Abstract
Four paint compositions were prepared, two of them based on vinyl copolymer as a binder and the other contain boiled oil in presence or absence of soluble resin material. Boiled oil based paints meet the most anticorrosion action and film property. Also, the anticorrosion potential of the paints depend on the type of ingredients and their ratio in the dry paint films.

Abstract
Three thiosemicarbazone derivatives were synthesised: p‐chlorobenzylideneamino thiosemicarbazone, p‐itrobenzylideneamino thiosemicarbazone and p‐N,N ′‐dimethylminobenzylideneamino thiosemicarbazone. The structures of these compounds were characterised by elemental analysis, IR, 1H NMR and UV spectral measurements. The antifouling properties of the compounds were evaluated through the incorporation of each compound in a marine coating system and testing the system in Alexandria Eastern Harbour water. The results are discussed in the light of the leaching rate of the compounds from their paint films, and their interaction with paint matrix.

Abstract
The effectiveness of bisquaternary ammonium salt N,N′‐Bis(dodecyldimethyl)‐3‐oxa‐1,5‐ pentanediammonium dichloride used as corrosion inhibitor for carbon steel in 1.0 M HCl was investigated by weight loss and electrochemical techniques. Surfaces were characterised by scanning electron microscopy. The performance of the bisquaternary ammonium salt was also compared with that of urotropine, a commercial corrosion inhibitor for acid media in industry practice. The results showed good inhibiting action of the inhibitor. The inhibition efficiency increases with the inhibitor concentration but is temperature–independent. N,N′‐Bis(dodecyldimethyl)‐3‐oxa‐1,5‐pentanediammonium dichloride acts mainly as a mixed‐type inhibitor. The inhibition of this bisquaternary ammonium compound was assumed to occur via adsorption of the inhibitor molecule on the metal surface without affecting the corrosion mechanisms. The adsorption of the inhibitor on the metal surface in HCl solution was found to obey Frumkin's isotherm.

Abstract
The anticorrosive action of the two compounds: 4‐(p‐chlorobenzylidene‐amino)‐3‐hydrazino‐5‐thio‐1,2, 4‐triazole (I) and 4‐(p‐chloro‐benzylideneamino)‐3‐(p‐chlorobenzy‐lidenehydrazino)‐5‐thio‐1,2,4‐triazole (II) against marine corrosion have been tested using four different marine paint compositions containing the compounds. The paints were applied on steel panels and tested in a sea‐water medium. The same paint formulations were tested for antifouling activity by applying the paints containing the compounds on PVC panels and immersing them in the water of Alexandria western harbour. The formulations based on compounds (I) showed better steel protection than their analogue containing compound (II), and protect their surfaces from marine corrosion for about seven months.
