Abstract
CIM (Computer Integrated Manufacturing) is usually viewed as a vast and complex undertaking which only the General Motors of this world can afford. This article puts forward a simple CIM strategy based on a building block approach using UNIX (the industry standard hardware independent computer operating system). This approach ensures companies start with systems they can afford and also manage. Risks are decreased, small companies too can now build their own CIM strategies. UNIX's great strength is portability and flexibility: companies can start with basic MRP systems and build upon those, integrating at will the more specific elements of CIM as they are needed. The suitability of UNIX for this “mix and match” approach is examined. No longer is there any need to be locked in to one hardware or software supplier. Competitive edge too is improved as the manufacturer can respond quickly to the fluctuating nature of the consumer market. As new products are required, new computer control systems can easily be integrated with the core system.

Abstract
Purpose
The use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) has significantly increased in the past decade and nowadays is being used for various purposes such as image processing, cargo transport, archaeology, agriculture, manufacturing, health care, surveillance and inspections. For this reason, using the appropriate image processing method for the intended use of UAVs increases the study’s success. This study aims to determine the most suitable one among the innovative methods that constitute the image processing system for a UAV to be used for surveillance purposes.
Design/methodology/approach
Analytical hierarchy process has been used in the solution of the decision problem to be handled in three stages, namely, platform, architecture and method. The most suitable alternative and the effect weights of these criteria results were determined at each stage.
Findings
As a result of this study, Jetson TX2 was determined as the most suitable embedded platform, ResNet is the optimum architecture and Faster R-convolutional neural networks was the best method in the image processing layer for a system that will provide surveillance with image processing method using UAV.
Practical implications
In UAV designs, where multiple hardware and software choices and system combinations exist, multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) approaches can be used as a system decision mechanism.
Originality/value
The novelty of this work comes from the application of MCDM methods that are used as a multi-layered decision mechanism in UAV design.

Abstract
Purpose
Computed tomography (CT) scan can provide valuable information in the diagnosis of lung diseases. To detect the location of the cancerous lung nodules, this work uses novel deep learning methods. The majority of the early investigations used CT, magnetic resonance and mammography imaging. Using appropriate procedures, the professional doctor in this sector analyses these images to discover and diagnose the various degrees of lung cancer. All of the methods used to discover and detect cancer illnesses are time-consuming, expensive and stressful for the patients. To address all of these issues, appropriate deep learning approaches for analyzing these medical images, which included CT scan images, were utilized.
Design/methodology/approach
Radiologists currently employ chest CT scans to detect lung cancer at an early stage. In certain situations, radiologists' perception plays a critical role in identifying lung melanoma which is incorrectly detected. Deep learning is a new, capable and influential approach for predicting medical images. In this paper, the authors employed deep transfer learning algorithms for intelligent classification of lung nodules. Convolutional neural networks (VGG16, VGG19, MobileNet and DenseNet169) are used to constrain the input and output layers of a chest CT scan image dataset.
Findings
The collection includes normal chest CT scan pictures as well as images from two kinds of lung cancer, squamous and adenocarcinoma impacted chest CT scan images. According to the confusion matrix results, the VGG16 transfer learning technique has the highest accuracy in lung cancer classification with 91.28% accuracy, followed by VGG19 with 89.39%, MobileNet with 85.60% and DenseNet169 with 83.71% accuracy, which is analyzed using Google Collaborator.
Originality/value
The proposed approach using VGG16 maximizes the classification accuracy when compared to VGG19, MobileNet and DenseNet169. The results are validated by computing the confusion matrix for each network type.

Abstract
Scholars have begun calling for broader conceptualisations of moral disengagement processes that reflect the interaction of dispositional and situational antecedents to a predilection to morally disengage. The authors argue that collective leadership may be one such contingent antecedent. While researching leaders from the Gilded Age of American business history, the authors encountered a compelling historical case that facilitates theory elaboration within these intersecting domains. Interpreting evidence from the embittered leader dyad of Andrew Carnegie and Henry Clay Frick, the authors show how leader egoism can permeate moral identity to promote symbolic moral self-regard and moral licensing, which augment a propensity to morally disengage. The authors use insights developed from our analysis to illustrate a process conceptualisation that reflects a dispositional and situational interaction as a precursor to moral disengagement and explains how collective leadership can function as a moral disengagement trigger/tool to reduce cognitive dissonance and support the cognitive, behavioural, and rhetorical processes utilised to justify unethical behaviour.

This wealth of material poses problems for the researcher in management studies — and, of course, for the librarian: uncovering what has been written in any one area is not an easy task. This volume aims to help the librarian and the researcher overcome some of the immediate problems of identification of material. It is an annotated bibliography of management, drawing on the wide variety of literature produced by MCB University Press. Abstract
Purpose
Gambling is increasingly a global phenomenon, derided by some as exploitative and viewed by others as entertainment. Despite extensive research into gambling motivations, previous research has not assessed whether gaming choice is a function of one’s personal motivations or simply a desire to gamble in general, regardless of game choice among recreational gamblers. The purpose of this study is to explore this theme by considering “illusion of control” where luck and skill may moderate gambling motivation.
Design/methodology/approach
This study applies two motivation theories, hedonic consumption theory and motivation disposition theory, and examines heuristic perspectives related to gambling. Three stages of qualitative data collection were undertaken.
Findings
The findings indicate that for recreational gamblers, gaming choice is a function of personal motives. Hence, gamblers chose games that reflect their needs or motives, focusing on the game or games that best allow them to achieve their goals and desires.
Research limitations/implications
These findings shed light on an important topic and include an in-depth examination of recreational gamblers’ motivations. Further quantitative examinations should be considered.
Practical implications
This research could be used by practitioners or researchers in better segmenting the casino recreational gambling market.
Originality/value
While many researchers have examined gambling motivations and even gambling motivations by venue (e.g. casino versus online), few researchers have focused on gamblers’ choice of games and even fewer have studied recreational gamblers’ motivations with a qualitatively rich approach, resulting in some useful perspectives on drivers of recreational gamblers by personal motives.
