Abstract
Purpose
In the current scenario, air pollution and soil pollution from the industries wastes are one of the major problems all over the world. Further, disposal of these wastes from industries are very costly. However, several attempts were carried out by various researchers in the past to use these wastes. One of the most common waste products is bagasse from sugar industries. These hazardous bagasse wastes lead to air and soil pollution. This study aims to recycle bagasse waste in the development of aluminium base composite as partial replacement of ceramic particles.
Design/methodology/approach
In the present investigation, recycled bagasse waste was used in the development of aluminium base composite as partial replacement of ceramic particles such as SiC, Al2O3 and B4C. Production industries of these ceramic particles (SiC, B4C and Al2O3) emit huge amount of greenhouse gases such as N2O3, CH4, CO2 and H2O. These green house gases produce lots of environment problem. Furthermore, production of these ceramic particles is also costly. AA6061 aluminium alloy was taken as matrix material. Composite material was developed using the stir casting technique.
Findings
Microstructure results showed proper distribution of bagasse ash and MgO powder in the aluminium base metal matrix composite. It was notified from analysis that minimum corrosion loss and minimum porosity were found for Al/2.5% bagasse ash/12.5% MgO powder composite. For the same composition, hardness and thermal expansion were also observed better as compared to other selected compositions. However, density and cost of composites continuously decrease by increasing percentage of bagasse ash in development of composite.
Originality/value
Results showed about 11.30% improvement in tensile strength, 11.64% improvement in specific strength and 40% improvement in hardness by using bagasse ash as reinforcement with MgO powder in development of aluminium base composite.

Abstract
Purpose
ChatGPT is an advanced artificial intelligence (AI) form that can generate human-like text based on large amounts of data. This paper aims to empirically examine the ChatGPT adoption level among Indian individuals by considering the key factors in determining individuals’ attitudes and intentions toward newly emerged AI tools.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper used “partial least square structural equation modeling” (PLS-SEM) to investigate the relation among several latent factors by applying a representative sample of 351 individuals.
Findings
This study found that trialability, performance expectancy and personal innovativeness significantly influence individuals' attitudes, while compatibility and effort expectancy do not significantly impact attitudes. Additionally, trialability, performance expectancy, effort expectancy, personal innovativeness and attitude significantly influence behavioral intentions. However, compatibility has an insignificant impact on behavioral intention. Moreover, the research highlights that attitude and behavioral intention directly correlate with actual use. Specifically, the absence of compatibility makes people hesitate to use technology that does not meet their specific needs.
Practical implications
These unique findings provide valuable insights for technology service providers and government entities. They can use this information to shape their policies, deliver timely and relevant updates and enhance their strategies to boost the adoption of ChatGPT.
Originality/value
This paper is one of the pioneering attempts to exhibit the research stream to understand the individual acceptance of ChatGPT in an emerging country. Moreover, it gained significant attention from individuals for delivering a unique experience and promising solutions.

Abstract
Purpose
The study aims to examine the influence of Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) and anthropomorphic design cues in determining the level of satisfaction among banking chatbot users. It also tests the moderating impact of the localization of content on the relationship. The study also encompasses expectation confirmation, elucidating the significance of perceived trust in maintaining intention.
Design/methodology/approach
The study conducted a comprehensive online survey, collecting 667 questionnaires from users of conversational chatbots in both public and private sector banks. We analyse the data using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling and fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis.
Findings
Performance and effort expectancy, perceived interestingness of interaction and perceived empathy were identified as significant indicators, whereas facilitating conditions, social influence and perceived intelligence were not significant in explaining satisfaction. Perceived trust was a significant mediator, while localization was a significant moderator in all the cases except social influence and satisfaction.
Practical implications
To improve perceived intelligence and empathy, tech developers should focus on improving the chatbot’s ability to maintain contextual understanding within a conversation where it can remember and reference previous interactions. Future studies might explore the development of banking chatbots that incorporate advanced levels of anthropomorphic characteristics, whether visual or intuitive.
Originality/value
The work is unique in that it integrates UTATUT, anthropomorphism and expectation confirmation model in the context of conversational banking chatbots, which is not achievable in a single theory-based model. The study also underlined the necessity of localizing chatbot content, recommending that banks engage localized native speakers to help with chatbot training and content creation, where specialists can fine-tune the conversational features.

Purpose
Digital disruption has posed challenges to managers. Metaverse is one of the fastest-growing digital transformations (DTs) impacting business across the globe. There needs to be more literature on the academic prospect relating to metaverse. This article aims to analyze and evaluate the publications to highlight themes, opportunities and contemporary challenges of metaverse in business management to get insights about the challenges posed to managers through such transformation.
Design/methodology/approach
Over 74 articles from 2006 to 2022 were collected using the Scopus database. These were further analyzed to understand how previous research captures metaverse in the domain of business management and the amount to which has been studied in terms of publication productivity, country productivity, affiliation productivity and author productivity, Top-cited documents, keywords analysis, network visualization of keywords and bibliometric coupling. The authors also gathered literature related to metaverse in the field of business management and its uses for managers.
Findings
The authors' findings reveal that metaverse in business management has gained momentum in publications since 2022. Approximately 68% of total publications and 56% of total citations were from 2022. USA is the flagbearer of metaverse around the globe and the University of Georgia is leading in affiliation productivity. Network analysis through Vosviewer shows that keywords metaverse and virtual reality (VR) have the highest co-occurrences and link strength.
Originality/value
This article is relevant to those interested in how the world of virtual workspace is making a paradigm shift in management development. This study aims to review previous literary works through bibliometrics and visualization approaches comprehensively. Metaverse is changing the schema of the business world in terms of various strategies that this article addressed. Such studies have not been previously carried out.

Purpose
The study examines the impact of various aspects of channel integration quality, personalisation and perceived warmth on behavioural outcomes through customer engagement in omnichannel retailing.
Design/methodology/approach
This study is based on the responses of 458 participants, gathered using purposive and snowball sampling methods. PLS-SEM and FIMIX-PLS have been used to examine the heterogeneity in respondents’ views.
Findings
The findings emphasise the favourable influence of various facets of omnichannel strategy on customer engagement, which enhances brand affection, leading to stickiness and willingness to pay price premium. Furthermore, identifying three separate customer categories provides detailed insights into how omnichannel aspects appeal to consumer preferences.
Practical implications
The findings underscore the need to use customised approaches to cultivate lasting relationships with consumers, emphasising the potential of omnichannel retailing in harmonising business success and consumer sentiments. Retailers can identify areas of dissatisfaction within specific segments and eventually focus on improving these areas to provide a seamless experience and increase engagement.
Originality/value
This paper offers a distinctive contribution to the domain of omnichannel retailing by employing structural equation modelling (SEM) along with FIMIX-PLS to explore respondent heterogeneity. In addition to the transactional aspects, this study investigates the crucial elements, including warmth and personalisation strategies and how these influence the holistic customer journey, including their emotional connection with the brand in the omnichannel retailing environment, thereby advancing knowledge in the field and providing relevant implications for industry practice.

Purpose
Technology has revolutionized banking, and “green banking” has been the most recent phenomenon to have caught the financial world's attention. In this paper, the authors look at how personality traits of individuals influence their adoption and continued use of green banking channels. The authors also propose a comprehensive model integrating the “big five” personality traits (conscientiousness, agreeableness, extraversion, openness and neuroticism) into the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), along with expectation confirmation theory. The integrated proposed model is used in this longitudinal study to predict the continued use of green banking channels once adopted.
Design/methodology/approach
The authors collected data during two time periods about 24 weeks apart from 826 green banking channel users from different regions in India. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling.
Findings
The authors found that traits of agreeableness, conscientiousness and extraversion favor an individual adopting green banking channels, while conscientiousness and openness were only associated with its perceived usefulness (PU).
Research limitations/implications
The results offer valuable insights for understanding the adoption and use behavior of people regarding green banking channels. This study would help develop effective segmentation strategies for promoting green banking channels.
Originality/value
By incorporating the big five, along with TAM and Expectation Confirmation Model (ECM), coupled with “trust” as an additional construct, we believe that our study enlarges the boundaries of Information Technology (IT) theories, especially in the context of green banking channels. This study also contributes to advancing the personality theory by exploring how personality traits significantly relate to adopting and using green banking channels.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to examine the influence of gameful experience (GAMEX) on customer brand engagement in the context of e-tailing. Drawing on the self-determination and social learning theories, the authors have developed a comprehensive model incorporating cognitive, emotional and behavioral factors leading to brand advocacy and re-visit intention for the retail website.
Design/methodology/approach
The data for this study were obtained from 715 customers across various e-tailing websites. This research uses both quantitative method (partial least squares structural equation modeling − PLS-SEM) and qualitative method (fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis − fsQCA) to investigate the relationship between GAMEX and customer brand engagement in the e-tailing context, with a focus on the long-term outcomes of brand advocacy and re-visit intention.
Findings
The PLS-SEM results indicate a significant impact of GAMEX on customer brand engagement. In addition, the findings reveal the moderating role of fear of missing out, internet self-efficacy and technoeustress in the association among GAMEX, customer brand engagement, brand advocacy and re-visit intention. The findings from fsQCA support the results obtained from PLS-SEM and reveal four configurations for brand advocacy and five configurations for re-visit intentions.
Originality/value
This research evaluates the impact of GAMEX on customer brand engagement using a mixed-method approach involving qualitative and quantitative procedures. This study offers valuable insights into the design of gamified marketing activities and current practices for fostering greater engagement.

Purpose
Extant literature shows that gamification is an effective tool for enhancing customer brand engagement. However, there is a need for a structured review of the literature on how and to what extent gamification fosters customer brand engagement. This hybrid literature review synthesizes extant research on gamification and its impact on customer brand engagement.
Design/methodology/approach
The study is based on 45 articles drawn from 33 journals from the Scopus database. This article conducts a systematic review of theory, context, characteristics and methods employed in extant research, identifies contemporary themes and presents future research avenues. It also conducts a bibliometric analysis to identify the most prominent journals, authors, articles and themes.
Findings
This review identifies various patterns and trends of psychological capital research, and it unfolds four major themes – gamification and customer engagement, gamification and e-marketing, gamification and sustainable marketing and gamification and customer experience.
Practical implications
This review offers key insights into managerial implications.
Originality/value
It is one of the first endeavors to conduct a structured review of research related to gamification and customer engagement. It presents a conceptual framework that shows the relationships between gamification and customer engagement. This systematic review offers several future research agendas to spur scholarly research and presents key insights into the process of gamification in marketing to enhance customer brand engagement.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to conduct a rigorous bibliometric analysis of impulse buying research trends and patterns, map the conceptual landscape of the field, identify significant themes and propose a roadmap for future studies in this domain.
Design/methodology/approach
This study used Snyder’s (2019) four-step systematic review approach. By using a specific search string, articles from the past 21 years (2003–2023) were retrieved from the Scopus and Web of Science databases. Performance analysis and science mapping were conducted using Biblioshiny to analyze the field’s knowledge base.
Findings
The volume and influence of impulse buying research have surged over the past two decades. The factorial analysis identified three main sub-themes within the impulse buying literature. In addition, Bradford’s law confirmed that the top five journals account for a significant portion of the relevant research. Despite the increased publications, author productivity diverges from Lotka’s law, indicating a few influential authors. This study provides a detailed conceptual map of the research landscape and proposes targeted future research questions by highlighting untapped opportunities.
Research limitations/implications
This study offers insights for refining marketing strategies and highlights the importance of ethical considerations in marketing, especially during crises. It also strengthens the theoretical foundation of impulse buying by mapping core themes and identifying unexplored areas.
Originality/value
This study introduces an innovative approach by using factorial analysis with the multiple correspondence analysis technique to develop a detailed conceptual structure map of impulse buying research. It applies bibliometric laws such as Bradford’s law and Lotka’s law to explain the dispersion of research articles. By identifying core themes, this study charts a roadmap for future inquiry, addressing significant gaps and uncovering new research directions.

Abstract
Purpose
The paper intends to review academic research on peer to peer (P2P) accommodation sharing, notably Airbnb, for 2010–2022 and to identify the knowledge gaps for future research directions.
Design/methodology/approach
Numerous databases were searched using keywords. Based on the central theme of the research papers, the papers were divided into eight segments—consumer behavior, host behavior, host–guest relationship (HGR), trust in Airbnb, dominant theories in Airbnb, Airbnb regulation, Airbnb and hotels and macro impacts of Airbnb. In-depth content analysis resulted in the final 101 papers for inclusion.
Findings
The review advances comprehension of the Airbnb phenomenon by enriching the literature with new and most recent studies. Most existing Airbnb research has been conducted in Europe, USA/Canada, followed by Asian countries like China, Singapore, S. Korea and India. Future studies should include South America, Africa and other developing nations. More cross-cultural studies are required to understand consumer and host behavior in different cultural settings. Numerous proposals to fulfill the research gaps identified by the paper are discussed.
Practical implications
The study will give better insights into the spiraling P2P accommodation economy. The study will be useful to researchers, scholars, Airbnb, the hotel industry, vacation rental players and destination marketing organizations by relating the study findings to practical competition analysis. The study provides deeper insights into the decision-making process of both guests and hosts by examining the relevant motivators and constraints. It will also assist the Airbnb platform in identifying its strength over the traditional hotel industry and other vacation rentals. The findings will also assist policymakers in better controlling the Airbnb phenomena by providing a comprehensive view of the micro and macro environment.
Originality/value
The paper includes the most recent studies from Asian countries like India, Singapore, China, Korea and Taiwan, not covered by earlier reviews. Prior studies mainly focused on European and American countries. Also, the paper tried to cover the macro impacts of Airbnb in-depth and the effects of COVID-19.
