Abstract
Purpose
The Indonesian Government demanded that all beverages and food products, including rice, be halal-certified. Farmers play a crucial role in the rice halal certification procedures. The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors influencing farmers’ intentions and behaviours towards halal rice production.
Design/methodology/approach
Partial least squares–structural equation modelling was used to analyse survey data collected from 278 rice farmers in Indonesia.
Findings
This study indicates that farmers’ intentions and perceived behavioural control have a favourable and significant impact on their behaviours towards halal rice farming. Importantly, halal certification awareness can operate as a moderator to improve the effects of attitude on farmers’ intentions to comply with halal requirements in rice production.
Practical implications
This study’s results hold significant practical implications for stakeholders interested in encouraging farmers to purchase halal-certified rice seeds and sell paddy to halal-certified rice milling companies. Efforts to improve farmers’ knowledge and awareness of halal certification include organising halal certification courses, creating a supportive social environment, sharing farmers’ success stories and establishing support mechanisms to assist farmers in incorporating halal concepts into their businesses.
Originality/value
Research on halal certification from producers’ perspectives, particularly among farmers, remains limited. This study addresses this gap by exploring farmers’ behaviours towards halal rice production and contributing insights for stakeholders interested in promoting halal rice certification.

Purpose
The study aims to investigate the roles of trust and team cohesiveness as mediating variables to transmit the effect of transformational leadership dimensions on job satisfaction.
Design/methodology/approach
The study employs a quantitative approach with 405 respondents as the samples. The respondents are teachers and staff of schools in East Java, Indonesia. The data are analyzed using partial least square (PLS).
Findings
Trust and team cohesiveness fully mediate the relationship between idealized influences on job satisfaction. Besides, idealized influence, inspirational motivation and individualized consideration directly affect job satisfaction.
Research limitations/implications
The relationship between transformational leadership and employee job satisfaction in educational institutions has been rarely explored. The study contributes to the literature on the role of trust and team cohesiveness in transmitting the effect of transformational leadership dimensions on job satisfaction of school employees.
Practical implications
To increase employee job satisfaction at schools, principals need to be highly concerned about trust in the leader–follower relationship. Therefore, principals are responsible for responding to the followers' needs and aspirations and caring for followers.
Originality/value
The significance of the result findings lies in the detailed model that transmits the direct and indirect effect of the transformational leadership dimensions on job satisfaction.

Purpose
The purpose of the study is to reviewing community empowerment in ecological conservation through the Coral Reef Rehabilitation and Management Program (COREMAP). This research is under a governance perspective, namely transparency, accountability and community participation in Bahari Village, South Buton District, Indonesia.
Design/methodology/approach
Data were collected in three ways: they are interviews, observation and documentation. Data were analyzed using qualitative descriptive methods.
Findings
The empowerment of coastal village communities through the COREMAP program is not fully managed properly referring to the principles of transparency, accountability and participatory. In addition, the role of stakeholders is not maximal, where the government and the companion are not able to provide solutions to the problem of community empowerment while the apathetic community in the implementation of empowerment program. So that empowerment does not fully have a positive impact on coastal communities. While the sustainability of the empowerment program is threatened with failure, which has an impact on COREMAP's environmental damage and coastal communities.
Originality/value
The originality of this research is that the study was conducted on coastal communities in ecological conservation through the COREMAP program in Bahari Village, South Buton Regency.
