing services that is a new type of passenger urban transport service.
Design/methodology/approach
This research applied the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling analysis method to examine the measurement scale and to analyze the primary data collected from 388 passengers in Vietnam.
Findings
This study demonstrates that three dimensions of perceived value, namely, functional value, hedonic value and economic value, positively influence customer satisfaction. The other dimension of perceived value, which is social value, has an ambiguous effect on satisfaction. In addition, personal innovativeness promotes all dimensions of perceived value. In particular, this study highlights that customer satisfaction and corporate image positively impact reuse intention, and corporate image moderates the relationship between customer satisfaction and reuse intention.
Originality/value
This study enriches knowledge about customer behavior using services based on the sharing economy business model. In particular, theoretical and practical implications are provided for researchers and enterprises to find suitable strategies for business.

Purpose
Based on the conservation of resources theory, this study aims to investigate if the fear of career harm influences employees’ knowledge-hoarding behavior. The study further examines felt violation as the predictor of employees’ fear of career harm. The study also explores leader-member exchange as a boundary factor influencing the effect of felt violation on employees’ fear of career harm.
Design/methodology/approach
The data were collected in three waves from 402 professionals working in the information technology industry in Bengaluru, popularly known as the Silicon Valley of India.
Findings
The findings indicate fear of career harm as a critical predictor of employees’ knowledge-hoarding behavior. Moreover, felt violation indirectly impacts knowledge-hoarding behavior by enhancing employees’ fear of career harm. The adverse effect of felt violation was found to be stronger for employees with poor-quality relationships with their leaders.
Practical implications
The study carries important managerial implications as it uncovers the antecedents of knowledge hoarding. First, the human resource department can devise specific guidelines to ensure that the employees are treated the way they were promised. They can also organize training opportunities and mentoring so that the employees’ performance and growth do not get hampered, even if there is a violation. Moreover, such cases should be addressed in an adequate and expedited manner. More significantly, leaders can compensate for the failure of organizational-level levers by developing quality relationships with their subordinates.
Originality/value
The study advances the existing literature on knowledge hoarding by establishing a novel antecedent. Furthermore, it identifies how the employee-leader relationship’s quality can mitigate the adverse effect of felt violation.

Purpose
This paper aims to test the effects of brand experience and brand love on brand loyalty and willingness to pay a premium price in streaming television services.
Design/methodology/approach
Structural equation modelling was used to assess the proposed theoretical model drawing on data from 220 subscribers of a well-known TV streaming brand services (Netflix).
Findings
The results revealed that brand experience and brand love have a significant direct impact on brand loyalty and willingness to pay a premium price in streaming TV services. Also, the impact brand experience has on brand loyalty and on willingness to pay a premium price is partially mediated by brand love.
Practical implications
In the streaming television industry, brand managers can create more meaningful experiences that create strong and emotional bonds with users, thereby increasing loyalty levels and intention to pay a premium price. Also, brand managers should consider focusing their efforts to young consumers, as they have a stronger attachment to technology than older generational groups.
Originality/value
This paper enriches the existing literature on brand experience in the entertainment television industry and provides evidence of the role of experience and brand love on brand loyalty and willingness to pay a premium price in services.

Hallazgos
Los resultados revelan que la experiencia de marca y el amor a la marca tienen un impacto significativo y directo en la lealtad a la marca y la disposición a pagar un precio más elevado en el contexto de televisión por streaming. También, el impacto que tiene la experiencia de marca en la lealtad a la marca y en la disposición para pagar un precio más elevado es parcialmente mediado por el amor a la marca.
Implicaciones prácticas
En el contexto de la industria de entretenimiento (televisión por streaming), los gerentes de marca pueden diseñar significativas experiencias que sean capaces de crear fuertes lazos emocionales con sus usuarios, incrementando sus niveles de lealtad y disposición a pagar más. Además, los gerentes de marca deben considerar enfocarse al segmento de consumidores jóvenes, pues ellos tienen más apego a la tecnología que las personas mayores.
Originalidad/valor
Este estudio enriquece la literatura existente sobre experiencia de marca en el sector del entretenimiento televisivo aportando evidencia del rol de la experiencia y del amor hacia la marca en la lealtad y la disposición a pagar un precio elevado.
