Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to discuss current work and further steps of the psychological hotline launched by the National Psychological Association of Ukraine (NPA), along with a call for action to mental health professionals worldwide.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper describes the training and support of the NPA’s hotline staff as well as reflections on the hotline’s work from June 2022 to April 2023.
Findings
With broad international support, the NPA’s psychological hotline currently operates in 21 countries providing psychological assistance and referrals to other service providers within Ukraine and abroad. The authors propose further steps of its work, including international collaboration.
Originality/value
Providing citizens of Ukraine with broad public access to evidence-based remote psychological support through NPA’s hotlines is a high priority considering the war’s negative impact on mental health diverse and the limited capacity of the state mental health system.

Abstract
Purpose
An inductor for the uniform heating of the extremity of a ferromagnetic steel tube for stress relieving is considered. The main goal of the study is to investigate the possibility to achieve a reasonable design of the inductor when dealing with many design variables.
Design/methodology/approach
Genetic optimization algorithms are used for this purpose, demonstrating the applicability of these techniques to the design of induction heating inductors. Genetic algorithms provide to the designer several optimal solutions belonging to Pareto Front, and this way they allow choosing the solution that better fits the technological requirements. In any case, the designer has to adapt the chosen solution to fit in with the real possibilities in industrial application.
Findings
The study demonstrates that automatic optimization methods may help the designer of the induction heating system to solve complex problems with very conflicting technological requirements.
Originality/value
In the paper, a problem with a high number of design variables is solved. Moreover, the goals of the optimization process are strongly conflicting, and the proposed problem is a challenging one.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to describe main ideas and demonstrate results of the research activities carried out by the authors in the field of design concepts of induction mass heating technology based on multiple-criteria optimization. The main goal of the studies is the application of different optimization methods and numerical finite element method (FEM) codes for field analysis to solve the multi-objective optimization problem that is mathematically formulated in terms of the most important optimization criteria, for example, maximum temperature uniformity, maximum energy efficiency and minimum scale formation.
Design/methodology/approach
Standard genetic algorithm (GA), non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA) and alternance method of parametric optimization based on the optimal control theory are applied as effective tools for the practice-oriented problems for multiple-criteria optimization of induction heaters’ design based on non-linear coupled electromagnetic and temperature field analysis. Different approaches are used for combining FEM codes for interconnected field analysis and optimization algorithms into the automated optimization procedure.
Findings
Optimization procedures are tested and investigated for two- and three-criteria optimization problems solution on the examples of induction heating of a graphite disk, induction heating of aluminum and steel billets prior to hot forming.
Practical implications
Solved problems are based on the design of practical industrial applications. The developed optimization procedures are planned to be applied to the wide range of real-life problems of the optimal design and control of different electromagnetic devices and systems.
Originality/value
The paper describes main ideas and results of the research activities carried out by the authors during past years in the field of multiple-criteria optimization of induction heaters’ design based on numerical coupled electromagnetic and temperature field analysis. Implementing the automated procedure that combines a numerical FEM code for coupled field analysis with an optimization algorithm and its subsequent application for designing induction heaters makes the proposed approach specific and original. The paper also demonstrates that different optimization strategies used (standard GA, NSGA-II and the alternance method of optimal control theory) are effective for real-life industrial applications for multiple-criteria optimization of induction heaters design.

In the research studies, standard genetic algorithm (GA), non-dominated sorting GA (NSGA-II), migration NSGA algorithm and alternance method of optimal control theory are discussed and compared.
Findings
The test practical problems of multi-criteria optimization of induction heating processes with respect to chosen quality criteria confirm the effectiveness of application of considered MOO approaches both for the problems of design and control.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to contribute to the current literature on consumer acceptance of cultured meat and to investigate the main factors that might affect it.
Design/methodology/approach
Data were collected from a sample of 490 consumers in Italy, using a web-based survey. The empirical analysis follows an exploratory approach based on the training and checking of a random forest model.
Findings
An important finding of this study concerns the overall positive perception of cultured meat on the part of the interviewees in a country that is the fifth-largest meat producer at the European level. Age, environmental and ethical issues, and scepticism about new food technologies are the most important factors that guide consumer acceptance of cultured meat. The results suggest that in order to increase cultured meat acceptance it would be important to inform and educate consumers towards new food and new food production methods.
Research limitations/implications
The sample analysed in this study is not representative of the whole national population, as it happens in most papers dealing with new food.
Originality/value
Although the conclusions of this exploratory study cannot be over-generalized, the results provide interesting insights on how to increase cultured meat acceptance in view of the possible development of a new market for cultured meat.

Purpose
Although a need for innovative approaches to the strategic management of human resources (HR) has been identified, many firms continue to rely solely on their HR information systems instead of adapting to the digital consumer with innovative tools and digital HR management (d-HRM). This research aims to evaluate critically the degree of digital innovation of HR practices in the Irish hotel industry.
Methodology/approach
For this qualitative study, a total of 10 semi-structured interviews were conducted with key personnel at both corporate and property level HR in the two largest Irish hotel groups.
Findings
Findings show an overall lack of technological innovation and most of the principal HR activities are digitalised to a very limited extent. In addition, the perception of the degree of digitalisation varies significantly between the managers in both organisations.
Practical and social implications
In order to attract digital natives and to increase their competitiveness within the sector, Irish hotel corporations will need to invest significantly in innovation within their HR departments to capitalise on the strategic and operational advantages of d-HRM. Thus, a more strategic approach towards HR innovation is needed.
Originality/value
This chapter operationalises the concept of HR innovation in the context of the hotel industry; it analyses the key HR activities in hotel operations with regard to the extent to which they are digitalised; and it develops a model of HR digitalisation that can be applied to the hotel and other industries. This research, therefore, contributes to the existing body of knowledge on HR innovation with a specific focus on the hotel industry.

Abstract
This study concerns how well stock market regulators prevent trading by using trading halts when they suspect asymmetric information in the market. Security trading halts in the Portuguese stock market are analysed to measure the effectiveness of trading halts imposed by market authorities as well as their timing in interrupting and restarting trading. Stock price returns, abnormal returns and volatility are used to compare the significance of differences for pre‐and post‐halt periods. First the global sample is used to analyse abnormal returns and then it is split into good and bad news halts. A GARCH (1,1) model is also applied and found to be a more sensitive instrument on justifying trading halts. Justification for trading halts tends to rise as event window size increases, suggesting that supervisory authorities tend to spot the dominant changes better. In fact, when very short time‐sampling periods are used weaker justifications for stock halting are found. The opportunity for market authorities to interrupt trading seems to be increasing. In terms of timing they seem, on the whole, to be delayed when imposing trading halts or anticipated when authorising the restart. Nevertheless, when considering good news, although the halt tends to be late the restart seems to be on time. It is concluded that all methodologies should be jointly applied by stock watch departments of supervision authorities for detecting trading under asymmetric information, but special attention is drawn to GARCH methodologies that show superior ability for detecting changes in stock characteristics.

Abstract
Purpose
The main purpose of this paper is to explore innovative ideas for a sustainable fashion supply chain in the future by focusing on investigating the impacts of COVID-19 on the fashion supply chain and review sustainable supply chain.
Design/methodology/approach
A systematic literature review (SLR) and a case study have been undertaken to explore the innovative ideas for a sustainable fashion supply chain developed after the COVID-19 outbreak. Having conducted a comprehensive literature search in electronic databases Google Scholar, Emerald Insight, ScienceDirect and ProQuest, 69 articles were selected and reviewed. A case of the Kering Group was used to explain the results.
Findings
This paper highlighted the basic concepts of a sustainable supply chain, reviewed the 10 principles of the United Nation Global Compact and their connections to promoting supply chain sustainability, as well as the three components of a sustainable supply chain: green supply chain, transparent supply chain and circular supply chain. Based on the results of a SLR and a real case of Kering Group, the paper identified 12 innovative ideas for a sustainable fashion supply chain: (1) biodegradable and natural materials, (2) textile recycling, (3) nearshoring, (4) artificial intelligence (AI), (5) robot, (6) 3D printing, (7) Internet of Things, (8) blockchain, (9) reverse resources; (10) bio-packaging, (11) augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) and (12) digital runway.
Research limitations/implications
The epidemiological situations of the COVID-19 pandemic and the corresponding innovative ideas for a sustainable supply chain may change over time. While this paper provides a comprehensive literature review and case study, further research is needed to evaluate the effectiveness of current efforts in the development of a sustainable fashion supply chain through collecting both quantitative and qualitative data.
Practical implications
Embracing the issues from the COVID-19 pandemic, the results of this study are further explained by the case of Kering Group in the fashion industry. The managerial implications of the results and discussion are the need to adopt innovative ideas for a more sustainable fashion supply chain in the future. The success of sustainable supply chains work by leveraging the best available technologies such as robot, 3D printing, AR and VR, setting consistent standards for sustainability such as Environmental Profit and Loss and Kering & Textile Exchange and communicating with all parties throughout the supply chain, such as blockchain and AI. Investment in developing technology and innovative ideas will be the key of future to supply chain sustainability. Nonetheless, the specific approach used by each organization must be tailored to its characteristics, goals and circumstances.
Social implications
Bringing upon unprecedented challenges, the pandemic has shown both companies and consumers just how fragile our planet is. Thus, to protect our planet in the long run, we need to not only make businesses more sustainable but also live more eco-friendly lifestyles.
Originality/value
To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first work that conducts a systemic review of the relevant academic journal articles addressed to the managerial audience on sustainable (fashion) supply chain. In addition, this paper also adds some consideration to this gap by exploring the innovative ideas for a sustainable fashion supply chain in the future and using a case to illustrate how these ideas can be put in a real-life context. This paper discusses the impact of COVID-19 on different stages of the supply chain and gives innovative ideas that can be used in response to the changing epidemiological situations of the pandemic.

Abstract
Purpose
The transverse flux heating (TFH) concept offers very high electrical efficiency in combination with unique technological flexibility. Numerous advantages make this method beyond competition to be applied in e.g. processing lines. However, all potential advantages of TFH can be realized in practice only by optimal design of the inductor shape using numerical modelling and optimization techniques. This paper aims to describe a hierarchical approach to the optimal design of a one-sided induction coil, which will be used for one-sided TFH of continuous moving thin metal strip to achieve a homogeneous temperature distribution along the strip width.
Design/methodology/approach
Depending on the design step, 2D or 3D FEM simulations using ANSYS® Mechanical including the electromagnetics package are used. The harmonic electromagnetic solution is coupled to a transient thermal model which takes the strip movement into account. All models use the symmetries of the inductor workpiece arrangement to keep the calculation times as low as possible.
Findings
Due to the geometry of a TFH coil, the models can image a quarter or half of the arrangement. Preliminary investigations of different inductor head shapes can be carried out quickly and then further improved on more complex models in combination with the use of optimization algorithms.
Practical implications
Using hierarchical structure for designing a one-sided TFH coil, offers an efficient and quick way to create a coil which is adapted to the application.
Originality/value
The one-sided inductor design is considered, and the results are generally valid.
