Abstract
Purpose
The paper presents a new variant of the H-Φ field formulation for solving 3-D magnetostatic and frequency domain eddy current problems. The suggested formulation uses the vector and scalar tetrahedral elements within conducting and non-conducting domains, respectively. The presented numerical method is capable of solving multiply connected regions and eliminates the need for computing the source current density and the source magnetic field before the actual magnetostatic and eddy current simulations. The obtained magnetostatic results are verified by comparison against the corresponding results of the standard stationary current distribution analysis combined with the Biot-Savart integration. The accuracy of the eddy current results is demonstrated by comparison against the classical A-A-f approach in frequency domain.
Design/methodology/approach
The theory and implementation of the new H-Φ magnetostatic and eddy current solver is presented in detail. The method delivers reliable results without the need to compute the source current density and source magnetic field before the actual simulation.
Findings
The proposed H-Φ produce radically smaller and considerably better conditioned equation systems than the alternative A-A approach, which usually requires the unphysical regularization in terms of a low electric conductivity value within the nonconductive domain.
Originality/value
The presented numerical method is capable of solving multiply connected regions and eliminates the need for computing the source current density and the source magnetic field before the actual magnetostatic and eddy current simulations.

Abstract
The v×B term in eddy current equations for conducting fluids is an instance of contraction of a differential form by a vector field. We search for a natural way to discretize such contractions. Looking at the operation of extrusion of a manifold, which is dual to contraction, provides the main clue. Two example applications, Carpenter's gauge and Eulerian computations in MHD problems, are suggested.

Abstract
The school-to-prison pipeline is a term used to describe the pathway traveled by students from public schools to incarceration in secure juvenile detention and correctional programs. It begins with students who are marginalized by the education system because of their academic and behavioral issues. The pipeline leads from school failure and disciplinary exclusion to involvement with the juvenile justice system. Youth who are ethnic minorities (especially those who are African-American or Hispanic) as well as those with educational disabilities (especially those with learning and behavioral disorders) are significantly overrepresented in data sets representing key points along the pipeline (e.g., students with poor academic achievement, high rates of suspension, expulsion, and dropout) as well as their high rates of incarceration. From his personal perspective and experience with the juvenile justice system, the author attempts to explicate the pipeline, and to describe efforts to impact it positively.

Abstract
Recent research suggests that prosocial organizations are likely to have more prosocial employees, and that this match plays a significant role in organization contracting practices and productivity – for example, in government. Evidence suggests that selection plays a role: prosocial employees are more likely to join prosocial organizations. In this paper, we ask whether prosocial behavior increases with tenure in prosocial organizations. Using a unique sample of nearly 300 mid-career Indonesian public officials, we find that subjects with longer tenure in the public sector exhibit greater prosocial behavior.

Abstract
Fig.1 shows a permanent magnet bistable actuator operated by switching the current in alternate directions. It is characterised by long air gaps, and, for mechanical reasons, the cross‐section of the moving part (armature) is much smaller than those of other parts. These features make the magnetic field problem essentially 3‐dimensional, although the main flux path is confined to the longitudinal (x,y) plane. The amount of detail requires a 2D mesh of about 3000 elements in this cross‐section and about 500 elements in the transvers cross‐section, so that a full 3D solution would require a substantial calculation. The dynamic force characteristic requires a magnetic field distribution for each level of current in the coil and each position of the armature, thus creating strong incentives to use 2D approximations.

Abstract
Supervision is considered the signature pedagogy and after direct client practice it is rated as the number one learning and development method by practitioners. However, as we set out in this chapter, the relationship between supervision and client outcomes is not a strong one. Drawing on the use of routine outcome data, we demonstrate how clinical supervision can be improved when both practitioner and supervisor demonstrate an attitude of humility and a willingness to learn from the data they collect. Using these data to enhance supervision by improving client outcomes and to inform deliberate practice (DP) is the hall mark of the effective twenty-first century practitioner and supervisor.

Abstract
The study purpose was to assess the evidence on the effects of hospital restructuring that included layoffs, on nurses who remained employed, using a systematic review of the research literature to contribute to policy formation. Papers addressing research, hospital restructuring resulting in layoffs, effects on nurses, and a stated relationship between the independent and dependent variables were included. Data were extracted and the quality of each study was assessed. The final group of included studies had 22 empirical papers. The main effects were significant decreases in job satisfaction, professional efficacy, ability to provide quality care, physical and emotional health, and increases in turnover, and disruption to healthcare team relationships. Nurses with fewer years of experience or who experienced multiple episodes of restructuring experienced greater effects. Other findings remain inconclusive. Further research is required to determine if these effects are temporal or can be mitigated by individual or organizational strategies.
