Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to present an image-based visual servoing algorithm for a multiple pin-in-hole assembly. This paper also aims to avoid the matching and tracking of image features and the remaining robust against image defects.
Design/methodology/approach
The authors derive a novel model in the set space and design three image errors to control the 3 degrees of freedom (DOF) of a single-lug workpiece in the alignment task. Analytic computations of the interaction matrix that link the time variations of the image errors to the single-lug workpiece motions are performed. The authors introduce two approximate hypotheses so that the interaction matrix has a decoupled form, and an auto-adaptive algorithm is designed to estimate the interaction matrix.
Findings
Image-based visual servoing in the set space avoids the matching and tracking of image features, and these methods are not sensitive to image effects. The control law using the auto-adaptive algorithm is more efficient than that using a static interaction matrix. Simulations and real-world experiments are performed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
Originality/value
This paper proposes a new visual servoing method to achieve pin-in-hole assembly tasks. The main advantage of this new approach is that it does not require tracking or matching of the image features, and its supplementary advantage is that it is not sensitive to image defects.

Abstract
Purpose
Drawing upon an integrative perspective from intellectual capital theory with upper echelon theory, we examined how intellectual capital affects resource integration capability and subsequent strategic decision-making under weak versus strong top management team (TMT) involvement behavior. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between intellectual capital and strategic decision-making and the mediated moderating effect between intellectual capital and decision-making on small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Design/methodology/approach
Using statistical empirical analysis, we tested our research hypotheses via large-scale survey data from 323 SMEs. A regression analysis was applied to intellectual capital, resource integration capability and TMT involvement behavior to estimate their influence on strategic decision-making.
Findings
Our findings suggest that the positive effect of intellectual capital on strategic decision-making via resource integration capability is conditional on TMT involvement behavior, underscoring the role of resource integration capability and TMT involvement behavior in intellectual capital. The results also indicate that intellectual capital and resource integration capability strengthen positive decision-making relationships. Furthermore, TMT involvement behavior strengthens the positive interaction effect of intellectual capital with resource integration capability.
Practical implications
Intellectual capital is a critical and preeminent strategic resource for strengthening strategic decision-making, especially for SMEs. Notably, trends related to intellectual capital can be used to explore the management of SMEs and the corresponding contributions to and improvements in strategic decision-making. Specifically, intellectual capital can be used by SME management teams to formulate and implement relevant strategic decisions and enhance the effectiveness of decision-making, which are critical steps for success in decision-making processes.
Originality/value
This research explored the relationships among intellectual capital, resource integration capability, TMT involvement behavior and strategic decision-making in a comprehensive mediated moderation model; it is the first known study to highlight that intellectual capital can enhance strategic decision-making and provide managerial implications regarding how to align resource integration capability and TMT involvement behavior while performing strategic decision-making.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the relative impacts of full-scale land reallocation (FLR) and partial-scale land reallocation (PLR) on household land rental behavior in rural China.
Design/methodology/approach
Probit model, Tobit model and Semi-parametric model are used to provide empirical evidences.
Findings
Drawing upon an unique farm survey in 2003, the authors find that in rural China, FLR is more likely to follow egalitarian rule and PLR takes productivity of households into consideration. Econometric analysis provides two main findings. First, FLR has positive effect on household land rental behavior, possibly because egalitarian FLR creates a mismatch between household agricultural ability and land size and after FLR households have to participate in land rental market to adjust the mismatch. Second, PLR has negative effect on household land rental behavior which supports that land reallocation and land rental market are substitutes (Brandt et al., 2004).
Originality/value
The main contribution of this study is to show that FLR and PLR in rural China are motivated by two different rationales (i.e. FLR by egalitarian concerns and PLR by efficiency concerns).

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the fracture properties of hybrid woven bamboo (WB)/woven e-glass (EG) fiber composites with various layer arrangements. This paper utilized a specific type of bamboo species named Gigantochloa Scortechinii (Buluh Semantan).
Design/methodology/approach
In these experiments, unsaturated polyester, woven EG and WB fibers were prepared through the hand lay-up technique. The composite bamboo strips were prepared in 1.5 mm thickness. The strips are woven to make a single layer. The layer was then laminated into several thicknesses. The specimens were then characterized using compact tension fracture tests.
Findings
The fracture toughness of 12–14 MPa was obtained. These findings suggest that this hybrid bamboo composite provides superior fracture strength that is equivalent with steel alloy and is extremely a good alternative for reinforcing fibers to combat fracture failures of materials and structures.
Originality/value
In this paper, experimental determination of newly developed composite made of WB and woven EG is presented.
