Abstract
Purpose
The current extensive literature on the home‐country employment effect of foreign direct investment (FDI) focuses almost exclusively on the investments from developed countries. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the home‐country employment effect in China, a country that has emerged as an important emerging economy increasingly integrated into the global economy.
Design/methodology/approach
This study investigates the long‐run relationships between outward FDI and employment in China. Johansen's cointegration technique and Toda and Yamamoto's Granger causality tests are applied to data for the period 1982‐2007.
Findings
The results indicate that outward FDI from China had a positive impact on the home‐country employment growth, especially in tertiary industry. These results also imply that the logic of the outward investments from low‐cost transitional and developing economies differs from that of high‐income countries.
Originality/value
In this paper, the authors analyze the home‐country employment effect of FDI in China.

Abstract
Purpose
The literature on help-seeking at work has experienced significant growth in the past decades. However, our knowledge about this research domain remains fragmented and lacks sufficient theoretical integration. Therefore, this paper aims to comprehensively integrate the extant literature on help-seeking behavior at work and propose an overarching, organized framework to propel this field forward.
Design/methodology/approach
A state-of-the-art review and theoretical development on help-seeking at work are conducted.
Findings
First, the authors provide the conceptual clarity of its definitions, key characteristics, types and measurement techniques. Second, the authors develop a fine-grained and integrative process-based framework consisting of antecedents, proximal psychological mechanisms, subsequent influencing processes and distal outcomes to advance our understanding of seeking help in the workplace. Third, the authors offer a detailed agenda for future research to target opportunities within the field.
Originality/value
The current study is comprehensive in surveying the full body of knowledge on help-seeking at work. It uniquely provides a coherent overarching framework that organizes prior findings and channels future research. Additionally, this review paints a complete picture of what has been done and what needs to be done in the field. More research can be spurred based on our conceptual framework.

This paper aims to find a new method that could be applied to the high and mid-grade prosthesis knee joint.
Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to find a new method that could be applied to the high and mid-grade prosthesis knee joint.
Design/methodology/approach
Based on analysis, calculation, modeling, simulation and experimental study of the motion law of knee joint, this paper not only determines the structure and parameters of the knee joint and calculates the instantaneous center but also analyzes the stance stability and completes the optimization. With the help of experimental tests (fatigue test and gait curve test), the quality and performance of the designed knee joint is verified.
Findings
The experimental results show that the gait curve of the designed knee joint is much closer to health people. The designed prosthesis knee joint, with adjustable swing speed and gait curve which are close to health limb, has a better performance when compared to the ordinary knee joint with four-bar linkage structure.
Originality/value
This paper developed a prosthesis knee joint based on a novel design method that could be applied to the “high and mid” grade prosthesis knee joint and verified its function on an amputee performed the lower amputation, which could provide theoretical support for researches and designs related to prosthesis knee joint in future.
