Abstract

Purpose

Due to the lack of awareness and poor cybersecurity practices that pose cyber threats during COVID-19 time, this research aims to explore user's attitude toward engaging in proactive cybersecurity awareness behavior.

Design/methodology/approach

Based on the theory of planned behavior, the relationship between multiple factors and their influence on the attitude is explored. A survey-based approach was utilized to collect responses and a model was proposed and tested on 229 respondents from the University of Petra-Jordan.

Findings

The attitude was significantly influenced by peers' influence and the individuals' cybersecurity threats awareness, especially threats that emerged during the COVID-19 time.

Research limitations/implications

The research benefits decision makers in educational institutions who intend to develop cybersecurity awareness programs and helps them to assess user cybersecurity background weaknesses.

Originality/value

The research is the first to explore users' knowledge dimensions including organizational, information systems and social media as well as peers' influence on cybersecurity awareness. Also, it sheds light on the users’ perception of major cybersecurity hazards in COVID-19 time.

Abstract

Purpose

This study aims to investigate the determinants of cloud computing usage behavior by exploring trust, several trust antecedents, risk perceptions and the direct and mediating relationships of trust and perceived risk on the intention toward the behavior.

Design/methodology/approach

An online survey was administered to 1,228 cloud technology users. Using structural equation modeling, a proposed framework of 13 factors that have a direct and indirect influence on the usage behavior was introduced and tested.

Findings

It was observed that the intention toward the usage was influenced by trust and performance expectancy. Additionally, trust was affected by perceived accessibility and perceived technical support. The findings provided evidence on the diminished effect of perceived privacy and the insignificance of the mediating relationship of trust and perceived risk on the intention.

Research limitations/implications

The study provides multiple implications for researchers by highlighting the concept of trust in this context and enriching their understanding of the relationship between risk and trust.

Practical implications

The research provides valuable guidelines for service providers toward introducing major concerns and the importance of dependable technical support.

Originality/value

This study contributes to the cloud computing literature by exploring the effect of perceived technical support on the usage and examining the relationship between trust and risk.

Abstract

Purpose

This study aims to investigate the impact of Islamic fintech lending on the performance of microenterprises in Indonesia.

Design/methodology/approach

This study conducted a survey involving 400 microenterprises located in East Java, Indonesia. This investigation used a two-year panel data set and used the double differences-in-differences (DID) approach for rigorous analysis, including both standard DID and adjusted DID.

Findings

The findings demonstrate that microenterprises benefiting from Islamic fintech lending witnessed significant growth in their annual revenue, indicating a positive impact of Islamic fintech on their performance. In addition, these microenterprises showed an increase in the number of employees, suggesting improved business expansion and sustainability due to access to Islamic fintech lending services.

Research limitations/implications

This study’s limitations arise from its focus on a specific region and time frame. However, recognizing potential future developments enhances its relevance and applicability within Islamic finance literature.

Practical implications

This study offers valuable insights for microentrepreneurs, Islamic fintech platforms, policymakers and regulators, helping them make informed decisions and support the microenterprise sector in Indonesia.

Originality/value

This study brings new insights and adds value by examining the unique relationship between Islamic fintech lending and microenterprise performance, which can contribute to better understanding and decision-making in this field.
