Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to examine how higher education can mold pro-environmental actions among students with educational social-marketing leads; it probes into the direct influence of four value orientations toward pro-environmental beliefs, norms and behaviors.
Design/methodology/approach
This quantitative research sought deductive reasoning. Data gathering took place in January 2023, following a cross-sectional framework. The researcher visited various private universities in Egypt, which used effort to change the practices among students toward sustainable developments, distributing digitally administrated questionnaires to students on campus. Through convenience nonprobability sampling, 581 questionnaires were collected and statistically analyzed, using SPSS.
Findings
This study shows that altruistic and biospheric value impact students’ personal beliefs toward pro-environmental behaviors; students’ personal beliefs significantly impact the norms that are present on campus; the norms found on campus impact significantly students to behave as green passengers, recyclers and utility-savers.
Practical implications
Higher education institutions play a significant role in promoting the manifestations of rationality and objectivity among students about environmental challenges and sustainable development. Eco-friendly behaviors are rooted in values; thus, understanding the initial values among students is critical in developing coping strategies and social marketing initiatives that inspire the needed conservational behaviors.
Originality/value
By aligning the value-belief-norm theory with two disciplines (higher education on sustainability and social marketing), this study builds upon the theory, identifying the underlying value-structures that inspire students’ necessary environmental and sustainable behaviors to improve societies for future generation rightness. This study provides more nuanced insights into a better educational intervention for shaping students’ manners toward environmentalism to improve communities worldwide.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to explore the impact of women empowerment and gender-stereotypical advertising exposure on consumers’ attitudes and purchase intents.
Design/methodology/approach
The quantitative research approach was used to assess the women-empowerment and gender-stereotypical advertising on consumers’ attitudes and purchase intentions, explicating the most effective approach in marketing communication in the Arab context, specifically Egypt. Administrated questionnaires were distributed online cross-gender through the use of convenience sampling. The targeted average sample size sought was minimum of 370. Once the data was acquired, partial least square path modelling of structural equation modelling was conducted to test the hypotheses.
Findings
Results show that male consumers and female consumers react to a certain extent differently to women-empowerment and gender-stereotypical advertisings. For instance, gender-stereotypical advertisings effect attitude for both genders; it effects male consumers’ purchase intentions, but not female consumers. Women empowerment advertising is insignificant on brand attitude and purchase intention among male consumers; among female consumers, it has significant impact on brand attitude, but not purchase intention. Nevertheless, both categories of advertising contribute to male consumers’ and female consumers’ perception and attitude towards gender role portrayal.
Originality/value
This study provides noteworthy insights and perspectives on women-empowerment (Femvertising) and gender-stereotypical advertising effects on cross-gender consumers in the Arab region (a region of strong masculine culture values). The emerged conclusions aid as a reference and guide for scholars and practitioners to develop effective advertising that create prospect depictions and build inspired female customer base.

Purpose
This study examines higher education students' technology readiness level in explaining adoption intention toward educational Internet of Things (IoT) needed for online learning.
Design/methodology/approach
Quantitative deductive research approach is used to check the theory of technology readiness index toward IoT in education. An online administrated questionnaire is distributed through convenience sampling to reach generation(Z) students. The questionnaire is developed using Google form, placing the link on various universities' social media platforms so to be accessible to the respondents. Path coefficient analysis of SEM is used to test the hypotheses.
Findings
Results show that the individual's level of technological optimism, discomfort and insecurity impact adoption intentions toward IoT products and services for online learning; the mental motivator, innovativeness, is insignificant.
Practical implications
This study helps guide practitioners (education institutions, IoT-developers, marketers and other professionals in the field) to consider students' mindset when designing products and strategies for promoting online learning and introducing educational IoT. This research provides insights on IoT in higher education; it provides perspectives for IoT adoption intention pro-online learning, aiding institutions looking for trends and practices for skills and work-based learning developments.
Originality/value
This study contributes to knowledge and literature by shedding light on the educational challenge of why not all students could harness the potentials of online learning and IoT of the twenty-first century. It provides insights to clarify students' mindset toward educational IoT needed for online learning.

Abstract
Purpose
This study investigates the impact of universities' social marketing initiatives on students’ development of personal (altruistic, biospheric and egoistic) and social values, leading to their pro-environmental behaviors.
Design/methodology/approach
This study applies quantitative deductive research. This study examined the value-belief-norms (VBN) theory, adding social values to the framework. This study took place in Egypt from January 2023 to March 2023. The population of focus was college students (whether at public or private universities). Students were requested to fill out the questionnaire by scanning a quick-response (QR) code, which linked to a Google Form. After data collection, 410 questionnaires were analyzed using statistical package for social science.
Findings
This study developed empirical evidence that clarifies that social marketing initiatives done by universities have the power to develop students’ personal and social values. Values trigger behavior change. Social values lead to students’ pro-environmental behaviors; personal egoistic values lead to students’ pro-environmental behaviors; personal biospheric values lead to students’ pro-environmental behaviors and personal altruistic values does not lead to students’ pro-environmental behaviors.
Originality/value
This study offers firsthand insight in understanding how social marketing is an effective tool to develop students’ values that are needed to inspire the right behaviors to preserve and protect the environment. This study builds upon the VBN theory, explaining the significant underlying environmental values that should be developed through universities’ non-academic initiatives (such as marketing activities) to inform behaviors needed to better the community, such as pro-environmental behaviors.

Abstract
Purpose
This study identifies key facets leading to consumers' Internet of Things (IoT) adoption intention.
Design/methodology/approach
Applying four technology acceptance theories (theory of planned behavior, technology acceptance model, pleasure-arousal-dominance theory and technology readiness index), the author uses deductive quantitative research to develop a model, explaining IoT adoption intentions. Administrated questionnaires are distributed in Egypt among generation-Z and millennials in malls. A total of 400 questionnaires are used for hypotheses testing, applying structural equation modeling (SEM) path coefficient analysis.
Findings
Results of this study show that attitude, dominance, perceived usefulness, innovativeness and insecurity impact consumers' IoT adoption intentions; subjective norms, perceived behavior control, pleasure, arousal, perceived ease, optimism and discomfort hold insignificant impact on consumers' IoT adoption intentions.
Research limitations/implications
Exploring IoT facets and how these facets impact consumers' adoption intentions, this study helps grasp technology acceptance in theory and practice, guiding scholar and practitioners (e.g. IoT developers, retailers, marketers and other field experts) to consider consumers' mindset when developing, improving and marketing IoT.
Originality/value
The contribution stems from the incorporation of various frameworks used to explain technology acceptance. By studying several theories jointly, the research extracts and identifies a significant set of facets (technical and psychological) to build a comprehensive theory of IoT acceptance, showing consumers' IoT adoption is not entirely similar to adoption of other past innovations. This understanding allows marketers to focus on content that needs to be promoted to boost consumers' IoT purchase plans. Future researchers could replicate the results to IoT categories (e.g. home appliances, cars, healthcare, education, sportswear, etc.) to improve external validity of the findings, among other future research opportunities.

Purpose
This study investigates the main factors that lead to students’ satisfaction toward executive education blended learning.
Design/methodology/approach
Merging five theories (consumer satisfaction theory, self-determination theory, investment model, happy-productive student theory and service quality model), the author used quantitative research to develop a model, explaining executive education satisfaction taught in a blended learning approach. Administrated questionnaires were physically distributed in various business universities that offer education to mid-career executives in Egypt. Two hundred and seventy questionnaires were examined through structural equation modeling path coefficient analysis.
Findings
Results show that satisfaction with executive education in traditional classroom boundaries are due to three internal factors (personal/psychological): self-regulated learning, perceived future financial rewards and perceived ease of course; and two external factors: quality of instructor and course design. When courses are given online, satisfaction is developed due to two internal factors (personal/psychological): self-regulated learning and perceived future financial reward; and one external factor, course design.
Practical implications
Marketization signifies students as consumers of universities; student’s satisfaction is increasingly important for educational entities to attract and retain students. Thus, this study develops a coherent student’s satisfaction model to better manage and market executive education, leading to students’ contentment in theory and practice.
Originality/value
Student’s satisfaction has multiple facets that are stochastic as education evolves and develops. The contribution stems from the incorporation of various theories to explain student’s satisfaction of executive education taught in a blended approach: traditional classroom boundaries and digital platforms that offer access to online education. The research extracts significant set of reasons, showing executive education satisfaction is not entirely similar to other education programs; and satisfaction toward blended learning in executive education is not entirely similar to education offered solely online or physically.

Design/methodology/approach
This research used deductive quantitative research approach. Data were gathered during a sports event in Egypt made to support female empowerment; a local sports organization hosted 8K Women Race on February 26, 2022, applying a cross-sectional timeframe. The researcher approached both male and female segments with an administrated questionnaire to fill out through convenience sampling. Structural equation modeling path coefficient analysis was used to test the hypotheses.
Findings
The research shows femvertising perceived congruence is insignificant cross-gender; femvertising perceived authenticity is significant to female segment, not the male segment; femvertising impacts female portrayal among male segment and female segment.
Practical implications
The conclusions could be reference for stakeholders who have interest in women empowerment marketing strategies as brand activism; companies that look toward femvertising as effective tactic to enhance affirmative attitude and build an empowered female customer base. The results indicate that marketers can benefit from adapting a more mindful approach to the portrayal of females used in advertising.
Originality/value
The addition of a cross-gender perspective on femvertising (as brand activism) is a key contribution to this literature. This study adds knowledge on the how perceived congruence and authenticity of the advertising can impact significantly attitude toward women empowerment; when brands promote social matters, their underpinning motives are under microscope among consumers, and adverse attributions can hinder brand performance as consumers may not believe the brands when they engage in the activism.

This study investigates the impact of augmented reality (AR) on consumers’ shopping process, focusing on value creation, brand engagement and purchasing intents.
Design/methodology/approach
This quantitative deductive study analyzed 393 questionnaires through non-probability sampling. A cross-sectional timeframe was applied; data collection took place in May 2023 to provide a snapshot of Egyptian consumers’ responses to AR. Once the needed data were collected, statistical analyses were conducted through the statistical package for social science (SPSS).
Findings
This study shows that in the shopping process, AR vividness, interactivity and informativeness lead consumers to develop utilitarian values toward the technology, and AR interactivity generates hedonic values towards the technology. When consumers sense the hedonic and utilitarian values, it impacts consumers purchase intention. Hedonic value in AR leads to consumers’ brand content consumption and creation; utilitarian value in AR leads to consumers’ brand content consumption, contribution and creation.
Practical implications
AR developers, brand managers and marketers may use this study to understand the current AR landscape and consumer responses toward AR (value development, purchase intention and brand engagement). With these insights, they can make better strategic decisions that include AR usage in brand marketing tactics.
Originality/value
This study develops conclusions to grasp more clearly and in-depth why and how AR impacts consumers’ shopping process. This study addresses various literature gaps, enhancing the understanding of AR: the salient AR attributes that offer consumers hedonic and utilitarian values and how AR influences consumer behavior, specifically when it comes to the development of brand engagement and purchase intents.

Purpose
In view of the promising growth of FinTech in the Arab region, specifically in Egypt, this study identifies the significant factors likely to influence consumers’ acceptance intention toward e-payment products and services (mobile wallets, virtual-cards, mobile/online banking etc.).
Design/methodology/approach
Quantitative deductive research was used to investigate the extension of the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) on consumers' e-payment acceptance intentions. Questionnaires were electronically administered through convenience sampling. Three hundred and ninety-nine questionnaires were analyzed through multiple regression to test the proposed hypotheses.
Findings
Performance expectance, facilitating condition, effort expectancy and social influence impact consumers' e-payment acceptance intentions. These factors contribute to the growing number of individuals using e-payments to the extent that e-payment eventually becomes a preferred medium for economic transactions. Hedonic motivation, price value and habit are insignificant in encouraging consumers' e-payment acceptance.
Practical implications
The study benefits to governments, policymakers, banking institutions, businesses involved in online transactions and software developers. They can utilize the findings to develop strategies aimed at increasing e-payment usage and overcoming cultural-resistance to changing traditional financial transaction methods. These methods align with the government’s goal of achieving a digital society.
Originality/value
This study presents information on the current state of e-payment acceptance. Its potential contribution lies in identifying the factors that influence the intention to e-payment among Arab consumers, thereby highlighting important considerations for the adoption of e-payment. Furthermore, this study supports UTAUT over UTAUT2 in the FinTech context. It suggests that individuals exhibit similar behavior and inspiration when using e-payment technology as they do when using technology in an organizational context.

This study collected and analyzed numerical data to test the causal relationships found among the research model variables. Administrated questionnaires were distributed March 2023 in cross-sectional timeframe in several visits to hypermarkets, supermarkets and grocery stores in Cairo and Alexandria, applying nonprobability sample. Structure equation model path analysis was used to test the hypotheses.
Findings
This study shows compulsive buying, sense of anxiety, value shopping, attitude toward private label, attractiveness of local brands and materialistic behaviors impact consumers' acceptance of alternative brands; compulsive buying, sense of anxiety and materialistic behaviors impact the continuance of purchasing accustomed brands.
Practical implications
Retailers, government and policymakers can use this study as a guide to know how consumers react during times of high prices so to provide solutions to their needs. Policymakers should take into account the findings in managing the economy.
Originality/value
This study shows the effect of inflation on consumer spending to contribute to the body of knowledge in literature on the factors that influence consumer behaviors. A model was developed to frame the possible manners that might surface among consumers during times of high inflation; it reflected whether compulsive buying, sense of anxiety, value shopping, attitude toward private label, attractiveness of local brands and materialistic behaviors impact consumers acceptance of alternative brands and/or the continuance of purchasing accustomed brand.
