Abstract
Purpose
When confronted by high-stakes challenges that require a change of course leaders need fast, high-quality decisions and genuine team alignment on the path forward. To address this problem, we offer an experience-tested framework for confronting defining moments of high complexity, low clarity and weak alignment.
Design/methodology/approach
The framework is based on four key principles: a unifying goal, a requisite variety of people, a group-wide communication network that connects everyone on the team, repeated, high-quality collision.
Findings
Collisions among knowledgeable team members are what produce a solution and buy-in. They are what surfaces relevant understanding about how potential actions are connected.
Practical implications
For effective teams, identify those directly affected by the challenge, those with relevant experiences or specialist know-how and those who will ultimately own and execute solutions.
Originality/value
This step-by-step process guide will be useful to leaders needing to course correct while trying to digitize, merge, turn around, grow, deliver a leading-edge customer experience or during a myriad of other complex pursuits. The high-stakes nature of these challenges becomes apparent when leaders realize that their team’s current course and speed is not going to deliver the needed results and intended impact soon enough or, worse, not at all.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to report the findings of a study that used measurements of shaft relative rotational position, made using inexpensive Hall Effect sensors and magnets mounted at the ends of a gearbox input and output shafts, to determine gear “transmission variance.” The transmission variance signals, as a function of gear/shaft rotational position, were then used to detect and diagnose gear faults.
Design/methodology/approach
Two sets of spur gears (one plastic and one steel) were used to experimentally determine the relative shaft rotational position between the input and the output gearbox shafts. Fault-free and faulted (damaged tooth faces and cracked tooth bases) gears were used to collect representative dynamic signals. Signal processing was used to extract transmission variance values as a function of shaft rotational position and then used to detect and diagnose gear faults.
Findings
The results show that variations in the relative rotational position of the output shaft relative to that of the input shaft (the transmission variance) can be used to reveal gear mesh characteristics, including faults, such as cracked or missing gear teeth and flattened gear tooth faces, in both plastic gears and steel gears under appropriate (realistic) loads and speeds.
Research limitations/implications
The operational mode of the non-contact rotational position sensors and the dynamic accuracy limitations are explained along with the basic signal processing required to extract transmission variance values.
Practical implications
The results show that shaft rotational position measurements can be made accurately and precisely using relatively inexpensive sensors and can subsequently reveal gear faults.
Social implications
The inexpensive and yet trustworthy fault detection methodology developed in this work should help to improve the efficiency of maintenance actions on gearboxes and, therefore, improve the overall industrial efficiency of society.
Originality/value
The method described has distinct advantages over traditional analysis methods based on gearbox vibration and/or oil analysis.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to systematically examine and classify the multitude of personality traits that have emerged in the literature beyond the Big Five (Five Factor Model) since the turn of the 21st century. The authors argue that this represents a new phase of personality research that is characterized both by construct proliferation and a movement away from the Big Five and demonstrates how personality as a construct has substantially evolved in the 21st century.
Design/methodology/approach
The authors conducted a comprehensive, systematic review of personality research from 2000 to 2020 across 17 management and psychology journals. This search yielded 1,901 articles, of which 440 were relevant and subsequently coded for this review.
Findings
The review presented in this study uncovers 155 traits, beyond the Big Five, that have been explored, which the authors organize and analyze into 10 distinct categories. Each category comprises a definition, lists the included traits and highlights an exemplar construct. The authors also specify the significant research outcomes associated with each trait category.
Originality/value
This review categorizes the 155 personality traits that have emerged in the management and psychology literature that describe personality beyond the Big Five. Based on these findings, this study proposes new avenues for future research and offers insights into the future of the field as the concept of personality has shifted in the 21st century.

Findings
Franklin declared himself to embrace physiocratic principles and ideals but was not able to advance these ideals at home.
Research limitations/implications
Further details are undoubtedly available from sources not translated from French into English.
Practical implications
The course of history would have been significantly different had the physiocratic ideals become the basis for law and public policies.
Originality/value
The paper offers further evidence of the influence of the physiocratic school on Franklin, as one of the leading practical philosophers of his age.

Findings
The insights contained within Security Analysis can and should be leveraged by business leaders and strategists to create value for their firms.
Practical implications
Graham and Dodd‐based valuation and investment is a viable method with which to assess corporate strategic initiatives (such as mergers and acquisitions, share buy‐backs, etc.).

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to examine the relationship between environmental commitment and environmental sustainability practices of manufacturing small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Uganda.
Design/methodology/approach
This study employed a cross-sectional and correlational design using evidence from 106 manufacturing SMEs in Uganda. Data was analyzed through Statistical Package for Social Sciences Version 23.
Findings
Results show that environmental commitment is a significant predictor of environmental sustainability practices and its dimensions which comprise of eco-friendly packaging, energy efficiency, waste management and water conservation of the manufacturing SMEs in Uganda.
Originality/value
This study offers initial evidence on the association between environmental commitment and environmental sustainability practices using evidence from a developing country’s perspective. The results also provide new insights on the relationship between environmental commitment and the dimensions of environmental sustainability practices which comprise of eco-friendly packaging, energy efficiency, waste management and water conservation.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to examine the applicability of stock selection criteria of Benjamin Graham in Indian capital market to determine which rules specifically can help the investors to augment their return on investment.
Design/methodology/approach
The independent sample t-test has been employed to examine the stock return differences among the companies which fulfill maximum number of the criteria and the companies fulfilling minimal number. The significance of the excess returns yielded by the criteria is assessed through one sample t-statistics. Further, the applicability of each and every criterion is examined using pooled OLS regression analysis.
Findings
The mean market adjusted returns of the companies which fulfill maximum number of the criteria are significantly different from the companies which fulfill minimal number. The companies those are able to fulfill at least any five criteria, yield excess returns to the investors. However, regression analysis makes it evident that all the criteria are not applicable in present economic environment.
Research limitations/implications
The study recommends that an investor should give due importance to variables mainly high earnings yield, discount to tangible book value and net current asset value, lower leverage and stability in earnings in order to screen value maximizing securities.
Originality/value
This paper extends discussion on application of Graham's stock selection criteria in Indian stock market. The study also enriches the literature on value investing strategies by extending discussion on reasons for the applicability/inapplicability of the Graham's stock selection criteria.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this research is to address the importance of human resource development (HRD) and its resultant climate in an organization. Specifically, the study examines the cause-effect relationship between HRD climate and organisational citizenship behaviour (OCB), as well as the role of organisational trust in this relationship. The study is underpinned by the social exchange theory.
Design/methodology/approach
The study adopted the quantitative research approach and the cross-sectional survey design in data collection. Two hundred seventy-four employees were sampled from the food manufacturing sector, out of which 219 responded. Data was entered using SPSS v.23 and analysed with Pearson’s Product correlation, hierarchical regression analysis and independent t-test. The mediation effect was analysed using Process Macro v 3.5 for SPSS.
Findings
Results indicate that HRD climate has a positive effect on OCB, hence, a predictor. Also, HRD climate was observed to be a predictor of organisational trust and that organisational trust mediates the cause and effect relationship between HRD climate and OCB. This study recommends that management continues to invest in the development of employees as it goes a long way to ensure the survival and growth of the organisation.
Originality/value
To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is the first of its kind to examine the interplay between HRD climate, trust and OCBs.
