Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to identify energy efficiency metrics that can be used by IT managers to measure and maintain the implementation of cost savings and green initiatives in data centers.
Design/methodology/approach
The paper looks at the background of the problem and explores the reasons why energy savings in the data center are an important issue. Included are interviews and survey results from IT professionals serving at four unique organizations. A model of the measurable components of a data center is created to provide a framework for organizing metrics and communicating results throughout the corporation. The strengths and weaknesses of two of the most common data center metrics, PUE and DCP, are examined closely.
Findings
The paper concludes with future metric recommendations and a proposed credit‐based system that could be applied to encourage closer management of these metrics.
Practical implications
The metric recommendations can be used by IT managers resulting in energy efficiency improvements in their data centers.
Originality/value
The paper provides a good comprehension of multiple approaches and makes recommendations for a platform metric that can be further developed and adopted as a standard.

Abstract
Over the past 25 years as a marketing academic, I have been fortunate to have collaborated with various researchers and firms and have contributed to the advancement of the marketing field. This is a review article that tracks my progress through these years that has led me to explore different areas of marketing, thereby shaping me as a researcher and an academic. As I see now, all of my research work can be viewed from a decision-making point of view – decisions that marketers can make either at the market, brand/firm/store, or the customer level. These decisions have in turn been transformed into strategies or tactics leading up to successful implementations and improved bottom-line results. The development of strategies/tactics and successful implementations can be seen in nearly 10 areas of research that I have involved myself in. This article also highlights how my research studies have contributed and advanced the creation of knowledge in each of these research areas.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to analyze the spinning consistency index (SCI) and its impact on yarn quality. It focuses on the relationship between SCI and the final properties of 30 Ne carded hosiery yarn. By evaluating key quality parameters, the research seeks to determine how SCI can serve as a predictive tool for optimizing yarn production.
Design/methodology/approach
The study involved producing 30 Ne carded hosiery yarn and rigorously testing its properties using the Uster Evenness Tester-5. Various quality parameters, including neps content, mass irregularity, yarn imperfections and tensile behavior, were evaluated at each processing stage.
Findings
The findings reveal that Type 1 yarn demonstrated a count strength product value approximately 15% higher than the other two types. In addition, it exhibited a CVm% that was 18% lower, highlighting reduced mass variation and enhanced uniformity. Regarding imperfections, Type 1 yarn showed a 25% reduction compared to the other two types, reflecting improved fiber spinnability and overall yarn performance.
Originality/value
This research thoroughly examines SCI’s role in yarn production, highlighting its predictive value for optimizing yarn quality. The study offers valuable insights for textile manufacturers seeking to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of their spinning processes, ultimately contributing to the development of higher-quality textile products.

Purpose
Over the last two decades, green supply chain management (GSCM) has enabled businesses to operate in an environmentally friendly manner. The present review examines 234 research articles and proposes a methodical literature review on GSCM, focusing on the aspects of sustainable development.
Design/methodology/approach
The work examines conceptual, analytical, empirical and non-empirical research articles, analyzing at all levels of the organization, such as firm, dyad, supply chain and network. The objective of the review is to provide insights into the state and scope of existing research in the domain of GSCM, to identify the prevalence of GSCM and to consolidate the trend of future research. The literature review follows a systematic methodology for analyzing the literature.
Findings
The findings can support researchers in identifying research areas with significant impact and streamline research on GSCM in the future. Practitioners can utilize this structured classification to strategize their green initiatives in their firms.
Originality/value
The work contributes to providing literature that explores a detailed review in GSCM. The proposed literature review captures critical aspects in the domain of GSCM and offers future research directions.

Abstract
Purpose
Two challenges faced by automotive component design projects within contracted design agencies are (1) specification changes requested by the manufacturers and (2) product information or core technology knowledge leakage to external actors. We examine the effects of targeted boundary activities that address these challenges under the contingencies of environmental uncertainty and project complexity.
Design/methodology/approach
Based on Boundary management theory, a bidirectional model of boundary buffering was conceptualized in the context of design agency teams developing automotive components. A survey is derived from the proposed model. Regression analysis is performed using empirical data from 234 auto component design projects in Chinese design agencies.
Findings
Boundary buffering activities that strengthen outside-in boundaries and inside-out boundaries directly improve the final design quality. Further, the magnitude of effect for outside-in buffering on design quality is enhanced under environmental uncertainty, while the impact of inside-out buffering on design quality is enhanced under project complexity.
Research limitations/implications
Boundary activities should consider differences in boundary targets, directional flow of information, and context of scope.
Practical implications
Automotive component design agents should attend to both outside-in and inside-out boundary buffering, especially under conditions of environmental uncertainty or project complexity.
Originality/value
The proposed bidirectional view on boundary buffering adds perspective to team boundary management theory. Specific contingencies include common risk elements of project complexity and environmental uncertainty not typically associated with the need for buffering activities.

Purpose
Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems have gained wide popularity for their role in manufacturing organizations for creating, managing and distributing product data. These systems are one of various enterprise systems which are required for smooth functioning and meeting the scaling up requirements organization. However, with introduction of cloud technology and other industry 4.0 initiatives, there has been focus on moving the on-premises IT application to the cloud. Such a move needs to be carried out by identifying and evaluating various challenges. This paper aims to discuss the aforementioned objective.
Design/methodology/approach
The challenges identified through literature review have also been confirmed to be present via interview, system observation and documentation review through case study-based validation in an automotive component manufacturing industry.
Findings
The article identifies needs and challenges of cloud PLM systems and presents a generic framework for developing an approach for cloud PLM journey for an organization. The article also provides an approach for resolving the different challenges to realizing the designed system.
Originality/value
The simplified generic framework has been presented for use by industry professionals and researchers for designing cloud PLM systems that would fulfill expectations of different levels of stakeholders.

Purpose
In the Indian system of medicine – Ayurveda, Musa paradisiaca has been mentioned as a remedy for various diseases and ailments. Based on the folkloric use, the purpose of this paper is to verify and compare the hypoglycemic potential of unripe, ripe and overripe fruit extract of Musa paradisiaca.
Design/methodology/approach
Hypoglycemic activity of fruit extracts has been evaluated using various in vitro methods, namely, determination of glucose adsorption capacity, glucose uptake in yeast cells, amylolysis kinetics and glucose diffusion.
Findings
The extracts of unripe, ripe and overripe fruits of Musa paradisiaca adsorbed glucose, and the adsorption of glucose increased remarkably with an increase in glucose concentration. In the amylolysis kinetic experimental model, the rate of glucose diffusion was found to increase with time, and all the extracts of unripe, ripe and overripe fruits of Musa paradisiaca demonstrated significant inhibitory effects on the movement of glucose into external solution across the dialysis membrane as compared to the control. The extracts under study also promoted glucose uptake by the yeast cells in all the five glucose concentrations used in the study.
Practical implications
Here, the authors have verified and compared the hypoglycemic potential of Musa paradisiaca, its unripe fruit extract was found to show a better activity than ripe and overripe fruit extracts.
Originality/value
Banana, being an all season readily available fruit, is widely consumed due to its ready availability and low cost. It acts as a complete food for even low socio-economic classes of society, owing to its rich nutritional values. Even in a processed and unprocessed manner, it is an important constituent of diet. The research suggests that instead of consuming ripe and overripe fruit, the unripe fruit will help in management of diabetes.
