Abstract

Future trends in surface coating developments must consider energy and raw materials prices, working cost, ecological imperatives and advances in technology. To be successful, a coating simultaneously must be non‐polluting, easy to apply in a short time and able to give good final properties. In the field of epoxy systems, these different aspect are well illustrated in the cases of thermosetting epoxy powder coatings and also with liquid epoxy acrylates which can be crosslinked by U. V. or β radiations, without heating.

Abstract

1) Dicyandiamide Figure XIII The guanidines are a family of epoxy hardeners of which dicyandiamide and its derivates are the most well‐known. DICY is obtained by dimerisation of cyanamide in aqueous solution. This product is characterized by low reactivity. In fact, to obtain good crosslinking, high curing temperatures are needed giving disadvantages such as: yellowing, partial decomposition of a surface coating, substrate deformation etc …

Abstract

Polidene 33–031 is an aqueous emulsion of a vinylidene chloride copolymer plasticised with a phosphate plasticiser to give a very good flexible film. Giving good water resistance and adhesion to most textile films, it has been developed by Revertex Ltd., Temple Fields, Harlow, Essex, as a binder for fire‐retardant non‐woven fabrics and as an impregant for papers required to have a soft handle.

Abstract

The article concerns the decision‐making process involved in determining the strategic need and use of multinational alliances for a specific company. In theory the process is a linear one moving from the situation analysis (company and competitive market) through evaluation of the impact of external and internal situation factors on the alliance entry choice. In practice, however, the process is an emerging one, as is shown in the company experiences described in this paper. In this sense, this study concerns the application of planning decision theory to actual company decision‐making practices.
