Abstract
Purpose
The aim of this paper is to investigate the scholarly communications in open access journals of library & information science and to study the key dimensions of these publications.
Design/methodology/approach
For the analysis of the study, top ten open access journals of 2011, which were indexed in SCOPUS, have been selected. The authors employed necessary bibliometric measures to analyze different publication parameters.
Findings
It is found that the contribution of articles in these top ten open access journals in 2011 is good, i.e. 37.3 percent. Single authored papers are found to be the highest (40.48 percent), followed by two-authored and then three-authored papers. The degree of collaboration is found to be between 0.33 and 0.8. The numbers of citations used in the paper are also good (average 21.48 percent paper). In regards to ranking of country productivity, the USA topped the list.
Research limitations/implications
This paper focuses on the publication traits of top ten open access journals of library & information science of the year 2011. A total of 373 papers from these ten journals are analyzed. Further studies can include more open access journals of this field for a period of more than one year.
Practical implications
Scholars can benefit from insights into the scholarly contributions of top ten open access journals of 2011 in the field of library & information science.
Originality/value
This paper provides valuable insights into the nature of academic publishing of open access journals of library & information science. It can help the researchers, professionals, teachers and students to understand the top open access journals, valuable contributions, highly cited journals, country productivity, and other parameters.

Abstract
Purpose
This study focuses on Aaker's Brand Equity Model, to check the effect of brand equity determinants on booking intention (BI) for ridesharing in India. The study also explores the moderation of ecologically conscious consumer behavior (ECCB) on the multiplicative effect of brand awareness (BAw), brand association (BA) and perceived quality (PQ) in influencing the BI.
Design/methodology/approach
Responses from 393 Indian ridesharing users were collected using judgmental sampling and were analyzed using Hayes Process macro.
Findings
The study found a direct relationship between BAw and BI, BAw and BA, BAw and PQ, BA and PQ, PQ and BI, and BA and BI. Findings revealed mediation of BA in BAw and BI relationship and PQ in BAw and BI relationship. Results revealed that BA and PQ serially mediate BAw and BI relationship. ECCB moderates PQ and BI relationship but not BAw and BI relationship.
Research limitations/implications
Serial mediation and moderated-mediation results draw various theoretical implications for determinants of Aaker's Brand Equity model and ECCB.
Practical implications
The research has several implications for managers in view of brand equity determinants and ECCB. The study also contributes to policy implications.
Originality/value
Study's novel contributions are mediation, serial mediation between brand equity determinants, and moderation of ECCB between BAw and BI for ridesharing.

Purpose
The purpose of this study was to optimize meat slices for processing attributes to produce better sensory features in developed products from buffalo veal and chevon. The processing parameters such as meat particle size, fat content and binding ability without chopping were the subject of this study.
Design/methodology/approach
The study involved three experiments where the particle size, fat content and tumbling time were optimized for optimum binding and improvement in different sensory attributes of product followed by physico-chemical analysis.
Findings
The sensory scores clearly indicated that meat slices prepared from 3 mm meat particle size, 10% fat content and 1 h tumbling time were having best sensory features. The selected product was analyzed for different physico-chemical properties. Emulsion stability and cooking yield revealed significantly (p = 0.01) higher values of 91.6% and 89.7%, respectively, in buffalo veal than in values of 87.6% and 84.9%, respectively, in the chevon product. Similarly the results showed that buffalo veal slices had significantly (p = 0.01) higher (17.4%) protein than the chevon (15.2%), whereas chevon slices had significantly (p = 0.01) higher (10.3%) fat content. The texture profile analysis indicated that cohesiveness (p = 0.01) and chewiness (p = 0.05) were significantly higher in chevon product than in buffalo veal.
Originality/value
The study was conducted to explore the buffalo veal as a potential source of quality meat, as majority of buffalo meat produced in India from spent animals have compromised quality attributes. The comparison was done with chevon, the most popular red meat in the country for the comparative study.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to study the effect of orange peel and moringa leaves extracts on microbiological safety, sensory quality, lipid oxidation and color properties of chicken sausages under frozen storage.
Design/methodology/approach
Chicken sausages were prepared by using orange peel, moringa leaves extracts and butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT). The sausages were stored in a freezer at −18°C. Samples were taken at a regular interval of 20 days from the day of production to spoilage of sausages and analyzed for microbiological safety, sensory quality, lipid oxidation and color properties.
Findings
In comparison to the control sausage, sausages having BHT, orange peel and moringa leaves extract had a significantly (p < 0.05) lower bacterial, yeast and mold count. All the sausages were microbiologically safe for consumption till the 100th day, and the results of the 120th day crossed the permissible limits. Sensory acceptability scores of sausages were good (>6) throughout the storage period. The color values of sausages were not affected by the addition of orange peel and moringa leaves extract. The extent of lipid oxidation increased during storage, and sausages with BHT, orange peel and moringa leaves extract had significantly (p < 0.05) lower values of thiobarbituric acid reactive substances and free fatty acids (FFAs) toward the end of the storage period.
Originality/value
The observations of this paper endorse the use of orange peel and moringa leaves extract in meat products formulation for acceptable storage stability under frozen conditions.

Abstract
The operations strategy literature has identified four primary dimensions on which a firm competes with another. These are: price, quality, flexibility, and delivery dependability. Of these, quality is perhaps the most critical dimension in terms of the impact on the degree of competitiveness imparted to a firm by a competitiveness dimension. In this paper, we propose a quantitative measure – quality competitiveness index (QCI) – to determine the degree to which a firm’s quality practices and policies are instrumental in improving its competitiveness. The QCI can be effectively employed for benchmarking among competing firms. More importantly, however, the process leading to the determination of QCI is itself an educative one – the weaknesses and strengths of a company with respect to its quality practices and policies come right to the fore and the company can usefully employ this information to improve competitiveness for quality.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to investigate the prevalence of shock boundary layer interaction (SBLI) in air-breathing intake system is highly undesirable since this leads to high pressure gradients, typical stream mutilation and pressure drop. A novel flow control mechanism is incorporated in this research holding an array configuration of passive flow control device (micro ramps [MR]) that is adapted to improve the boundary layer stability.
Design/methodology/approach
Two geometric variants of the MR, namely, MR40 and MR80 is considered which reduce the pressure drop during SBLI. The incidence oblique shock wave angle of 34° is considered for the modelling. Large eddy simulation (LES) turbulence model was used with subgrid models of Wall modelled LES, Smagorinsky–Lilly to compute the unsteady effects of SBLI control using micro vortex generators. The unsteady results are compared with steady Reynold’s average Naviers–Stoke’s equation for calibrating the turbulence models.
Findings
The array configuration of MR80 reduces the pressure drop by 22% as compared with no ramp configuration and also reduces the flow distortion in hypersonic inlet. The most affected region of the MR is in the vicinity of center-line. Quantitative results prove that the upstream influence of the shock waves has been largely reduces by MR80 array configuration as compared to single MR80 pattern configuration. Different vortex structures found in the experiments was exclusively predicted using LES.
Originality/value
This paper substantiates the requirement of MR array configuration for transferring the momentum from free stream to the boundary layer and thereby energizing the boundary layer. This process of energization delays the flow separation in hypersonic flow.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to check the Solar Photovoltaic (PV) inverter working condition with modified unipolar switching pulse. The gate pulse for the inverter switches is generated in MATLAB simulation and interfaced with hardware protype. Simulation results can be compared with hardware results.
Design/methodology/approach
A considerable amount of research has been done on different Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) techniques. Based on the findings, a modified Unipolar Sinusoidal PWM technique was created with one reference signal and two carrier signals+ (one for the positive half cycle and the other for the negative half cycle) and simulated in the MATLAB/Simulink platform. The prototype inverter module receives the simulated switching pulses via dSPACE DS1104 hardware software interfacing board. The hardware implementation has been done, and the hardware results compared with simulation results for various input voltage levels using resistive load.
Findings
This modified switching pulse has dead band and additional hardware setup is not required. 3-phase multi-level inverter output waveform has been achieved with six switches in this method and with low filter values, pure sine wave output can be obtained in simulation. By this method of switching pulse generation and testing, for every modification in switching pulse hardware gate driver is not required. Resulting time consumption and money investment are lower.
Originality/value
Modified Unipolar SPWM pulse generation technique is novel method for solar PV inverter. The switching pulse has been designed and tested in both MATLAB/Simulation and hardware prototype inverter. Hardware and software results are identical. This method of pulse generation and hardware implementation has not been done anywhere before.

This book chapter examines how the evolution of the tourist and hospitality industries has been impacted by digital technologies. Digitalisation makes it possible to implement resilient infrastructure in all applications to achieve sustainability. The hospitality and tourism sector is known to be information-rich due to its diverse commercial interactions with shareholders and constant evolution of managerial processes, modification of tourist and hotel services, advancements in technology and an intensely competitive atmosphere. It has been recognised that growth of tourism and hospitality industry becomes impossible without the applications of modern digital technologies that enable integration and communication, boost service quality and transmit a sizeable amount of information. Abstract
Purpose
The already-strained vaccine supply chain (VSC) of the expanded program for immunization (EPI) require a more robust and structured distribution network for pandemic/outbreak vaccination due to huge volume demand and time constraint. In this paper, a lean-agile-green (LAG) practices approach is proposed to improve the operational, economic and environmental efficiency of the VSC.
Design/methodology/approach
A fuzzy decision framework of importance performance analysis (IPA)–analytical hierarchy process (AHP)–technique for order for preference by similarity in ideal solution (TOPSIS) has been presented in this paper to prioritize the LAG practices on the basis of the influence on performance indicators. Sensitivity analysis is carried out to check the robustness of the presented model.
Findings
The derived result indicates that sustainable packaging, coordination among supply chain stakeholders and cold chain technology improvement are among the top practices affecting most of the performance parameters of VSC. The sensitivity analysis reveals that the priority of practices is highly dependent on the weightage of performance indicators.
Practical implications
This study's finding will help policymakers reframe strategies for sustainable VSC (SVSC) by including new management practices that can handle regular immunization programs as well as emergency mass vaccination.
Originality/value
To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the first study that proposes the LAG framework for SVSC. The IPA–Fuzzy AHP (FAHP)–Fuzyy TOPSIS (FTOPSIS) is also a novel combination in decision-making.
