Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to present a novel dynamic reliability model that considers the interval mixed uncertainty for the air-breathing hypersonic flight vehicle (AHFV) to guarantee flight safety and structural reliability.
Design/methodology/approach
Initially, the force condition of the fuselage is analyzed based on the longitudinal elastic model of an AHFV. Subsequently, a new high-efficiency dynamic reliability model is presented to describe the failure probability evolution of the fuselage structure. For the random uncertainty problem with interval distribution parameters, the interval PHI2 method of time-dependent reliability is used to obtain the time-dependent reliability interval of the AHFV. Finally, the key variables that affect the failure probability accumulation are determined, which provide an important reference for ensuring structural reliability and improving the life span of AHFVs.
Findings
It is demonstrated that the proposed reliability model can obtain more accurate dynamic reliability results for the fuselage, and it is confirmed the key variables that affect the failure probability accumulation. The results also provide an important reference for the reliability analysis of hypersonic vehicles.
Originality/value
The novelty of this work comes from the first application of the PHI2 method (considering the interval mixed uncertainty) in the AHFV and the development of a new reliability model for the entire body of AHFVs. The proposed analysis scheme is implemented on the dynamic model of the AHFV, which provides a more accurate reference for improving the structural reliability and life span of AHFVs.

Purpose
This paper takes the manufacturing cluster supply chain as the research object and explores the evaluation and enhancement strategy of manufacturing cluster supply chain synergy. The purpose of this study was to (1) analyze the mechanism of manufacturing cluster supply chain synergy; (2) construct manufacturing cluster supply chain synergy evaluation model; (3) algorithm realization of manufacturing cluster supply chain synergy evaluation and (4) propose manufacturing cluster-based supply chain synergy enhancement strategy.
Design/methodology/approach
Breaking through the limitations of traditional manufacturing cluster supply chain synergy evaluation, we take horizontal synergy and vertical synergy as coupled synergy subsystems, use the complex system synergy model to explore the horizontal synergy between core enterprises and cluster enterprises and the vertical synergy of supply chain enterprises and use the coupling coordination model to construct the coupled synergy evaluation model of manufacturing cluster supply chain, which is an innovation of the evaluation perspective of previous cluster supply chain synergy and also an enrichment and supplementation of the evaluation methodology. This is not only the innovation of the evaluation perspective but also the enrichment and supplementation of the evaluation method.
Findings
Using Python software to conduct empirical analysis on the evaluation model, the research shows that the horizontal and vertical synergies of the manufacturing cluster supply chain interact with each other and jointly affect the coupling synergy. On this basis, targeted strategies are proposed to enhance the synergy of the manufacturing cluster supply chain.
Research limitations/implications
This study takes manufacturers, suppliers and sellers in the three-level supply chain as the research object and does not consider the synergistic evaluation between distributors and consumers in the supply chain, which can be further explored in this direction in the future.
Practical implications
Advanced manufacturing clusters, as the main force of manufacturing development, and the synergistic development of supply chain are one of the important driving forces for the high-quality development of China’s manufacturing industry. As a new type of network organization coupling industrial clusters and supply chains, cluster supply chain is conducive not only to improving the competitiveness of cluster supply chains but also to upgrading cluster supply chains through horizontal synergy within the cluster and vertical synergy in the supply chain.
Social implications
Research can help accelerate the transformation and upgrading of clustered supply chains in the manufacturing industry, promote high-quality development of the manufacturing industry and accelerate the rise of the global value chain position of the manufacturing industry.
Originality/value
(1) Innovation of research perspective. Starting from two perspectives of horizontal synergy and vertical synergy, we take a core enterprise in the cluster supply chain as the starting point, horizontally explore the main enterprises of the cluster as the research object of horizontal synergy, vertically explore the upstream and downstream enterprises of the supply chain as the research object of vertical synergy and explore the coupling synergy of cluster supply chain as two subsystems, which provides new perspectives of evaluation of the degree of synergy and synergy evaluation. (2) Innovation of research content. Nine manufacturing clusters are selected as research samples, and through data collection and model analysis, it is verified that the evaluation model and implementation algorithm designed in this paper have strong practicability, which not only provides methodological reference for the evaluation of manufacturing cluster-type supply chain synergy but also reduces the loss caused by the instability of clusters and supply chains and then provides a theoretical basis for improving the overall performance of cluster-type supply chains.

Continuous and stable tracking of the low-altitude maneuvering targets is usually difficult due to terrain occlusion and Doppler blind zone (DBZ). This paper aims to present a non-myopic scheduling method of multiple radar sensors for tracking the low-altitude maneuvering targets. In this scheduling problem, the best sensors are systematically selected to observe targets for getting the best tracking accuracy under maintaining the low intercepted probability of a multi-sensor system.
Design/methodology/approach
First, the sensor scheduling process is formulated within the partially observable Markov decision process framework. Second, the interacting multiple model algorithm and the cubature Kalman filter algorithm are combined to estimate the target state, and the DBZ information is applied to estimate the target state when the measurement information is missing. Then, an approximate method based on a cubature sampling strategy is put forward to calculate the future expected objective of the multi-step scheduling process. Furthermore, an improved quantum particle swarm optimization (QPSO) algorithm is presented to solve the sensor scheduling action quickly. Findings
Compared with the traditional scheduling methods, the proposed method can maintain higher target tracking accuracy with a low intercepted probability. And the proposed target state estimation method in DBZ has better tracking performance.

In this paper, DBZ, sensor intercepted probability and complex terrain environment are considered in sensor scheduling, which has good practical application in a complex environment.

Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to establish a more reasonable evaluation system and model for the development level of rural tourism, and provides a method for quantifying the development level of regional rural tourism.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper provides a method for evaluating the development level of rural tourism, constructs an evaluation index system according to the connotation of rural tourism, then calculates the index weight by entropy method, and makes a comprehensive evaluation by grey relational analysis. Taking the development of rural tourism in 11 cities in Jiangxi Province as the research object, the ranking results of 11 cities were obtained by using grey relational analysis.
Findings
The overall development level of rural tourism in Jiangxi Province is positive, but the spatial distribution is uneven, showing the characteristics of “low-level aggregation and high-level dispersion”. The barrier model diagnoses that the degree of financial input is the biggest constraint to the development level of rural tourism in Jiangxi Province.
Originality/value
This study puts forward an evaluation model based on entropy weight and grey relational analysis, which is an important supplement to the grey relational analysis method system and has a positive role in promoting the quantitative evaluation of regional rural tourism level.

Purpose
Entrepreneurial activities significantly contribute to economic growth and job creation, making entrepreneurship an attractive career path. While students’ entrepreneurial intentions in traditional fields like economics, business and engineering have been widely studied, less attention has been given to nontraditional fields, especially in emerging economies. This study aims to address this gap by exploring the entrepreneurial intentions of health sciences students in Colombian universities, a context marked by unique socioeconomic and cultural factors.
Design/methodology/approach
The study surveyed 202 students across three colleges. Confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling were used to validate the theorized relationships and analyze the data.
Findings
Preliminary findings indicate a positive correlation between personal attitudes and educational support with entrepreneurial intentions among health science students. Contrary to expectations, the influence of family roles and broader sociocultural contexts appeared less significant, suggesting a distinct pattern within this field.
Originality/value
This paper presents a detailed study of the factors influencing the entrepreneurial intention of health sciences students in higher education. It provides theoretical and practical insights, contributing to the existing literature on entrepreneurial intention. The findings can be used by institutions to develop targeted training programs tailored to students’ specific needs.

This paper aims to investigate the relationship between entrepreneurial motivation and pharmapreneurial intention among pharmacists in Jordan.The authors also assessed the moderating effect of gender and the COVID-19 pandemic on the relationship between these two variables.
Design/methodology/approach
This study is a quantitative study targeting pharmacists and using a nonprobability sample. A structured questionnaire was distributed through official channels to the entire population of registered pharmacists in Jordan. SmartPLS 3 was used for carrying an advanced structural equation model analysis, and SPSS 26 for the descriptive statistics.
Findings
The three entrepreneurial motivation variables (behavioral control [BC], risk tolerance and desirability of self-employment) affected pharmapreneurial intention, with BC contributing more to pharmapreneurial intention among pharmacists in Jordan than the other variables examined. On the other hand, gender and COVID-19 did not moderate this relationship.
Research limitations/implications
The authors find that entrepreneurial motivation affects pharmapreneurial intention. Consequently, the authors provide insights to policymakers and educators regarding dovetailing the recent financial literacy programs implemented in Jordanian schools with medical education in Jordan to better motivate the formation of pharmapreneurial intention.

In computational chemistry, the chemical bond energy (pKa) is essential, but most pKa-related data are submerged in scientific papers, with only a few data that have been extracted by domain experts manually. The loss of scientific data does not contribute to in-depth and innovative scientific data analysis. To address this problem, this study aims to utilize natural language processing methods to extract pKa-related scientific data in chemical papers.
Design/methodology/approach
Based on the previous Bert-CRF model combined with dictionaries and rules to resolve the problem of a large number of unknown words of professional vocabulary, in this paper, the authors proposed an end-to-end Bert-CRF model with inputting constructed domain wordpiece tokens using text mining methods. The authors use standard high-frequency string extraction techniques to construct domain wordpiece tokens for specific domains. And in the subsequent deep learning work, domain features are added to the input.
Findings
The experiments show that the end-to-end Bert-CRF model could have a relatively good result and can be easily transferred to other domains because it reduces the requirements for experts by using automatic high-frequency wordpiece tokens extraction techniques to construct the domain wordpiece tokenization rules and then input domain features to the Bert model.
Originality/value
By decomposing lots of unknown words with domain feature-based wordpiece tokens, the authors manage to resolve the problem of a large amount of professional vocabulary and achieve a relatively ideal extraction result compared to the baseline model. The end-to-end model explores low-cost migration for entity and relation extraction in professional fields, reducing the requirements for experts.

Innovation capabilities, changes in customer expectations and continuous supply chain (SC) network disruptions bring complexity and challenges to manufacturing firms (MFs). This study examines the influence of uncertainty, supplier innovation, cost reduction and integration of third-party logistics (3PLs) and fourth-party logistics (4PLs) on logistics outsourcing adoption.
Design/methodology/approach
Based on data collected from 180 managers in MFs in Jordan, our proposed research model was tested using partial least squares-SEM (PLS-SEM).
Findings
The findings suggest that supplier innovation and integration with 3PLs and 4PLs are key enablers of adopting logistics outsourcing in the manufacturing sector. Further, the findings indicate no significant impact of uncertainty and cost reduction as logistics outsourcing enablers. The results also suggest that integration with 3PLs and 4PLs mediate fully and positively the path between supplier innovation and logistics outsourcing adoption.
Originality/value
This study contributes to the manufacturing literature by providing a better understanding of the main enablers of logistics outsourcing in the manufacturing sector, simultaneously tackling dependence and enhancing adoption performance in the innovation and disruptions SC era. Further, it expands the understanding of the integration between SC partners in these twofold roles.

Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to present a wall-climbing robot platform for heavy-load with negative pressure adsorption, which could be equipped with a six-degree of freedom (DOF) collaborative robot (Cobot) and detection device for inspecting the overwater part of concrete bridge towers/piers for large bridges.
Design/methodology/approach
By analyzing the shortcomings of existing wall-climbing robots in detecting concrete structures, a wall-climbing mobile manipulator (WCMM), which could be compatible with various detection devices, is proposed for detecting the concrete towers/piers of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. The factors affecting the load capacity are obtained by analyzing the antislip and antioverturning conditions of the wall-climbing robot platform on the wall surface. Design strategies for each part of the structure of the wall-climbing robot are provided based on the influencing factors. By deriving the equivalent adsorption force equation, analyzed the influencing factors of equivalent adsorption force and provided schemes that could enhance the load capacity of the wall-climbing robot.
Findings
The adsorption test verifies the maximum negative pressure that the fan module could provide to the adsorption chamber. The load capacity test verifies it is feasible to achieve the expected bearing requirements of the wall-climbing robot. The motion tests prove that the developed climbing robot vehicle could move freely on the surface of the concrete structure after being equipped with a six-DOF Cobot.
Practical implications
The development of the heavy-load wall-climbing robot enables the Cobot to be installed and equipped on the wall-climbing robot, forming the WCMM, making them compatible with carrying various devices and expanding the application of the wall-climbing robot.
Originality/value
A heavy-load wall-climbing robot using negative pressure adsorption has been developed. The wall-climbing robot platform could carry a six-DOF Cobot, making it compatible with various detection devices for the inspection of concrete structures of large bridges. The WCMM could be expanded to detect the concretes with similar structures. The research and development process of the heavy-load wall-climbing robot could inspire the design of other negative-pressure wall-climbing robots.

To show that Chinese consumers are constantly redefining and revaluing goods along the axes of the real and the false, with little regard for legal definitions of brand authenticity or “fakeness.”
Methodology/approach
The data was collected through interviews, focus groups, observations, and casual conversations over 16 months of ethnographic research in Beijing, China.
Findings
In their everyday consumption practices and navigation of a complex and often dangerous marketplace, Chinese consumers categorize products based on their perceived “truth.” The paper introduces a typology that describes these local categories and explains their utility for consumers.
Research limitations/implications
The data was primarily conducted in an urban capital with a highly educated and high-average-income populace, thus it does not represent all Chinese consumers or a statistical sample.
Practical/social implications
This paper explains how the same globalizing processes that helped brands establish themselves in the Chinese market now threaten the capability of all brands to gain and retain the trust of consumers
Originality/value
By explaining how new calculations of value are being produced under glocalized regimes of manufacture and distribution, this research makes an important contribution to our understandings of brands and their limits.
