Abstract
Purpose
This paper analyses the relationship between financial sector development (FSD) and life insurance inclusion in India during the period from 1971–1972 to 2016–2017. The study analyses the effect of financial deepening on life insurance inclusion in India.
Design/methodology/approach
The study employs augmented Dickey–Fuller (ADF) unit roots test to check the stationarity properties of the time series data. It estimates a life insurance inclusion model using the auto-regressive distributed lag model (ARDL) bounds testing approach to cointegration.
Findings
The study finds evidence of a cointegrating relationship between financial deepening and life insurance inclusion in India. A significant error correction coefficient indicates automatic adjustments to short-run disequilibrium, reinforcing the cointegrating relationship between financial sector and life insurance inclusion.
Research limitations/implications
A major limitation of the study is that it excludes the first-time sum assured (FSA) contributed by the private sector life insurance companies due to lack of data availability.
Practical implications
The results of the study call for faster expansion of the financial sector and provision of a low interest rate regime in the Indian economy. The study invokes the need for sufficient training to the personnel in the banking and non-banking institutions to cater to the complex needs of life insurance buyers.
Originality/value
The paper estimates the link between FSD and life insurance inclusion and introduces a new measure of life insurance demand, the life insurance inclusion, measured using the FSA.

Abstract
Examines issues related to the successes and failures of Internet businesses. Recent literature has stressed the value of microeconomic models of markets to analyze e‐business models and strategy. The concepts of transaction costs, switching costs, network externalities and product versioning are especially useful in understanding business strategy in the new information economy. These concepts are reviewed and analyzed. A deeper assessment of Internet‐based businesses, both successes and failures, reveals a number of other constructs that are relevant for analysis, viz. infrastructure investment models, user experience models and models of revenue generation. These constructs reveal the inherent complexity of the electronic medium for conducting business and point to the subtle issues that determine success or failure. Case studies and examples are used to illustrate the usefulness of these constructs.

Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the macroeconomic determinants of life insurance demand in India. The recent decline in life insurance activity calls for a study on the factors influencing life insurance demand in India.
Design/methodology/approach
This study employs econometric techniques like augmented Dickey-Fuller test, Johansen cointegration test, vector error correction models and the Granger causality test to estimate the macroeconomic predictors of life insurance demand in India, during the period 1980-1981 to 2013-2014.
Findings
Financial sector development and inflation positively influence life insurance demand in India. The real rate of interest and income are negatively related to life insurance consumption. The study finds an insignificant relation between the level of social security expenditure and life insurance buying. Financial sector development is found to Granger-cause life insurance demand.
Research limitations/implications
Product-wise analysis of life insurance demand is not attempted due to lack of unit-level data. The impact of regulatory changes on life insurance demand in India is not attempted.
Practical implications
Intervention by the policy makers is required to arrest the decline of life insurance activity in India. Efforts are required to widen the financial sector of the Indian economy to accelerate the growth of life insurance activity.
Originality/value
The paper introduces a new measure of life insurance demand, the total regular new business premium, in the estimation of life insurance demand determination.

Abstract
Purpose
Candlestick charts are a key tool for the technical analysis of cryptocurrency price fluctuations. It is essential to examine trends in the time series of a financial asset when completing an analysis. To accurately examine its potential future performance, it must also consider how it has changed and been active during the period. The researchers created cryptocurrency trading algorithms in this study based on the traditional candlestick pattern.
Design/methodology/approach
The data includes information on Bitcoin prices from early 2012 until 2021. Only the engulfing Candlestick model was able to anticipate changes in the price movements of Bitcoin. The traditional Harami model does not work with Bitcoin trading platforms because it has yet to generate profitable business results. An inverted Harami is a successful cryptocurrency trading method.
Findings
The inverted Harami approach accounts for 6.98 profit factor (PrF) and 74–50% of profitable (Pr) transactions, which favors a particularly long position. Additionally, the study discovered that almost all analyzed candlestick patterns forecast longer trends greater than shorter trends.
Research limitations/implications
To statistically study its future potential return, examining how it has changed and been active over the years is necessary. Such valuations are the basis for trading strategies that could help traders and investors in the cryptocurrency market. Without sacrificing clarity or ease of application, the proposed approach has increased performance by up to 32.5% of mean absolute error (MAE).
Originality/value
This study is novel in that it used multilayer autoregressive neural network (MARN) models with crypto-net (CNM) in machine learning to analyze a time series of financial cryptocurrencies. Here, the primary study deals with time trends extracted through a neural network model. Then, the developed model was tested using Bitcoin and Ethereum. Finally, CNM validity was tested through linear regression.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to empirically examine the impact of perceived risks, optimism and financial literacy on trust and the perceived value of cryptocurrencies. It will also examine the impact of trust on the perceived value of cryptocurrencies.
Design/methodology/approach
A quantitative approach is followed. A questionnaire was designed to collect data from 308 respondents in Jordan. The Structural Equation Modeling – Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) method was used to evaluate the research model and test hypotheses.
Findings
The results of PLS algorithm analysis showed that perceived risks negatively impact the optimism and trust in cryptocurrencies. This study revealed that while financial literacy minimizes the perceived risks, it serves to enhance optimism and improve the perception of the value of cryptocurrencies. Furthermore, the findings of this study show that optimism plays a significant role in trust and perceived value.
Originality/value
This study provides new insights into the literature on cryptocurrencies adoption, blockchain theory, the theory of trust in financial systems, the role of the optimism factor and the perception of the value of cryptocurrencies. It also provides important practical implications for different stakeholders.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of the paper is to investigate photochemical machining characteristics of stainless steel (AISI 304-SS304) parts with a novel design are investigated experimentally from the aspect of process parameters. The effects of phototool pattern geometry, ultraviole (UV) exposure time and etching time on of AISI 304 were evaluated.
Design/methodology/approach
The designed semi-automated photochemical manufacturing (PCM) equipment consists of 4 units, which include UV exposure, etching, developing and surface cleaning units. Experimental procedure has been designed via Taguchi method. Results were evaluated via Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) method.
Findings
Etching time is the most effective factor in PCM quality of AISI 304 stainless steel. Surface roughness is sensitive to geometrical pattern of the phototool for PCM of AISI 304 UV exposure time is less influential on the PCM quality for stainless steel.
Research limitations/implications
The designed PCM equipment prototype is not fully automated, which requires automation for part replacements into units. The effects of the temperature inside chemical processing units on process characteristics cannot be evaluated due to equipment limitations. The effects of surface cleaning time inside surface cleaning unit are not analyzed.
Originality/value
The utilized PCM equipment is semi-automated equipment, with which the process parameters such as etching time, surface cleaning time, UV exposure time and developing time can be controlled. Different from literature, the effects of phototool pattern geometries on the photochemical machining quality parameters are evaluated for the processing of AISI 304. The effects of processing parameters on dimensional accuracy, which is not common in the literature for AISI 304 stainless steel, are also evaluated.

Abstract
Purpose
A rich agenda for future research in the field of Lean Manufacturing (LM) is available in the academic literature. The purpose of this paper is to determine the LM future research methodologies suggested in the literature and to classify them into themes. Classifying these themes into broad categories is also an aim of the present study.
Design/methodology/approach
For the purpose of the present study, a systematic literature review (SLR) of peer reviewed journal articles in LM was conducted. A total of 214 articles published in 46 journals during 2010–2020 were collected from four major management science publishers, namely, Emerald Online, Elsevier/Science Direct, Springer Link and Taylor and Francis. To organize the qualitative data into meaningful themes and these themes into broad categories, the quality tool “affinity diagram” was applied.
Findings
The review of LM articles that are increasing over time reveals the “vital few” academic journals, which have published most of the sample articles. The plethora of the suggested future research methodologies are analytically presented and classified into meaningful themes, namely, the size of the research sample and its composition, several types of study (other than surveys), longitudinal studies, applying advanced statistical analysis and (mathematical) modeling techniques, objective, real and quantitative data, surveys, mixed/multiple research studies, reliability and validity analysis, using computer-aided technology for data collection and processing and research collaborations. These themes in turn are classified into broad categories, namely, study, data and statistical analysis and modeling.
Research limitations/implications
This SLR is not comprehensive because the number of the databases searched is restricted to four. Moreover, the literature review is limited to peer reviewed journal articles regarding Lean only in the manufacturing sector, while the subject reviewed is limited to the future research methodologies. The subjectivity of classifying the large number of the future research methodologies into themes and these themes into broad categories is also a limitation of the present SLR. Based on these limitations, future literature review studies can be carried out.
Practical implications
Researchers can be analytically informed about the future research methodologies suggested in the literature and their respective key themes and broad categories, to design original research studies of high academic and practical value.
Originality/value
This study goes beyond previous SLRs on LM by presenting analytically the plethora of the future research methodologies suggested in the literature as well as by identifying natural patterns or groupings of these methodologies.
