Abstract
Purpose
The aim of this study was to measure the readiness of science and mathematics supervisors to utilize technology and online learning platforms for teachers' plans and professional development, during and after the period of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Design/methodology/approach
To achieve this aim, the researchers developed a questionnaire comprising of 55 items based on the instruments used in pertinent studies. A mixed-methods research design was employed, whereby a quantitative online survey was supplemented by focus group discussions with selected supervisors. Survey data were subjected to one-way analysis of variance and t-test, while information obtained via focus groups was coded to identify common themes related to the obstacles and challenges supervisors face.
Findings
When completing the survey, the supervisors approached proficiency using technology; however, focus group discussions revealed misconceptions related to e-leaning and limitations in their abilities to use technology in schools, as well as obstacles imposed by the structure and management of the educational system. Practical implications
These findings indicate that supervisors need support in acquiring the competencies required for integrating technology in education, and that their support to teacher community needs to be grounded in clear and systematic approaches and best educational practices.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to examine the impact of halal tourism governance on halal tourist satisfaction by using halal tourism branding as a mediating role to increase tourist satisfaction.
Design/methodology/approach
Data is obtained through a questionnaire completed by 400 tourists who have traveled to visit halal tourism destinations on Madurese Island. The collected research data is tested by using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM).
Findings
The study revealed that halal tourism governance has positive and significant impact on halal tourist satisfaction and halal tourism branding. The study also revealed that halal tourism branding has no positive and significant impact on halal tourist satisfaction because the community thinks that halal tourism branding is common and commonplace.
Research limitations/implications
This research is on an Island-specific halal tourism destination, which means that the findings cannot be generalized to other geographical areas which have diverse cultures.
Practical implications
The study provides insight into halal tourism and destination governance, which is important for marketers, the Ministry of Tourism and local tourism officials to support halal tourism.
Originality/value
This paper fills a gap by presenting the first comprehensive overview of halal tourism governance that enhances ongoing discussions in the halal tourism field.

Case Overview
This case highlights the challenges that Society for Community Outreach and Training (SCOT) faced to be self-sustained in running the operation. SCOT is one of the non-government organizations (NGOs) in Brunei that aims to eradicate poverty in sustainable and creative ways. The founder of SCOT is Anwar Mohammad, one of the recipients of National Youth Leader in Brunei. The other 18 members of SCOT Board of Directors and Executive Committee also consist of youths who are committed in their mission of alleviating poverty in Brunei. Like many other NGOs, SCOT’s activities depend on fund from public or private organizations. One of the obstacles facing NGOs in Brunei including SCOT is the difficulty in obtaining funds for their projects. To be self-sustained, Anwar came up with a project idea named Xchange Project to encourage people to collect recyclable materials and exchange them for basic commodities. He thought this would help build the habit of recycling among Bruneians as well as help those with low income to have an extra source of income.

Abstract
Purpose
The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between social media and libraries in terms of marketing. The present research is to find out the factors and impact as well as the issues related to libraries and marketing using social media. This study will give massive information regarding social media use for the marketing of library sources and services.
Design/methodology/approach
This study so far has been taken into account to review all the related literature of social media and library marketing. All the related literature studies were reviewed according to the suggested objectives of the study.
Findings
The present study reveals after reviewing literature that there is a great impact of social media on libraries. The literature shows that social media is the biggest change in the twenty-firstst century for library professionals and librarians. The reviewed literature studies have discovered that the libraries are facing too many challenges and issues to the adoption of social media for the marketing of library sources and services. The collected and analyzed works of the literature indicated that social media would be the best tool to promote library sources and services.
Research limitations/implications
This research or study can serve the LIS professionals and librarians in the field of library and information science and librarianships that they are looking for the adoption and application of social media in the marketing of library sources and services to the targeted customers.

Abstract
The issue of mental health literacy has been widely studied in developed countries, with few studies conducted in Arab countries. In this study we aimed to investigate mental health literacy and attitudes towards psychiatric patients among students of Jazan University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. A cross-sectional study was conducted among undergraduate students using a validated Arabic-version questionnaire. A total of 557 students were recruited from different Jazan university colleges. The majority of students (90.3%) have intermediate mental health literacy. Regarding the etiology of mental illness, students agreed that genetic inheritance (45.8%), poor quality of life (65%) and social relationship weakness (73.1%) are the main causes of mental illness. The majority thought that mentally ill people are not capable of true friendships (52.5%) and that anyone can suffer from a mental illness (49.4%). Students' attitudes towards psychiatric patients were mixed, with 68.7% reporting that they could maintain a friendship with a mentally ill person and that people with mental illness should have the same rights as anyone else (82.5%). Mental health literacy among university students was intermediate. There is an urgent need for health educational programs to change the attitudes of students regarding this important health issue.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to explore how sustainability practices were implemented in a higher education institution within a local setting in the Gulf and Arab Emirates Region. This study examined the impact of social and cultural requirements on the development of the master plan for the New Kuwait University campus with regards to sustainability to illustrate how current social and cultural requirements impact the design of a future learning environment whilst highlighting the essential role of organisational actors in this implementation process.
Design/methodology/approach
Using an in-depth case study approach, the authors conducted 21 semi-structured interviews with educators and administrative staff who had been involved in the sustainability implementation process at Kuwait University. These participants were involved at different stages in the implementation of a major sustainability project at Kuwait University. The interviews were further supplemented by analysing supporting documents and communications.
Findings
The analysis reveals that sustainability was embedded in a narrative that was repeated at the practice level; this directed the setting of objectives for the project and its various sub-tasks. It also helped actors to develop their understandings of practice and the importance of social emotions, self-intentions and patterns of culture in the process. This study further reveals that participants mainly focused on environmental issues regarding saving paper/electricity and overlooked aspects of a wider concepts and core values of sustainability, and there is a significant amount of lack of knowledge and awareness on matters about sustainability, especially with the understanding of its definition.
Originality/value
This study draws on practice-organisation framework used by Schatzki (2002, 2010), suggesting that sustainability implementation is a process led by rules, practical understanding, general understanding and teleoaffective structures, to highlight the role of agency and change among various actors in implementing sustainability. A practice-theory framing is used to signpost the roles played by various actors in establishing goals and tasks for the project while taking account of local understanding and independence in the implementation of sustainability practices. Engaging with practice theory framework offers us theoretical basis that is fundamentally different from the theories of interaction-oriented approaches in sustainable design.

Purpose
Quality in the construction industry is an important issue yet ignored during the initial stages of the life cycle of a project, that is, the design and construction stage. The contribution of stakeholders, especially the architects is generally suspended though it has huge significance in terms of cost and time related to quality. This research endeavors to examine the issues related to the design and construction stages of the project from architects' purview, to understand the relative importance of these issues in the Indian construction industry.
Design/methodology/approach
The study of qualitative data conducted formed a basis for online quantitative data collection that was further analyzed with the help of cross-tabulation and multiple correspondence analysis methods.
Findings
The study concludes that the budget of a project is a corresponding factor related to quality concern for architects. The study also established that the quality issues corresponding to high budgets are closely related to the construction stage and are identified as preparation of checklist, and bidding process of hiring the contractor on the lowest bid.
Research limitations/implications
The study is limited to analyzing the perspective of architects; however, other stakeholders of the construction industry may represent a different opinion.
Practical implications
This research emphasizes the importance of the client's role, and need for integration and coordination among stakeholders in the construction industry for effective quality control and management.
Originality/value
The research presents an exhaustive literature review on quality issues and its importance with respect to cost implications, standard practices, sustainability and the life cycle of the project.

Purpose
Data envelopment analysis (DEA) calculates the efficiency of a business unit if all the inputs are creating outputs within a “black box.” Under traditional DEA, the detailed process of that business unit is ignored. However, a network DEA can explain the black box structure and provide efficiency results for sub-sections within any business process. This study aims to propose a network DEA model that explains a bank's total operation.
Design/methodology/approach
Earlier studies have focused only on bank efficiency ignoring this breakdown. This study departs from them by using a slack-based two-stage network DEA under a novel banking business perspective.
Findings
The results reveal that network DEA provides better benchmarking insights than the traditional DEA. As such, better benchmarking can guide both the banking industry managers and policy makers in Bangladesh.
Originality/value
The major contribution of this study includes dividing a bank's total operation efficiency into two sub-operations: “core operations – collecting deposits and giving loans” and “additional operations – fees, commissions and other services.”

Abstract
Purpose
The fact that Islamic banking in Indonesia held only a 7% market share in 2023 is ironic, considering that Indonesia has the largest Muslim population in the world. Beyond differences in ethnicity, race and religious understanding, Indonesia’s sociopolitical diversity also presents an intriguing study area about consumer decisions to use financial services. This study aims to investigate the influence of sociopolitical identity on attitudes and intentions to participate in Islamic banking in Indonesia using the theory of reasoned action as a basis.
Design/methodology/approach
This study used SEM-PLS to investigate the intention to participate in Islamic banking among Muslim communities in Indonesia. Its focus on prediction and theory building aligns perfectly with the objectives of this study, making it the most appropriate methodological choice. The sample used in this study comprised 343 respondents. The structural model was used to test the relationship between intention to participate in Islamic banking and religiosity, subjective norms, attitudes and sociopolitical identity, with reputation as mediation.
Findings
This study found that three variables significantly affect the intention to participate in Islamic banks: attitude (AT), reputation (RP) and subjective norms (SN). Sociopolitical identity (SP) and religiosity (RE) do not have a direct effect. However, sociopolitical identity (SP), attitudes (AT) and religiosity (RE) have been proven to have an indirect impact through reputation (RP) as mediation, and only subjective norms (SN) have not.
Practical implications
This study implies that Islamic banking needs to consider non-marketing aspects because, based on its findings, non-marketing factors such as sociopolitical identity and religiosity have been proven to influence the intention to participate in Islamic banking in Indonesia.
Originality/value
This study’s respondents were two Muslim communities in Indonesia with the largest mass and assets, namely, Nahdhatul Ulama and Muhammadiyah. The inclusion of non-marketing aspects, such as sociopolitical identity, in the research model added value, which is still rarely researched.
