Abstract
Purpose
Periodic inspection of bridge cables is essential, and cable-climbing robots can replace human workers to perform risky tasks and improve inspection efficiency. However, cable inspection robots often fail to surmount large obstacles and cable clamps. The purpose of this paper is to develop a practical cable inspection robot with stronger obstacle-surmounting performance and circumferential rotation capability.
Design/methodology/approa/ch
A cable inspection robot with novel elastic suspension mechanisms and circumferential rotation mechanisms is designed and proposed in this study. The supporting force and spring deformation of the elastic suspension are investigated and calculated. Dynamic analysis of obstacle surmounting and circumferential rotation is performed. Experiments are conducted on vertical and inclined cables to test the obstacle-surmounting performance and cable-clamp passing of the robot. The practicality of the robot is then verified in field tests.
Findings
With its elastic suspension mechanisms, the cable inspection robot can carry a 12.4 kg payload and stably climb a vertical cable. The maximum heights of obstacles surmounted by the driving wheels and the passive wheels of the robot are 15 mm and 13 mm, respectively. Equipped with circumferential rotation mechanisms, the robot can flexibly rotate and successfully pass cable clamps.
Originality/value
The novel elastic suspension mechanism and circumferential rotation mechanism improve the performance of the cable inspection robot and solve the problem of surmounting obstacles and cable clamps. Application of the robot can promote the automation of bridge cable inspection.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the organizational impacts of enterprise mobility and the configurations of mobile information technology (IT) impacts in companies with various value creation logics.
Design/methodology/approach
An exploratory approach combining semi-structured interview and repertory grid method was used to evaluate managers’ perspectives on the effects of mobile technologies.
Findings
The qualitative findings unearth managers’ perspectives about the organizational impacts of enterprise mobility, which are categorized into six intermediary dimensions and two fundamental impacts. A further analysis of material collected from interviews also shows the differential context-related configurations of mobile IT impacts in companies.
Research limitations/implications
This study contributes to literature on the business value of IT in general and mobile IT in particular by examining managers’ cognitive constructions of the organizational impacts of enterprise mobility and highlighting the complexity and context-related variety of mobile IT impacts.
Practical implications
This study provides valuable insights for managers and decision makers that enterprise mobility shows promise in enhancing a firm’s operational and marketing performance.
Originality/value
Different from prior literature, this study is an exploratory attempt to investigate complex enterprise-mobility-performance relationship and preliminarily uncovers that the mechanisms with which mobile IT influences firm performance vary in different organizational contexts.

Purpose
The purpose of this review is to systematically understand the development of enterprise social media (ESM) research, quantitatively analyze the landscape and track the development of ESM literature and reveal new trends and challenges in ESM research.
Design/methodology/approach
Based on 321 relevant literature studies (2005–2020) collected from the Web of Science core collection, the visualization tool CiteSpace is used to conduct bibliometric cocitation and cooccurrence analyses to quantify and visualize the landscape and evolution of ESM research.
Findings
Through analyzing the author cocitation network, document cocitation network, journal cocitation network and keywords cooccurrence network, this review proposes an integrated research framework, which highlights major purposes, antecedents and consequences of ESM use in organizations and presents future research trends of ESM research.
Originality/value
Different from the existing qualitative review of ESM, this review adopts bibliometric review to quantify and visualize the landscape of ESM research.
