Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to test if and how interactive thematic maps can encourage the formation of tourists' perceptual maps of attractions in a destination.
Design/methodology/approach
Data were derived from 365 online trip planners generated by users of the Amish Country web site from 1 August 2007 to 31 July 2008. Given the nature of the data set, network analysis techniques were used to analyze the data.
Findings
Network analysis findings demonstrate that the things to do (TTD) included in the interactive Heritage Trail map were more frequently bundled together in the saved trip plans than TTDs included in other sections of the web site. Further analysis suggests that some additional non‐Heritage TTDs could be included in the Heritage Trail map due to their perceptual proximity.
Practical implications
The findings provide evidence that interactive maps on web sites can play an important role in tourists' planning behavior, which has significant implications for online tourism marketing. The findings also provide insights as to how online behavioral data can be used to derive marketing intelligence.
Originality/value
This study contributes to the theoretical development of the role of interactive maps in travel planning and also illustrates the usefulness of network analysis for investigating tourism‐related issues.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to empirical tests an integrated framework of third-party travel apps usage antecedents (system quality, information quality, service quality and user engagement) and its consequences (satisfaction, apps love and behavioral intentions).
Design/methodology/approach
A quantitative research design was used, purposively interviewing 551 users of predetermined third-party travel apps. The data was analyzed using partial least squares-structural equation modeling.
Findings
The study found that system quality did not significantly impact user engagement, suggesting that users may prioritize content and service over technical features. Both information quality and service quality were positively linked to user engagement, confirming that users are more engaged when app content is relevant and service is adequate. Additionally, higher user engagement led to greater app satisfaction and love, positively influencing users’ behavioral intentions, such as continued use and recommendations.
Practical implications
The results highlight the importance of content and service quality over system features in driving user engagement with smartphone apps. This suggests developers should focus on delivering high-quality information and excellent service to foster user satisfaction and emotional attachment to the app.
Originality/value
The study suggests a shift in focus from technical features to content relevance and service effectiveness, highlighting that users may prioritize these aspects over technical aspects when engaging with an app. This could challenge conventional assumptions about the importance of system quality in user engagement.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to review recent conceptualizations and theories of organizational citizenship behaviour (OCB) and its role in the energy transition from Malaysia’s perspective. It examines how factors of OCB, such as individual values, attitudes, motivations, leadership style, organizational culture and policies, affect the energy transition process. The research findings have implications for future studies on energy transition, highlighting the role of OCB in shaping the country’s strategies, addressing challenges and contributing to the transition process.
Design/methodology/approach
This study conducts a narrative review of past literature and documents OCB in the context of energy transition; factors influencing OCB (individual, organizational and external factors); OCB in the context of energy transition; and insights into energy transition in Malaysian organizations.
Findings
This study finds support in the literature for the impact of OCB on energy transition efforts from the Malaysian perspective. OCB, which extends beyond formal role expectations, can significantly support the effective implementation of energy policies and contribute to organizational objectives. By encouraging OCB within organizations, Malaysia can facilitate the adoption of renewable energy and energy efficiency practices, thereby playing a crucial role in reducing dependence on fossil fuels and advancing the energy transition, instilling hope for a more sustainable future.
Originality/value
This study encourages future research to explore the relationship between discussed variables and their impact on OCB, which is crucial for organizational policies aimed at advancing the energy transition in Malaysia. These findings contribute to the growing body of knowledge on OCB within the context of energy transition and provide a foundation for further related research.
