Abstract
Purpose
Economic development is one of the primary goals of all countries. In this context, countries aim to determine effective and correct policies to achieve this goal. This situation is especially important for developing countries. These countries aim to grow their economies to reach the level of developed countries. This study aims to identify significant Islamic moral principles for sustainable economic growth of emerging seven (E7) countries.
Design/methodology/approach
In this framework, eight different criteria are defined to improve the welfare in the society for these countries. Additionally, fuzzy decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) approach is taken into consideration in the analysis process.
Findings
It is identified that Islamic moral values in economic activities, fair income distribution and taxation and prohibition of interest and securing business partnership are the most significant criteria. On the other side, it is found that preventing poverty and avoiding wastage are the influenced factors.
Practical implications
The findings show that righteousness in commercial activities decreases uncertainty in the market so that trade volume can be increased which contributes sustainable economic improvement. For this purpose, public awareness about the issue should be improved in the media and necessary trainings should be given to the people in their educations related to the business ethics. Furthermore, legal system in these countries should be improved to have fair income distribution and taxation. Additionally, social responsibility activities should be encouraged, so people with good income will help poor people. Moreover, business partnership system should be improved in which companies can obtain capital from the public and make necessary payments to these people according to the profit amount. This issue positively affects sustainability in economic improvement and welfare society for developing countries.
Originality/value
There are limited studies on sustainable economic development based on Islamic moral-based factors.

Abstract
The aim of this study is to examine the effect of trade wars between countries on social factors. For this purpose, six different criteria are selected based on the comprehensive literature review. Additionally, fuzzy DEMATEL approach is considered to weight these criteria. The findings indicate that working life is the most significant criterion. However, free time and leisure and family are at the bottom of the list. Additionally, it is also defined that working life is the most influencing criterion. These results demonstrate that trade wars have the highest impact on the working life of the people. In other sayings, people’s fear of losing their jobs goes up in case of the trade wars. To solve this problem, companies should make official statements to their employees about the situation caused by the trade wars. By making clear explanations, uncertainties in this process can be minimized.

Abstract
Carbon emission is one of the most important issues threatening the existence of the world. Mostly carbon emission induced climate change disrupts human and nature balance. Carbon emission occurs as a result of practices that are dependent on human activities or not. One of the actors causing carbon emissions is production companies. The companies are working toward reducing carbon emissions. However, although these efforts reduce carbon emissions in the short term, carbon emissions continue in the long term. Therefore, the present study aims to determine the importance of carbon emission in terms of sustainable economic development. Depending on this purpose, production companies in Chile were included in the scope of research for 1990–2019. Based on these data, the study has been tested by Toda Yamamoto causality analysis. Result shows that carbon emissions are not the primary cause of sustainable economic development. In this context, governments need to focus on other issues that have a stronger causal relationship with sustainable economic development. However, studies should be conducted to determine the importance of other activities of companies for sustainable economic development. Hereby, the amount of carbon emission will be reduced and deficiencies in factors affecting sustainable economic development will be identified.

Abstract
The aim of this chapter is to determine the relationship between labor productivity and economic development. In this context, the annual data of Turkey on a range of 1970–2017 are included in the study period. On the other hand, these data are tested with the help of Toda Yamamoto causality analysis. Thus, it will be possible to determine whether there is a strong relationship between the two variables. According to the obtained results of the analysis, it is defined that there is a causal relationship from labor productivity to economic growth in Turkey. Based on these results, it can be said that labor productivity should rise in order to increase economic development in Turkey. For this purpose, educational programs in Turkey can be revised with the help of a detailed study. In this process, cooperation with companies to understand the needs in the market plays a key role. Additionally, regulations should also be prepared related to the salaries of the employees. If it can be possible to prevent employees from receiving wages below a certain amount by placing a minimum legal limit on salaries, it will be possible to increase the motivation of the employees. This situation has a positive and significant contribution to the labor productivity.
