Abstract
In this performance autoethnography, through a layered text with a blurred aesthetic format, which mixes life stories and academic scholarship, the author offers visceral knowledge of his encounters with Professor Denzin the person, as well as his scholarly work. How the author leaned from Denzin the possibilities to try to advance decolonizing discourses that may lead to more inclusive notions of social justice questioning the uncontrolled desire to categorize and control the Other. It is a personal narrative full of hope and love, where the author tries to demonstrate, from his arrival at the University of Illinois in August of 1999 to the present day, his deepest gratitude to his advisor, his muse. The blessing of having Denzin in his life.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to explain the FSA's new disclosure regime for short selling during rights issues, which it introduced by amending the Code of Market Conduct (MAR 1) under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (FSMA).
Design/methodology/approach
The paper outlines the new provisions; explains the legal basis for the new regime; details the specific additions to the Code of Market Conduct; discusses the use of the UK super‐equivalent positions; explains the lack of FSA consultation based on urgent need for action; discusses practical issues for market participants, including compliance systems and controls; provides answers to frequently asked questions (FAQs) relating to the scope of the regime in terms of issuers and transactions covered, the applicability of the disclosure requirement to pre‐existing positions, the timing of intra‐day positions, netting of short and long positions for the purpose of calculating whether a short position reaches the threshold, including short positions in a rights issue in the calculation of the overall net short position, the exclusion of positions an entity holds in its capacity as a market maker, the requirement for the legal entity that holds the short position to make the required disclosures but not to aggregate positions held by its affiliates, the means of disclosure, disclosure deadlines, the content of disclosures, and disclosure of changes in position; and indicates likely further FSA action.
Findings
The new measures require market disclosure of short positions of 0.25 per cent or more in companies undertaking rights issues. The deadline for required disclosures is 3.30 pm on the business day following the day the short position threshold is reached. The new rules apply to shares in UK‐listed companies from 20 June 2008. The measures have been implemented as changes to the Code of Market Conduct rather than FSA rules as such. Rather than carrying out a consultation and cost‐benefit analysis as normally required by the FSMA, the FSA apparently relied on the FSMA's provisions that allow immediate amendments in cases of urgent need. The FSA is undertaking a wider review of the capital‐raising process and considering other measures, such as restrictions on stock lending.
Practical implications
On an ongoing basis firms need to have in place systems and controls that identify announcements by companies that they are undertaking rights issues subject to the regime and provide the means to calculate the level of positions held by the firm that might require disclosure.
Originality/value
The paper offers practical guidance by experienced securities lawyers.

Abstract
The use of metaphoric language has grown in prevalence in recent years. Frontline organizations have become “magical kingdoms”: ethereal places where image and substance rarely coincide, and where metaphors turn into powerful tools for consultants and change agents. At the same time, scholars explore the “wonderful world of metaphors”. Once simple figures of speech, metaphors have been transformed into a respectable approach for organizational analysis. Although millenarian, the theatre metaphor constitutes an attractive system of ideas for studying organizational phenomena. In this paper, the theatre metaphor is used as a point of departure for the development of another dramaturgical metaphor: the cinema metaphor. It is suggested that the latter might provide a better perspective for studying contemporary organizations in the age of spectacle.

Abstract
Purpose
Sediment measurement is usually accessible on a periodic or distinct basis. The measurement of sediment (suspended and bedload), especially in the field, is vital in keeping essential data of sediment transport and deposition. Various techniques for measuring sediment have been used over time each with its merits and demerits. The techniques discussed in this paper for suspended sediment include bottle, acoustic, pump, laser diffraction, nuclear and optical. Other techniques for bedload measurement are; River bedload trap (RBT), CSU/FU bedload trap, Helley–Smith, Polish Hydrological Services (PIHM) device, pit and trough, vortex tube, radioactive traces and bedload–surrogate technologies. However, the choice of technique depends on multiple factors ranging from budget constraint, availability of equipment, manpower and data requirement. The purpose of this paper is to present valuable information on selected techniques used in sediment measurement, to aid researchers/practitioners in the choice of sediment measurement technique.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper presents a general review of selected field techniques used in sediment measurement (suspended and bedload). Each techniques mode of operation, merits and demerits are discussed.
Findings
This paper highlights that each technique has its peculiar merits and demerits. However, two techniques are generally preferred over others; the bottle sampling and the Helley–Smith sampler for measuring suspended and bedload sediment. This is because the applicability of these techniques is quite widespread and time-tested.
Originality/value
This review paper provides an in-depth description and comparison of selected existing field sediment measurement techniques. The objective is to ease decision-making about the choice of technique, as well as to identify the suitability and applicability of the chosen technique.

Abstract
Recent years have witnessed the growth of a new food problem—foreign matter in articles of food and drink, which are not there by design, but largely by accident and, to some extent, by carelessness, and in the greatest number of cases, resulting from the enormous development of machine preparation of food, mechanisation of packing and bottling processes, as well as the concentration of food manufacturing into larger and larger units. The tide of prosecutions for this type of offence shows no signs of abating; they probably exceed all other offences under food legislation. Nor can they be expected to with this increasing trend in the food industry. The machine operative has replaced the old hand craftsman and it would probably be fair to say that many of the personal objects found in food preparations result from mechanisation, for a cigarette end or other object accidentally dropped into a fast‐moving food matrix is quickly beyond recall! The cases which go to prosecution, however, do not represent by any means all those incidents which are reported to public health and other departments, and these in turn are only a fraction of the cases which are never reported at all.

Abstract
This chapter celebrates just some of Norman Denzin's many research contributions, outlets and gatherings, and encouragement and support of individuals over the course of his career. I suggest that these contributions can be described as a sustained effort to make and foster a capacious – expansive – inquiry.
