Abstract
Due to the similarities in structure ISO 14001 is often “sold” to companies on the back of the ISO 9000 quality systems standard. However, there is no ISO 9000 equivalent to the identification and assessment of environmental aspects and impacts. Based on practical experiences within a UK automotive supplier, this paper compares and contrasts two approaches for identifying and assessing environmental aspects and impacts, namely a mass balance and audit. The type of approach was found to affect both the structure and operation of the overall system and highlights important issues that need to be addressed in initial design. The popularity of ISO 14001 suggests these findings are relevant for other organisations implementing environmental management systems.

Abstract
Due to the country’s most recent wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and the enactment of the Post 9/11 GI Bill, colleges and universities across the United States have experienced a remarkable increase in student veteran enrollment. As a result, many college campuses have been challenged with knowing how to effectively support veterans as they transition from military life to college life. Although there is notable good intention, this challenge can impact an institution’s ability to offer adequate support. Consequently, many student veterans remain at the margins of the college experience, often affected by their distinct circumstances and a campus that may not be fully prepared to support them. This is a matter of equity and inclusion at its core. Students who are not well understood are likely to be underrepresented and underserved. Therefore, veterans must be included in the equity and inclusion conversation. A review of the literature confirms that student veteran support must involve a greater understanding of the student veteran experience, address institutional barriers to access, replace deficit models of support with more equitable practices, and challenge the dominant paradigm of student success that overemphasizes students’ individual and group characteristics and overlooks the role educators play in student achievement.

Abstract
A review is made of several efforts to describe the instructional emphasis and curricular content of courses relating to theory in educational administration. A summary is then provided of the evolution and eventual discontinuance of one approach to the teaching of theory which has previously been cited in the literature. Finally, a course format initiated as a replacement for the aforementioned instructional approach is described, and the content of the new course is discussed in some detail. A thesis of the article is that by making explicit what is taught concerning theory in educational administration it is thereby possible to provide a greater impetus for an increased theoretical orientation within the discipline.

Abstract
Purpose
To describe the contextual supervision (CS) model, and to invite interested researchers to study its effects in a wider range of applications across a variety of management fields.
Design/methodology/approach
The developer of the CS model summarizes how he refined and studied the original situational leadership approach to assist supervisory personnel in education to mentor teacher‐interns as they developed their classroom instructional skills.
Findings
The 15 years of accumulated CS findings have consistently identified several strengths and one lingering limitation with the model. Key strengths are that CS is intuitively appealing and relatively easy to learn and that it helps participants clearly conceptualize the entire supervisory process. The limitation is that there appears to be a small, but persistent, number of supervisors who, although trained in CS, tend to exhibit a mismatch of style with supervisee developmental level.
Practical implications
There is enough research evidence to suggest that the CS model has potential to be adapted and studied by managerial personnel across a variety of other supervisory areas; and that it could enhance supervisors’ mentoring of protégés engaged in learning and/or improving the skills and knowledge specific to their particular fields.
Originality/value
The author invites collaborative inquiry across disciplines in order to have scholars and practitioners consider applying the CS model in their mentoring activities; and also to study and to disseminate the results in order to add to the research base on CS.

Abstract
Knowledge of how social movements move, diffuse, and expand collective action events is central to movement scholarship and activist practice. Our purpose is to extend sociological knowledge about how movements (sometimes) diffuse and amplify insurgent actions, that is, how movements move. We extend movement diffusion theory by drawing a conceptual analogue with military theory and practice applied to the case of the organized and highly disciplined nonviolent Nashville civil rights movement in the late 1950s and early 1960s. We emphasize emplacement in a base-mission extension model whereby a movement base is built in a community establishing a social movement school for inculcating discipline and performative training in cadre who engage in insurgent operations extended from that base to outlying events and campaigns. Our data are drawn from secondary sources and semi-structured interviews conducted with participants of the Nashville civil rights movement. The analytic strategy employs a variant of the “extended case method,” where extension is constituted by movement agents following paths from base to outlying campaigns or events. Evidence shows that the Nashville movement established an exemplary local movement base that led to important changes in that city but also spawned traveling movement cadre who moved movement actions in an extensive series of pathways linking the Nashville base to events and campaigns across the southern theater of the civil rights movement. We conclude with theoretical and practical implications.

The findings reported in this paper indicate employers and employees are generally unaware that the National Labor Relations Act (as amended) provides that the only obligation that can be enforced against an individual employee under a union shop contract is the obligation to pay dues and fees. Failure to understand the provisions of the law has serious implications for both employers and employees. Therefore, policy recommendations are advanced to deal with the problems engendered by the general lack of awareness of the provisions of the law.

Grounded theory (GT) is a very crucial qualitative tool in research inquiry. It embraces systematic, inductive, and comparative inquiry method to construct a theory. GT is mostly appropriate to investigate organizational phenomena, which involves a change process. In this chapter, the authors focus on the emergence of GT as a research inquiry tool with the focus how GT evolves from classis grounded theory to constructivist ground theory. In the detailed method of GT, a focus is given on coding method along with theoretical sampling and theoretical saturation points. Despite being a powerful technique, GT has drawn a number of criticisms. Majority GT researchers consider the technique as an inductive method with a few exceptions, where it has been deliberated as a deductive method. However, in the line of Corley (2015), it can be argued that GT should be considered as a methodological approach to study inductive phenomena having less understanding of theoretical perspective. Chapter concludes with identifying future scope of study in the field of GT.

Appearance in this column does not preclude a later review in RSR.
