Argues that if marketers seriously want to find opportunities for new products, they need two things: (1) insightful analysis and data interpretation, and (2) a willingness to break new ground, a determination to be different, and a commitment to be a winner. Examines a number of recent demographic and technological trends to demonstrate how they can mislead marketers.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to propose a nonlinear model for aeroelastic aircraft that can predict the flight parameters throughout the investigated flight envelopes.
Design/methodology/approach
A system identification method based on the support vector machine (SVM) is developed and applied to the nonlinear dynamics of an aeroelastic aircraft. In the proposed non-parametric gray-box method, force and moment coefficients are estimated based on the state variables, flight conditions and control commands. Then, flight parameters are estimated using aircraft equations of motion. Nonlinear system identification is performed using the SVM network by minimizing errors between the calculated and estimated force and moment coefficients. To that end, a least squares algorithm is used as the training rule to optimize the generalization bound given for the regression.
Findings
The results confirm that the SVM is successful at the aircraft system identification. The precision of the SVM model is preserved when the models are excited by input commands different from the training ones. Also, the generalization of the SVM model is acceptable at non-trained flight conditions within the trained flight conditions. Considering the precision and generalization of the model, the results indicate that the SVM is more successful than the well-known methods such as artificial neural networks.
Practical implications
In this paper, both the simulated and real flight data of the F/A-18 aircraft are used to provide aeroelastic models for its lateral-directional dynamics.
Originality/value
This paper proposes a non-parametric system identification method for aeroelastic aircraft based on the SVM method for the first time. Up to the author’s best knowledge, the SVM is not used for the aircraft system identification or the aircraft parameter estimation until now.

Abstract
Teams in organizations have weekly – or even daily – meetings to exchange information, generate ideas, solve problems, and make decisions. Yet, many team meetings are described as ineffective by the participants, due to either their design or dysfunctional communication practices within the meeting. To gain new insights into addressing these issues, this chapter goes back deep in history and discusses the origins and functions of group meetings. Building upon evolutionary theories of human behavior, the authors examine the evolutionary significance of meetings and the ways in which they were adaptive for our human ancestors. Drawing from this evolutionary perspective, we then compare meetings in ancestral times with their modern-day counterparts. Using evidence from (a) ethnographic studies of small-scale societies that model ancestral group life and (b) organizational and team science, we contrast the typical workplace meeting with its ancient counterpart. In this review of ancient and modern meetings, we identify meeting characteristics that have been maintained through time as well as those that are unique/new in the modern time. In doing so, we inspect to what extent meeting practices in ancestral environments are aligned or at odds with meeting practices in contemporary organizations (the notion of mismatch). From these similarities and differences, we derive novel theoretical insights for the study of workplace meetings as well as suggestions for improving contemporary meeting practice. We also include a series of testable propositions that can inform future research on team meetings in organizations.

Purpose
This paper aims to provide scholars with a deep understanding of the field through the identification of strengths and weaknesses in the literature and support decision-makers in the development of new practices in local risk management based on scientific data. The specific question in this review asks: what are the drivers and barriers to local risk management?
Design/methodology/approach
This paper provides an overview of the scientific literature produce over the past 20 years of the divers and barriers to local risk management. This paper presents a scoping review of peer-reviewed articles published between 2000 and 2019 inclusively in the fields of public policy and public administration.
Findings
This paper makes three main observations regarding the state of the literature. First, this paper finds that scholars mainly focus on single risk and certain regions of the world. Second, there is multiple approached used by the literature to study risk management at the local level. Third, little attention is given to the political context in which local risk management takes place.
Originality/value
This paper is a complete literature review of more than 500 peer-reviewed articles published in academic journals regarding risk prevention policies over the past two decades. This paper analyzed the main findings of the current literature to provide a general view of the scholarship and improve the collective understanding of risk management at the local level by providing future research avenues.

Cross-cultural mergers and acquisitions (M&As) can generate the number of negative feelings and emotions among the survivors of the deal. These negative outcomes can range from lowered commitment, lack of productivity, and talent loss to the more serious work alienation. Hence, this chapter is an attempt to identify the employees’ level of commitment and their feelings of alienation in the post-M&A integration phase. Also, provided training has proven to be important in building employee commitment and mitigating the feelings of alienation, this studies the relationship of these psychological outcomes with the different kinds of training provided to them during post-M&A situations. The vast literature review studied revealed a significant relationship between employees’ perceived effectiveness of training and their level of commitment with the newly merged firm, while an inverse relationship was found with employees’ feelings of alienation. This chapter has crucial implications for researchers and practitioners.

Purpose
The purpose of this study is to develop an active controller of both leading-edge (LE) and trailing-edge (TE) control surfaces for an unmanned air vehicle (UAV) with a composite morphing wing.
Design/methodology/approach
Instead of conventional hinged control surfaces, both LE and TE seamless control surfaces were integrated with the wing. Based on the longitudinal state space equation, the root locus plot of the morphing wing aircraft, with a stability augmented system, was constructed. Using the pole placement, the feedback gain matrix for an active control was obtained.
Findings
The aerodynamic benefits of a morphing wing section are compared with a wing of a rigid control surface. However, the 3D morphing wing with a large sweptback angle produces a washout negative aeroelastic effect, which causes a significant reduction of the control effectiveness. The results show that the stability augmentation system can significantly improve the longitudinal controllability of an aircraft with a morphing wing.
Practical implications
This study is necessary to analyse the effect of a morphing wing on an UAV and perform a comparison with the rigid model.
Originality/value
The control surfaces assignment plan for trim, pitch and roll control was obtained. An active control algorism for the morphing wing was created to satisfy the required stability and control effectiveness by operating the LE and TE control surfaces according to flight conditions. The aeroelastic effect of control derivatives on the morphing aircraft was considered.
