Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to investigate international students’ perception and satisfaction towards Turkish universities’ service quality.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper used modified version of SERVQUAL questionnaire for education purpose to collect data. Data were collected from 168 international students studying in public and private universities in Turkey.
Findings
Based on findings of this study, there is negative gap between perception and expectation for all 35 items in questionnaire among international students.
Practical implications
This study adds on educational service quality literature in developing country, specifically in Turkey. Additionally, decision-makers, institutions, etc. can use findings of this study to overcome the dissatisfactions and difficulties faced by international students in Turkey.
Originality/value
This study fulfills identified need to study international students’ perception and satisfaction towards Turkish universities.

Case overview
“The Misadventures of Amy and Azi” case presents a brief historical perspective of two partners' venture into the aerobic and fitness industry. The case discusses the partners' foray into the business world armed with great determination and a one year business plan but without proper understanding of the operational requirements of running a business. Though successful in the launching of the first studio, the initial success had blinded the vision of one of the partners, Azi who wanted to open another branch quickly. After a few months of operation, they realized that the second studio was a failure and had sapped the profit from the first centre. To make matter worse, the two partners are stuck with the second studio and have to find another premise for the first studio due to short-sightedness when signing the rental agreement.
Expected learning outcomes
The case study enables the students to: understand the current business environment of fitness industry in Malaysia, appreciate the need for proper planning and control in starting a business, to be aware of the importance of understanding legal implications in starting a business, the need to conduct proper market research before starting and to understand multi-cultural and multi-religion issues in Malaysia.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to explore the relationship of horizontal violence, organizational cynicism and turnover intention in the nursing profession.
Design/methodology/approach
A quantitative approach was utilized and 870 questionnaires were distributed to collect data from nursing staff working in Punjab region of Pakistan by using non-probability multistage sampling technique. A total of 711 questionnaires were returned, out of which, 668 questionnaires were scrutinized. Additionally, confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling were applied to analyze the data.
Findings
The results revealed an insignificant mediating effect of organizational cynicism between the relationship of horizontal violence and turnover intention.
Research limitations/implications
The current study has adopted a multistage non-probability sampling technique to collect data because the management of hospitals restricted researcher access to personal information about the nurses. Therefore, at the first stage, the researcher used convenience sampling and at the second stage, the researcher utilized quota sampling to collect the data. Moreover, the findings of the current study are based on cross-sectional data because of the limited time and resources.
Practical implications
The current study fosters the ongoing debate in organizational studies related to cynicism, and it is noteworthy for the nursing managers to understand the significant factors which directly or indirectly affect the nursing attitude.
Originality/value
The current study explored the mediating role of organizational cynicism between horizontal violence and turnover intention to fill the research gap.

Abstract
Purpose
The study aims to explore how lean research and development (R&D) tools and techniques (T&T: i.e. R&D hard practices) affect the relationship between lean R&D soft practices and organization performance within R&D-based manufacturing firms in Malaysia.
Design/methodology/approach
The current study is a quantitative study that utilized an online survey questionnaire for data collection. Data were collected based on a cross-sectional survey of R&D managers from 102 R&D-based manufacturing firms in Malaysia. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to test the impact of lean R&D soft and hard practices on firms' performance.
Findings
As per the study findings, it was determined that T&T of lean R&D was significant mediator in the relationship between lean R&D soft practices (i.e. managerial practices, transformational leadership, financial capability and supplier involvement) and R&D firms' performance.
Practical implications
The study delivers an important message to R&D companies that lean practices could be applied in R&D environments to drive organization performance.
Originality/value
The study extends the knowledge regarding lean principles and framework beyond the domains of production and services. The study offers new conceptual contribution in term of lean principles and framework in R&D environments by introducing the role of lean R&D tools and technique to enhance the effects of lean R&D practices on organization performance.

Abstract
Purpose
Over the years, increased level of deviant behavior among the employees of public sector organizations has been observed. The situation is worst in the public healthcare sector of Pakistan, where numerous incidents of employee deviant behavior have been reported recently. This scenario is compelling scholars and practitioners to find appropriate solutions to address this issue. As previous literature lacks empirical evidence regarding the role of ethical leadership in establishing an ethical climate in order to minimize workplace deviance in the public healthcare sector. Thus, to fill this gap, the purpose of this paper is to investigate the effect of organizational ethical climate as a mediator in the relationship between ethical leadership and workplace deviance in public healthcare sector of Pakistan.
Design/methodology/approach
This study employed survey strategy, using quantitative method with a cross-sectional research design, and with multi-stage sampling technique. Two hundred and eighty nine usable questionnaires were collected from doctors and nurses. Further, Structural Equation Modeling was conducted in order to test the hypothesized model and determine the direct and indirect effects.
Findings
Results of this study revealed that ethical leadership negatively influenced workplace deviance. Ethical leadership was further found to have a positive effect on ethical climate. Moreover, the ethical climate had a negative relationship with workplace deviance. Finally, ethical climate mediated the relationship between ethical leadership and workplace deviance.
Originality/value
This study identified the significance of ethical leadership behavior which assists in establishing an ethical organizational climate leading towards less likelihood of the emergence of workplace deviance.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to validate the corporate environmental citizenship measurement originally developed by Banerjee (2002) in the Malaysian setting.
Design/methodology/approach
A systematic sampling technique was used, with a total of 251 responses. The measurement was tested using content validity, convergent validity and discriminant validity.
Findings
The study finds that all four dimensions are highly suited for measuring corporate environmental citizenship in the construction companies in Malaysia.
Research limitations/implications
The study uses a single respondent to report on the organization’s corporate environmental citizenship. The perceptions among the respondents may differ.
Practical implications
Organizations can use the measurement for benchmarking current levels of organizations’ environmental degradation as well as identify which business areas are in need to improve environmental preservation.
Social implications
This study theoretically conceptualized corporate environmental citizenship as a multidimensional construct containing four dimensions.
Originality/value
This study contributes to the body of knowledge by validating corporate environmental citizenship measurement in the Malaysian context as measurement validation studies are scarcely found.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to examine the factors that drive students to use Facebook for educational communication and explore the impact of Facebook use for educational communication on perceived academic achievement.
Design/methodology/approach
A survey was conducted through a self-administered questionnaire to collect data from student Facebook users at a large technology and engineering university in Malaysia. Partial least squares path modeling was used to test the hypotheses in the research model.
Findings
This empirical study showed that Facebook use in educational communication is determined by subjective norms and purposive value. Facebook use in educational communication positively affected perceived academic achievement.
Practical implications
The findings provide useful insight for higher institutions and educators regarding the potential academic effects of integrating Facebook into higher education learning. Moreover, this study provides insight into the factors that drive Facebook use in educational communication.
Originality/value
Prior studies have largely investigated the determinants and the effects of Facebook use among university students. However, little research has focused on educational communication phenomena. This study investigated determinants and academic achievement effect of Facebook use in educational communication among university students.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to propose a reciprocal peer review approach that resembled the scholarly peer review process using the Moodle e-learning system. The authors investigated interrelations among engagement in providing peer feedback, engagement in responding to peer feedback, learner-content interaction and learning outcomes.
Design/methodology/approach
An experimental intervention study was designed. A total of 45 students who enroled in an undergraduate research methods course completed the assigned project. Reciprocal peer review was adopted, in which the participants provided a peer review report on a randomly assigned peer’s research proposal. Subsequently, participants revised and submitted their proposal along with a response letter that highlighted the revisions.
Findings
This study highlights that the engagement in providing peer feedback exerts an indirect effect on learning outcomes through learner-content interaction. Learner-content interaction fully mediates the causal relationship between engagement in providing peer feedback and learning outcomes.
Practical implications
Learner-content interaction fully mediates the causal relationship between engagement in providing peer feedback and learning outcomes. Thus, e-learning practitioners who engage in peer review should first construct high-quality course materials to enhance learning outcomes.
Originality/value
Learning outcomes can be enhanced if there is a high level of engagement in providing peer feedback among learners. However, learner-content interaction fully mediates the positive effect of engagement in providing peer feedback on learning outcomes. Furthermore, engagement in providing peer feedback will enhance the learner’s motivation to intensify his or her learning from the course material.

Case Overview
This case illustrates the application of green human resource management (HRM) practices that are inevitable for Malaysian manufacturing firms to mitigate the imbalance between economic and environmental performance. Over the past 12 years, the environmental performance has significantly declined based on data reported by environmental performance index (EPI). This dramatic decline has caused imbalance between economic and environmental performance impacting sustainability of Malaysian manufacturing firms. Among the challenges faced by many manufacturing firms are lacking environmental control, inability to understand and apply green HRM practices, aligning green HRM strategy to firm’s strategy and environmental objectives, educating its existing employees on green HRM, measuring the outcomes of green HRM practices, and changing the existing traditional HRM practices to green HRM practices. This case sheds light on the implication of ISO14001 certification among Malaysian manufacturing firms registered with Federation of Manufacturing Malaysia (FMM) 2015 in addressing this issue.
