Abstract
Purpose
Travel bragging, driven by impression management, is common on social media. However, straightforward bragging can create negative perceptions. To mitigate this, tourists often turn to humblebragging, but its effectiveness is unclear. This study aims to examine whether humblebragging elicits more positive responses from viewers than straightforward bragging.
Design/methodology/approach
Drawing on social comparison theory and compensation theory, this paper developed a moderated mediation model to explore the impact of bragging type (bragging vs humblebragging) on viewer behavior. The model was validated through two scenario-based experiments.
Findings
The results reveal the double-sword effect of humblebragging: Humblebragging elicits stronger benign and malicious envy than bragging. Benign envy mediates the relationship between bragging type and consumption intention, while malicious envy mediates between bragging type and avoidance/gossip. Perceived deservingness moderates the effect of bragging type on envy and the mediation processes. When viewers perceive the poster’s advantage as deserving, humblebragging elicits more benign envy than bragging. When perceived as undeserving, humblebragging leads to more malicious envy.
Originality/value
This study is innovative in validating the double-edged sword effect of humblebragging and identifying perceived deservingness as a boundary condition.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to reveal the knowledge evolution process, research hotspots and future trends in the accessible tourism research literature from 2008 to 2020.
Design/methodology/approach
A total of 213 articles on accessible tourism were selected from the core collection database of Web of Science (WoS) and analyzed using CiteSpace.
Findings
Over the 13-year period between 2008 and 2020, an increasing number of studies have been published concerning accessible tourism, but the overall base is still small. The research content mainly includes six modules. Among institutions, the University of Technology Sydney has published the largest number of papers. Cooperation among countries involves the USA, the United Kingdom, Australia, Portugal and China. Tourism Management is the leading journal for disseminating research on accessible tourism. Definition of “Accessible tourism” and the different scope of this phenomenon are re-discussed. In recent years, “experience” and “participation” have become the “new favorites” in accessible tourism research, which could reveal insights into future research directions.
Research limitations/implications
The sampling frame was defined in terms of the WoS database and even though this is an important database for global academic information, in the big data era, the authors may have to integrate information from multiple sources to comprehensively reveal and understand knowledge maps. Second, because of the operational constraints of the CiteSpace software, the authors only selected outputs published in peer-reviewed journals, excluding other published works, such as books and conference papers. Finally, because of the language restrictions of the authors, this research is limited to journals published in the English language.
Practical implications
Practically, the results of this study made a conclusion of accessible tourism research so that the researchers can easily know what has currently been done and what future research can do. Tourism managers can also understand the demands and the constraints of tourism for the people who have barriers to travel. They can supply more specific products for the accessible tourism and further promote the construction of barrier-free travel environments.
Originality/value
This paper unifies the literature on senior tourism and people with disabilities tourism, and uses CiteSpace to construct data and network visualizations, including a burst and dynamic analysis for the period covered by the sample. Furthermore, this paper proposed a more diversified accessible tourism.

Abstract
Purpose
The strategic application of electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM) is pivotal in shaping tourist decisions. This study aims to examine the nuanced impacts of endorsement styles and the innovative role of emojis on the persuasiveness of eWOM, highlighting essential insights for digital marketing effectiveness.
Design/methodology/approach
Using a robust experimental design, this research engaged 376 participants through scenario-based experiments on popular platforms Ctrip and Xiaohongshu. This study leveraged the professional online data platform, Credamo, to ensure a diverse and representative sample.
Findings
The analysis demonstrates that implicit endorsements, such as “I like this restaurant,” consistently outperform explicit endorsements like “I recommend this restaurant” regarding persuasiveness. This effect is attributed to the enhanced perceived authenticity and reduced persuasion knowledge activation by implicit endorsements. Remarkably, incorporating emojis within explicit endorsements mitigates their inherent drawbacks, enhancing their persuasive impact. In contrast, emojis do not significantly influence the effectiveness of implicit endorsements.
Practical implications
The findings provide significant insights, demonstrating that endorsement styles and emojis play a crucial role in identifying persuasive eWOM and fostering the creation of compelling eWOM for tourism and hospitality marketers. These elements can help marketers effectively track and enhance the impact of eWOM in their digital strategies.
Originality/value
This research maps the effects of endorsement styles and highlights the strategic role of emojis in eWOM, offering practical insights for maximizing persuasion and enhancing digital marketing strategies in tourism and hospitality.

Abstract
Purpose
High-strength martensitic steels having strong hydrogen embrittlement (HE) susceptibility and the metal carbide (MC) nanoprecipitates of microalloying elements such as Nb, V, Ti and Mo in the steel matrix can effectively improve the HE resistance of steels. This paper aims to review the effect of MC nanoprecipitates on the HE resistance of high-strength martensitic steels.
Design/methodology/approach
In this paper, the effects of MC nanoprecipitates on the HE resistance of high-strength martensitic steels are systematically described in terms of the types of MC nanoprecipitates, the influencing factors, along with numerical simulations.
Findings
The MC nanoprecipitates, which are fine and semicoherent with the matrix, effectively improve the HE resistance of steel through the hydrogen trapping effects and microstructure optimization, but its effect on the HE resistance of steel is controlled by its size, number and distribution state.
Originality/value
This paper summarizes the effects and mechanisms of MC nanoprecipitates on HE performance of high-strength martensitic steel and provides the theoretical basis for corrosion engineers to design high-strength martensitic steels with excellent HE resistance and improve production processes.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of ferrite on hydrogen embrittlement (HE) of the 17-4PH stainless steels.
Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of ferrite on hydrogen embrittlement (HE) of the 17-4PH stainless steels.
Design/methodology/approach
The effects of ferrite on HE of the 17-4PH stainless steels were investigated by observing microstructure and conducting slow-strain-rate tensile tests and hydrogen permeability tests.
Findings
The microstructure of the ferrite-bearing sample is lath martensite and banded ferrite, and the ferrite-free sample is lath martensite. After hydrogen charging, the plasticity of the two steels is significantly reduced, along with the tensile strength of the ferrite-free sample. The HE susceptibility of the ferrite-bearing sample is significantly lower than the ferrite-free steel, and the primary fracture modes gradually evolved from typical dimple to quasi-cleavage and intergranular cracking. After aging at 480°C for 4 h and hydrogen charging for 12 h, the 40.9% HE susceptibility of ferrite-bearing samples was the lowest. In addition, the hydrogen permeation tests show that ferrite is a fast diffusion channel for hydrogen, and the ferrite-bearing samples have higher effective hydrogen diffusivity and lower hydrogen concentration.
Originality/value
There are a few studies of the ferrite effect on the HE properties of martensitic precipitation hardening stainless steel.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of the cementite morphology on the hydrogen trapping behavior in low-alloy pipeline steel.
Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of the cementite morphology on the hydrogen trapping behavior in low-alloy pipeline steel.
Design/methodology/approach
In this study, the hydrogen trapping behavior in low-alloy pipeline steel was quantitatively studied by a combination of microstructural observations, electrochemical hydrogen permeation experiments and thermal desorption spectroscopy (TDS) analyses.
Findings
P-1 and P-2 steels are two samples with different microstructures. The morphology of cementite precipitates in the P-1 and P-2 steels was different. Lamellar cementite is present in P-2 steel and only granular cementite in P-1 steel, which led to a better irreversible hydrogen trapping ability of P-2 steel, which was confirmed by subsequent hydrogen permeation and TDS experiments.
Originality/value
The study of these deep hydrogen trap sites is helpful in improving the hydrogen embrittlement resistance of low-alloy pipeline steels.

This study sought to evaluate the relationship between value relevance of financial information and conditional conservatism of non-financial companies listed in China.
Abstract
Purpose
This study sought to evaluate the relationship between value relevance of financial information and conditional conservatism of non-financial companies listed in China.
Design/methodology/approach
Using panel data comprising of 28,723 firm years, the authors determine the value relevance of financial information before and after mandatory International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) adoption while incorporating the relationship with conditional conservatism. The authors further examined how this relationship varies between state and non-state owned companies.
Findings
Conditional conservatism is positively (negatively) related to value relevance prior (post) to mandatory IFRS adoption while it makes no difference as to whether a company is state or non-state owned, as IFRS has a positive and significant effect on value relevance. Conservatism, on the other hand, has a negative and insignificant relationship with market value of both state and non-state owned firms during the pre- and post-IFRS period.
Originality/value
By exploring an emerging economy, the authors provide evidence on the variations in value relevance amongst state and non-state owned firms. In particular, the authors establish the positive effect of IFRS on the value relevance of non-state firms as compared to state-owned institutions.

Abstract
Purpose
Studies on cross-culture marketing often focus on either localization or globalization strategies. Based on data from pre-communist China (1912–1949), product hybridization – defined as a process or strategy that generates symbols, designs, behaviors and cultural identities that blend local and global elements – emerges as a popular intermediate strategy worthy of further inquiry. After examining the mechanisms and processes underlying this strategy, a schema for classifying product hybridization strategies is developed and illustrated. The paper aims to discuss these issues.
Design/methodology/approach
Critical historical research method is applied to historical data and historical “traces” from pre-communist China’s corporate documents, memoirs, posters, advertisements, newspapers and secondhand sources.
Findings
Strategic interactions between domestic and foreign companies in pre-communist China fostered products and a city (Shanghai) containing Chinese and non-Chinese elements. Informed by historical traces and data from pre-communist China (1912-1949), a 2 × 2 classification schema relating company type (i.e. foreign or domestic) to values spectrum endpoint (i.e. domestic vs foreign) was formulated. This schema reflects the value of communication, negotiation and cultural (inter)penetration that accompanies cross-culture product flows.
Research limitations/implications
Cross-culture marketing strategies meant to help companies satisfy diverse marketplace interests can induce a mélange of product design elements. Because product hybridization reflects reciprocity between domestic and foreign companies that embodies multiple interests and contrasting interpretations of product meanings, researchers should examine globalization and localization synergistically.
Practical implications
Strategies adopted by domestic and foreign companies in pre-communist China (1912–1949) can help contemporary companies design effective cross-culture marketing strategies in a global marketplace infused with competing meanings and interests.
Originality/value
Examining historical strategies adopted in pre-communist China (1912–1949) can inform contemporary marketers’ intuitions. Understanding product hybridization in global marketplaces can improve marketing efficiency.

Abstract
Purpose
Unmanned aerial/ground vehicles (UAV/UGV) collaboration systems are increasingly being used to perform reconnaissance and rescue missions autonomously, especially in disaster areas. The paper aims to discuss this issue.
Design/methodology/approach
To improve visibility, this study proposes a path-planning algorithm based on map matching. Continuous ground images are first collected aerially using the UAV vision system. Subsequently, a global map of the ground environment is created by processing the collected images using the methods of image correction, image mosaic and obstacle recognition. The local map of the ground environment is obtained using the 2D laser radar sensor of the UGV. A set of features for both global and local maps is established. Unknown values during map matching are determined via the least squares method. Based on the matched mapping, the traditional A* algorithm is used for the planning of global path in the global map, and the dynamic window method is used for adjustment of the local map.
Findings
Simulation experiments were carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can construct a global map of the wide environment and effectively bypass the obstacles missed by the UAV.
Research limitations/implications
Prior to map matching, there is a need to extract the edge of obstacles in the global map.
Originality/value
This paper proposed a path planning algorithm based on map matching, yielding insights into the application of the UAV/UGV collaboration systems in disaster areas.
