Abstract
Purpose
In this paper, the authors aim to show how to apply the reduced basis method to the transport equations of a lithium-ion battery.
Design/methodology/approach
The authors consider a coupled system of nonlinear parameterized partial differential equations (P2DEs), which models the concentrations and the potentials in lithium-ion batteries.
Findings
The authors develop an efficient reduced basis approach for the fast and robust numerical solution of the P2DE system.
Originality/value
By the reduced basis method, the authors get (reduced) solutions with a speed up factor of up to 18 in the presented examples in comparison to the original finite volume solutions.

Abstract
Purpose
The aim of this paper is to present a research approach that can contribute to a sustainable development of urban spaces for sports and physical activity, comprising theoretical reflections and directions for applied research.
Design/methodology/approach
This research builds on an urban real-world lab in a city district. It is based on principles of transdisciplinary research and intense processes of participation.
Findings
Five projects with regard to sport and physical activity development were implemented. The projects resulted in exchange and learning of citizens and other stakeholders as well as transformations of the social and built environment.
Research limitations/implications
Instead of top-down research and planning this approach enables bottom-up processes in which affected citizens and stakeholders can contribute to sport and physical activity development.
Practical implications
The approach can help to integrate sport and physical activity development and transformative processes of sustainable development in urban areas.
Social implications
Through participation and involvement, citizens can be empowered and social capital can be generated.
Originality/value
Urban real-world labs are a new approach for sport and physical activity development. This approach opens up the possibility to include sport and physical activity development in processes of city development. Hence, urban real-world labs are able to address an integrated urban and sport development process and can be used for city marketing purposes.

Abstract
Purpose
In the present paper we assess the impact of the Eurozone’s economic policies on specific South-Eastern European countries, namely Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Romania, Slovenia, and Turkey.
Design/methodology/approach
Since the countries under investigation are connected to the European Union (EU) or the Eurozone and the economic interdependence among them is evolving, we carried out our analysis using the VECMX* framework.
Findings
Our results indicate that the transition economies in our sample react in a similar manner to changes in international macroeconomic policies. Cyprus and Greece react also in a similar way, but these responses are very small in magnitude. Finally, Turkey behaves in a different way, probably due to the inflationary pressures in its economy. In general, there is evidence of linkages and interdependence among the EU or Eurozone members of the region.
Research limitations/implications
We did not construct a full structural model proposed by economic theory, but instead we estimated a reduced-form model. Data limitation is one reason. The other reason is that our sample countries are extremely heterogeneous. Also, for most of the sample countries there is an acute problem of structural uncertainty of their economies yet.
Practical implications
The way that the economies under investigation react to changes in international macroeconomic policies, may influence the Eurozone policy makers regarding the implemented monetary policy.
Originality/value
To our knowledge, the above methodology is implemented for the first time in the sample countries and provides a detailed investigation regarding their economic policies and the effects of the Eurozone policies.

Abstract
This paper advocates an innovative approach to help leadership students analyze, capture, and remember the nature of their authentic leadership. This developmental activity was inspired by the Japanese film, Wandâfuru raifu (After Life) (Kore-Eda, Sato, & Shigenobu, 1998), in which the recently deceased are asked to recall and relate a memory that symbolizes all that is important to them. After this memory is replayed to them the recently deceased move on to the afterlife and keep the memory prominent in their minds for eternity. This activity is applied to authentic leadership by asking leadership students to recall their family, personal, and work histories as they relate to their leadership. To bring this activity up to date and into the real world, the students are asked to tell their story directly to a camera in front of a green screen. In postproduction, images related to the students’ stories are keyed in to replace the green screen thereby creating powerful memories of the factors influencing the students’ authentic leadership. This new technique is proposed as an integrative and memorable activity that captures and synthesizes insights from other authentic leadership exercises while focusing on the actionable lessons. Viewing of the film prior to the teaching event offers the additional benefit of creating an atmosphere of quiet contemplation and reflection in students’ minds.

Abstract
Reviews 149 business‐to‐consumer (B2C) Web sites in nine countries and across five industries. One wanted to identify patterns that would allow one to draw conclusions about why companies chose to display data privacy policies on their Web sites. Presents an overview of the impact of business forces, telecommunications infrastructure, and culture on B2C Web site development. Having examined these sites, it is believed that the level of sophistication and development of a company’s Web site plays a role in whether a data privacy policy is displayed on the site. It was concluded that data privacy policies are more commonly found on B2C Web sites in countries where: consumers have greater access to and experience of using the Web, and there is an established market economy with clear business laws. These sites have a greater tendency to disclose detailed and conspicuously positioned policies to consumers about how their personal data will be used.
