Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the mediating role of innovative behavior on the relationships between organizational structure, such as centralization, formalization, integration, and organizational innovation performance.

Design/methodology/approach

The authors collected data from 140 functional managers of manufacturing organizations in the Republic of Korea. The authors used structural equation modeling procedure to evaluate the validity of proposed hypotheses.

Findings

The results suggest that innovative behavior mediates the links among centralization, formalization, and organizational innovation performance. However, the findings indicate that innovative behavior does not mediate the relationship between integration and organizational innovation performance.

Originality/value

This work is the first to examine the mediating role of innovative behavior on the associations among centralization, integration, and organizational innovation performance.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this paper is twofold: first, this work replicates the existing research by examining the links between job autonomy and work-related self-efficacy; and, second, it extends the literature by investigating the relationships between work-related self-efficacy and two forms of voice such as promotive and prohibitive and by measuring the mediating role of self-efficacy on the link between job autonomy and promotive and prohibitive voice.

Design/methodology/approach

The authors used a self-administered instrument to conduct a survey among 1,227 highly skilled employees. The researchers received a total of 904 questionnaires. After disregarding the non-usable questionnaires, the authors retained 813 questionnaires for the study. The overall response rate was 66 percent.

Findings

The results suggest that work-related self-efficacy has a significant relationship with prohibitive voice and mediates the link between job autonomy and prohibitive voice. Meanwhile, the findings of this study indicate that there is no significant association between work-related self-efficacy and promotive voice.

Originality/value

This work is the first to identify the association between work-related self-efficacy and prohibitive voice and the mediating role of work-related self-efficacy on the association between job autonomy and prohibitive voice.

Abstract

Purpose

This study aims to investigate the influence of interpersonal justice, a sub-concept of interactional justice, on information accuracy and logistics performance in the pharmaceutical supply chain.

Design/methodology/approach

For this purpose, 600 pharmacies in Korea were surveyed through questionnaires distributed via mail and direct visits and 293 valid responses were used for statistical analysis.

Findings

According to the results, the perception of interpersonal justice between buyers and sellers showed a positive effect on information accuracy, which, in turn, had a positive effect on logistics performance within the supply chain. In contrast, interpersonal justice showed an insignificant effect on logistics performance.

Practical implications

This signifies that if buyers treat sellers with respect and politeness, the accuracy of the information provided by the seller will improve, which may ultimately have a positive effect on performance. In addition, ethical behavior by both parties ensures information accuracy in the supply chain, even though it does not directly affect performance.

Originality/value

In contrast to previous research, which has focused on distributive and procedural justice, the study investigates interpersonal justice and its effects on information accuracy and logistics performance in the pharmaceutical supply chain.

Abstract

Purpose

This study aims to empirically analyze how the quality of alternatives influences the commitment level in the relationships between companies in supply chains. It also studies how this ultimately influences the associated satisfaction level and logistics performance.

Design/methodology/approach

For this purpose, the authors adopted an extended investment model based on interdependence theory. The authors explored the relationships between logistics outsourcing partners based on the components of the investment model. To examine the correlations between variables, the authors surveyed workers in domestic supply chain–related departments and used a total of 300 valid questionnaires for statistical analysis. The hypotheses were verified through structural equation modeling using SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 18.0.

Findings

The quality of alternatives had a positive influence on the commitment level. Additionally, the commitment level had a positive influence on the satisfaction level but did not have a significant influence on logistics performance. Finally, the satisfaction level exhibited a proportional relationship with logistics performance.

Research limitations/implications

First, this study examined the effects of the relationships between supply chain parties and psychological factors on logistics outsourcing. Second, this study applied the investment model to a logistics outsourcing-related topic. Finally, under the COVID-19 and the trade war, this study is significant as it shows that the existing commonly accepted hypotheses can be overturned.

Originality/value

This study differs from other studies in that it applied the investment model to a logistics outsourcing-related topic.
