Abstract
Purpose
This study explores the implementation of personalised information access, driven by machine learning, in Nigerian public libraries. The purpose of this paper is to address existing challenges, enhance the user experience and bridge the digital divide by leveraging advanced technologies.
Design/methodology/approach
This study assesses the current state of Nigerian public libraries, emphasising challenges such as underfunding and lack of technology adoption. It proposes the integration of machine learning to provide personalised recommendations, predictive analytics for collection development and improved information retrieval processes.
Findings
The findings underscore the transformative potential of machine learning in Nigerian public libraries, offering tailored services, optimising resource allocation and fostering inclusivity. Challenges, including financial constraints and ethical considerations, are acknowledged.
Originality/value
This study contributes to the literature by outlining strategies for responsible implementation and emphasising transparency, user consent and diversity. The research highlights future directions, anticipating advancements in recommendation systems and collaborative efforts for impactful solutions.

Abstract
Purpose
This study explores the pivotal role of artificial intelligence (AI) in revolutionizing knowledge organization within Nigerian libraries. The purpose of this study is to assess the challenges faced by these libraries, propose strategic approaches for successful AI integration and highlight the potential benefits and future directions of this transformative journey.
Design/methodology/approach
This study uses a comprehensive review of existing literature, case studies and a qualitative analysis of challenges faced by Nigerian libraries. Strategies for AI integration are proposed based on targeted capacity building, collaborative partnerships and phased implementation approaches. The methodology also involves assessing the current landscape of AI in Nigerian academic libraries, examining applications and exploring the perceived impacts of AI on library services.
Findings
Nigerian libraries face challenges such as limited resources, outdated systems and diverse information that hinder traditional knowledge organization methods. The integration of AI offers dynamic solutions, streamlining administrative tasks, optimizing search algorithms and enhancing user engagement. The findings of this study emphasize the potential benefits of AI, including improved accessibility, searchability and long-term efficiency gains in library collections.
Originality/value

Purpose
This study aims to explore the pivotal role of libraries in combating misinformation and disinformation in the contemporary information landscape, emphasizing their significance as guardians of information integrity.
Design/methodology/approach
Drawing on a review of literature and surveying librarian perspectives, this study examines the multifaceted strategies used by libraries to address misinformation and disinformation. It delves into the roles of librarians in distinguishing between different forms of false information, promoting information literacy and fostering community engagement.
Findings
Libraries serve as bastions of knowledge, curating diverse and reliable resources while actively combating false information through educational initiatives, technological innovations and community outreach. Librarians play a crucial role in empowering users with the skills to critically evaluate information and navigate the complexities of the digital age.
Originality/value
This study contributes to the scholarly discourse by highlighting the evolving role of libraries as guardians of information integrity in the face of misinformation and disinformation. The study uses a literature review to analyze existing research on Leveraging digital twin technology in the preservation of indigenous knowledge systems. It synthesizes key findings and identifies trends, challenges and opportunities for further exploration.

This study uses a comprehensive approach, synthesising existing literature and case studies to gain insights into the adoption of 3D technology in special libraries. It also explores the synergy between 3D technology and artificial intelligence (AI) within library services.

This research uncovers a dynamic landscape in special libraries, marked by a growing embrace of 3D technology. Purpose
This study aims to explore the transformative potential of integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and the metaverse into academic libraries, envisioning a future where personalized, immersive and accessible user experiences redefine the traditional concept of libraries. The purpose is to analyse the synergy between AI and the metaverse in enhancing library services and user interactions.
Design/methodology/approach
The study uses a literature review approach to synthesize current knowledge on AI, the metaverse and their integration into academic libraries. It delves into the functionalities of AI in cataloguing, personalization and predictive analysis, coupled with the immersive experiences offered by the metaverse. The design envisions metaverse-infused academic libraries as digital spaces hosting AI-driven virtual assistants, personalized learning paths and collaborative environments.
Findings
The integration of AI and the metaverse in academic libraries presents opportunities for personalized learning experiences, efficient resource management and global collaboration. The findings suggest that the synergy enhances accessibility, inclusivity and efficiency in library services, albeit with challenges such as the digital divide, privacy concerns and technical complexities.

This study aims to explore the potential use of drones in special library services, aiming to enhance accessibility, services and reliability. It examines how drones can provide library materials to individuals unable to access traditional services and addresses challenges associated with drone implementation.
Design/methodology/approach
This study involves a literature review and case studies to analyze the feasibility and benefits of incorporating drones into special libraries. This study also discusses the synergy between drone technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in enhancing library operations.
Findings
Drones have the potential to transform special libraries by automating tasks, improving efficiency and expanding outreach. Their application ranges from inventory management and book retrieval to security, surveillance and outreach initiatives. AI-powered drones can provide real-time data on library usage and enhance cost-effectiveness. However, challenges including costs, privacy concerns and regulatory frameworks need to be addressed.
Originality/value
The integration of drones and AI in special library services presents a novel approach to revolutionizing library operations. This study uniquely combines these technologies, emphasizing the importance of proactive consideration of challenges and prospects for successful implementation.
