Abstract
This paper presents the results of a series of tests made in order to validate the magneto‐thermal module of the new FLUX3D v3.40. The tool was conceived to solve the coupled problems of electromagnetic and thermal phenomena. The solving method of the program considers a thermal‐transient problem during a certain period of time and it solves, at each time step, the thermal and electromagnetic equations (in quasi‐stationary magneto‐harmonic formulation), alternatively. We have modelled the inductive longitudinal welding of steel pipes. The results of 3D simulations are compared with measurements on a laboratory device.

Abstract
This paper analyses the conditions for which the results of eddy currents computation in thin regions modelled by surface regions are concordant with those obtained using volume finite elements. The concepts of geometrically thin or thick region, electromagnetically thin or thick region, 2D or 3D problem, transverse or longitudinal flux problem are used to characterise the limits of the surface model. The computation of eddy currents in sheets heated in transverse flux inductors and of the eddy current losses in metallic casing of an induction furnace highlights the surface finite element applicability.

Abstract
Purpose
Analysis and development of a high efficiency, induction heated chemical reactor, medium frequency supplied (1,000‐2,000 Hz), able to be equipped with efficient cooling circuits.
Design/methodology/approach
The numerical investigations of the technical solutions proposed in this paper are based on 3D finite element models that are experimentally validated.
Findings
Solutions to increase the transparency of the cooling envelope of the reactor tank with respect to magnetic field. The positions of envelope regions characterized by high values of power losses are experimentally confirmed by infrared temperature measurements.
Practical implications
The numerical analysis and the experimental investigations, show the possibility to implement efficient cooling circuits in chemical reactors without affecting the performances of the induction heating process. By designing properly the metallic envelope of the tank the global efficiencies of the chemical reactors increase at around 90 percent with reduced impact on the working environment and with low costs.
Originality
This paper proposes an innovative chemical reactor medium frequency induction heated with efficient cooling circuits and with high global efficiency, higher than the actual induction heated chemical reactors.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to assess the effects of housing market shocks on real output in South Africa, by focusing on the real private consumption channel.
Design/methodology/approach
It measures housing market shocks as non-monetary housing shocks, uses a data set covering the period 1969Q4-2014Q4 and uses the agnostic identification procedure.
Findings
The paper finds that 20 per cent of the variation in house prices is explained by these shocks. The paper also finds that the effects of housing demand shocks on real private consumption are short-lived and generate a transitory real output response. Overall, housing demand shocks have managed to explain nearly 13 per cent and 14 per cent of the variation in real private consumption and real output respectively, over 20-quarters ahead forecast revision.
Research limitations/implications
This finding suggests that shocks emanating from the housing market in the country are essential and should be considered when making macroeconomic policy decisions.
Originality/value
None of the existing studies, to our knowledge, have empirically assessed the effects of housing market shocks on real output directly. This paper attempts to contribute to the literature by assessing the direct impact of housing market shocks on the real output, using South Africa as a case study.

Abstract
Purpose
The access to the rare originals of the early Spanish colonial imprints of the Philippines remains problematic. The reference librarians often are restricted to directing the students and scholars to the secondary resources that are available both in print and as a part of the digital assets within the North American academic libraries. This paper aims to focus on the select primary source editions including select Spanish language colonial imprints that are available electronically on the Web along the Open Access. These Web-based resources serve as the reference tools for the early history of the Philippines and Southeast Asia. As many of these publications are rare and extremely expensive for most libraries, the Open Access resources serve as an aid to building a virtual collection of these items.
Design/methodology/approach
The author had to create a data set of the early imprints of the Spanish Philippines using several bibliographic resources. The data set will be submitted as an Appendix for this research paper. The author did both qualitative and quantitative analysis of the data set along with the voyant-based digital humanities approach for topic modeling.
Findings
The goals of this paper were to not only survey the early Spanish printing of the Philippines but also provide the reader with a somewhat complete picture of how the printing began in the Spanish Philippines, what kind of the first books were printed and how one can access them given their rarity and fragility. The collection building paradigms are undergoing significant shifts, and the focus of many academic libraries is shifting toward providing access to these items. As these items high-value low-use items continue to be part of the Special Collections, the access to these is problematic. The virtual collections thus serve as a viable alternative that enables further research and access. While the creators of these works are long gone, the legacy of the Spanish colonial domination, printing and the religious orders in the Philippines remain alive through these works.
Research limitations/implications
As this is an introductory paper, the author focused on the critical editions rather than providing a comprehensive bibliographic landscape of the presses that produced these editions. He also did not take into consideration many pamphlets that were published in the same period. He also did not consider the Chinese language publications of the Islands. The Chinese had been block printing since medieval times (Little, 1996). In the context of the Spanish Philippines, the Chinese migration and trade have been studied in detail by Chia (2006), Bjork (1998) and Gebhardt (2017). The scope of this paper also was centered toward building a virtual collection of these rare books.
Practical implications
Rare books are often expensive and out-of-reach for many libraries; the virtual collection of the same along the Open Access model represents an alternative to collect and curate these collections. The stewardship of these collections also acquires a new meaning in the digital milieu.
Social implications
This research paper will allow scholars to see past the analog editions and help them focus on curating a virtual collection. The questions of electronic access are often ignored when it comes to visiting and using them in a controlled environment of the reading room in the Special Collections. The author argues that one way to enable access to these rare and expensive books is to provide access to their digital counterparts. These digital/virtual surrogates of the originals will facilitate further research.
Originality/value
The author could not find similar research on the publications of the early Spanish colony of the Philippines.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to facilitate consistency of information in building information modelling (BIM) and address the current BIM gaps through the perspectives of the productization concept and product structure (PS).
Design/methodology/approach
The study follows a conceptual research approach in conjunction with a single case study. First, the previous studies on BIM implementation, productization and PS are reviewed. Further, a case study is used to analyse the current state of productization in the construction sector and develop a functional PS for construction.
Findings
A Part-Phase-Elements Matrix is proposed as a construction-specific PS to facilitate consistency in information and to enhance BIM. The proposed matrix provides new avenues to facilitate consistent information exchange through the interconnection between conceptual PS and standard building objects library, and encourage collaborative communication between stakeholders.
Originality/value
This study explores the core of the productization concept and PS as means to facilitate consistency of information and thus address the current gaps in BIM. This as building projects progressively move towards systematic modular and prefabricated construction where the flow of reliable information about product and construction offerings becomes increasingly important.
