Abstract

Purpose

This study aims to recognize the role of information system (IS) model on young adults’ experience of housing and real estate chatbots. This model of IS takes into account the quality of information, the quality of system and the quality of service.

Design/methodology/approach

This study uses a sample frame for analysis which comprises young adult population in India, i.e. between the ages of 18 and 35. A questionnaire consisting of five components was used to collect information in a structured manner. The 386 responses thus collected were analysed using the structural equation model.

Findings

It was found that there is a significant influence of the quality of information, quality of system and quality of service on young adults’ experience of housing and real estate chatbots. The findings also showed that there is moderation role of effort expectancy between the quality parameters and young adults’ user experience of housing and real estate chatbots.

Research limitations/implications

This study focusses exclusively on the young adults from various parts of India. Future research can consider larger population categories across age groups and across sectors employing chatbots.

Practical implications

This study will enable in-depth understanding of IS model – quality dimensions’ relation with the user experience. In particular, housing and real estate organisations will profit from the expanded usage of artificial intelligence through chatbots for user correspondence and communication.

Originality/value

To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is first of its kind, as it investigates how IS model – quality dimensions affect the young adults’ experience of housing and real estate chatbots in India. This study also ventures into identifying the moderation role of effort expectancy between the quality dimensions as per IS model and young adults’ experience of housing and real estate chatbots. This study will be useful for the stakeholders of housing and real estate industry.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this paper is to address a classic problem – pattern formation identified by researchers in the area of swarm robotic systems – and is also motivated by the need for mathematical foundations in swarm systems.

Design/methodology/approach

The work is separated out as inspirations, applications, definitions, challenges and classifications of pattern formation in swarm systems based on recent literature. Further, the work proposes a mathematical model for swarm pattern formation and transformation.

Findings

A swarm pattern formation model based on mathematical foundations and macroscopic primitives is proposed. A formal definition for swarm pattern transformation and four special cases of transformation are introduced. Two general methods for transforming patterns are investigated and a comparison of the two methods is presented. The validity of the proposed models, and the feasibility of the methods investigated are confirmed on the Traer Physics and Processing environment.

Originality/value

This paper helps in understanding the limitations of existing research in pattern formation and the lack of mathematical foundations for swarm systems. The mathematical model and transformation methods introduce two key concepts, namely macroscopic primitives and a mathematical model. The exercise of implementing the proposed models on physics simulator is novel.

Abstract

Purpose

This study aims to investigate and compare the influence of various fiber types (polypropylene, steel and glass) on the workability, mechanical properties, ductility, impact resistance, durability and microscopic properties of geopolymer concrete (GPC) with conventional concrete (CC).

Design/methodology/approach

The CC and GPC of M40 grade were incorporated with an optimum 1% of fibers and superplasticizers were added in a ratio of 2% by weight of the geopolymer binder. The slump cone and compaction factor tests were performed to analyze the workability. To evaluate the mechanical performance of GPC, the compressive strength (CS), split tensile strength (STS), flexural strength (FS) and modulus of elasticity (MOE) tests were performed. A falling weight impact test was performed to determine the impact energy (IE) absorbed, the number of blows for initial cracking, the number of blows for complete failure and the ductility aspect.

Findings

Fibers and superplasticizers significantly improve GPC properties. The study found that fibers reduce the brittleness of concrete, improving the impact and mechanical strength compared to similar-grade CC. The steel fibers-reinforced GPC has a 15.42% higher CS than CC after three days, showing a faster CS gain. After 28 days, GPC and CC have MOE in the range of 23.9–25.5 GPa and 28.8–30.9 GPa, respectively. The ultimate IE of the GPC with fibers was found to be 5.43% to 21.17% higher than GPC without fibers.

Originality/value

The findings of the study can be used to explore different combinations of raw materials and mix designs to optimize the performance of GPC.
