Abstract
Purpose
This study proposes an objective assessment model to evaluate the performance of internal and external capabilities of firms. It facilitates firms to invest appropriate resources to cultivate the organizational capability necessary to meet the requirements of the performance indicators.
Design/methodology/approach
This study integrates the concepts of resource-based theory, the organizational capability concept, and conduct a performance analysis to the four perspectives of the BSC by implementing the fuzzy set theory and data employment analysis.
Findings
The findings show that the appropriate strategies help allocate available resources and capabilities during the different product life cycle, which provides practical guidelines for firms to achieve sustaining competitive advantage.
Research limitations/implications
The selected factors were focused on four resources and capabilities rather than all possible factors.
Originality/value
An objective assessment model was created based on internal and external competitive performance efficiency in this research field. This model facilitates the ability of the top management to make decisions for resource allocation that will enhance firm's performance.

Abstract
We review the state of the literature concerning work–family conflict in the military, focusing on service members’ parenting roles and overall family and child well-being. This includes recognition that for many women service members, parenting considerations often arise long before a child is born, thereby further complicating work–family conflict considerations in regard to gender-specific conflict factors such as pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, and breastfeeding. Subsequently, we consider more gender-invariant conflict factors, such as the nature of the work itself as causing conflict for the service member as parent (e.g., nontraditional hours, long separations, and child care challenges) as well as for the child (e.g., irregular contact with parent, fear for parent’s safety, and frequent relocations), and the ramifications of such conflict on service member and child well-being. Finally, we review formalized support resources that are in place to mitigate negative effects of such conflict, and make recommendations to facilitate progress in research and practice moving forward.

Purpose
This paper aims to introduce a novel structure for the physical internet (PI)–enabled sustainable supplier selection and inventory management problem under uncertain environments.
Design/methodology/approach
To address hybrid uncertainty both in the objective function and constraints, a novel interactive hybrid multi-objective optimization solution approach combining Me-based fuzzy possibilistic programming and interval programming approaches is tailored.
Findings
Various numerical experiments are introduced to validate the feasibility of the established model and the proposed solution method.
Originality/value
Due to its interconnectedness, the PI has the opportunity to support firms in addressing sustainability challenges and reducing initial impact. The sustainable supplier selection and inventory management have become critical operational challenges in PI-enabled supply chain problems. This is the first attempt on this issue, which uses the presented novel interactive possibilistic programming method.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to calculate near field and far field scattering of SH waves by multiple multilayered anisotropic circular inclusions using parallel volume integral equation method (PVIEM) quantitatively.
Design/methodology/approach
The PVIEM is applied for the analysis of elastic wave scattering problems in an unbounded solid containing multiple multilayered anisotropic circular inclusions. It should be noted that this numerical method does not require the use of the Green’s function for the inclusion – only the Green’s function for the unbounded isotropic matrix is needed. This method can also be applied to solve general elastodynamic problems involving inhomogeneous and/or anisotropic inclusions whose shape and number are arbitrary.
Findings
A detailed analysis of the SH wave scattering problem is presented for multiple multilayered orthotropic circular inclusions. Numerical results are presented for the displacement fields at the interfaces and the far field scattering patterns for square and hexagonal packing arrays of multilayered circular inclusions in a broad frequency range of practical interest.
Originality/value
To the best of the authors’ knowledge, the solution for scattering of SH waves by multiple multilayered anisotropic circular inclusions in an unbounded isotropic matrix is not currently available in the literature. However, in this paper, calculation of displacements on interfaces and far field scattering patterns of multiple multilayered anisotropic circular inclusions using PVIEM as a pioneer of numerical modeling enables us to investigate the effects of single/multiple scattering, fiber packing type, fiber volume fraction, single/multiple layer(s), the multilayer’s geometry, isotropy/anisotropy and softness/hardness.

Abstract
Supply chain management (SCM) has evolved to fulfill the demands of the dynamic global business environment. The development of the Internet of Things (IoT), which offers unmatched connectivity and real-time data insights, has further transformed SCM. This chapter provides an overview of SCM development and its integration with IoTs. This integration led to improved inventory control, supply chain optimization (SCO), and visibility which further enhances the conventional SCM and provides benefits, such as more accurate real-time tracking and monitoring, improved data analytics, more efficient logistics and transportation management, and reduced costs and wastages. However, despite these benefits, there are various associated challenges and concerns, like privacy and data security, compatibility and interoperability, implementation costs, returns on investment, trained workforce, and training requirements, which are required to be addressed. Additionally, the outcomes of this study and managerial implications are provided along with the future research scope. Overall, this chapter provides valuable insight into the transformative potential of IoT in SCM and practical suggestions on how managers can successfully navigate difficulties and get benefits from the IoT-SCM integration. Organizations can enhance their supply chain operations, efficiency, and innovation by actively confronting challenges and taking advantage of the opportunities provided by IoT technologies. This will ultimately result in the delivery of greater value to both stakeholders and customers.

By market capitalisation, Bitcoin, which debuted in 2009, is the biggest cryptocurrency globally. A decentralised ledger system called blockchain is used in the creation, distribution, trading, and storage of Bitcoin, with the original goal being to address the shortcomings of fiat currency. This chapter highlights potential dangers and legal concerns when Bitcoin interacts with the actual economy and the traditional financial system. Besides, the details also discuss the platform’s design principles and attributes for a non-technical readership. When assessing its transactional potential, some recognise its potential for speculation, while others are doubtful of its admirable intent. The write-up also explores the potential of the adoption of cryptocurrencies in Southeast Asia due to the vast adoption of Bitcoins in countries such as Vietnam and the Philippines following the establishment of cryptocurrency technology and e-commerce. In addition, rankings of the cryptocurrency and legal stance from each country in Southeast Asia were exhibited as the solid foundation of cryptocurrencies existent for transaction purposes. The rise of central bank digital currencies (CBDC) and the future directions of Bitcoins were also highlighted in this write-up to spur the debate on whether cryptocurrency remains a fad of sensation or is legalised as the medium of exchange in an ever-growing digital world of commerce.

This chapter delves into the crucial intersection of Destination Social Responsibility (DSR) and sustainable development within the context of coastal marine tourism destinations. The research objective is to offer a comprehensive analysis of how DSR practices influence the trajectory of sustainable development in these unique environments. Employing a qualitative interview with key stakeholders, content analysis of policy documents and quantitative surveys of tourists, this study endeavours to attain a holistic knowledge of the intricate dynamics at play. By triangulating these methods, we aim to establish a robust foundation for comprehending the multifaceted relationship between DSR initiatives and sustainable development outcomes. The findings reveal a nuanced interplay between DSR and sustainable development indicators. Notably, the integration of socially responsible practices positively correlates with enhanced environmental conservation efforts, increased community engagement and heightened visitor satisfaction levels. This research advances our comprehension of the interdependency between DSR and sustainable development. Hence, it is important to acknowledge its limitations. The practical implications of this study are manifold. Policymakers, destination managers, as well as industry stakeholders stand to benefit from a nuanced understanding of how DSR practices can be leveraged to drive sustainable development. This chapter is responsible for the current literature by offering an extensive analysis of the interplay between DSR as well as sustainable development in coastal marine tourism destinations. By synthesising empirical findings and theoretical frameworks, this research provides a valuable resource for scholars, policymakers and industry practitioners seeking to navigate the complex landscape of responsible tourism development.
