Abstract
Purpose
There are many areas of research that are untapped in Islamic banking, and human capital is one of them. This paper aims to systematical review the relevant literature on human capital and Islamic banking.
Design/methodology/approach
The review process involved a structured search using well-established academic databases, Scopus and Web of Science, resulting in the selection of relevant articles. The paper has been divided into three major themes, besides other discussions on the literature, including methods of measuring human capital, determinants of human capital and human capital and performance of Islamic banks.
Findings
A few pioneering studies have explicitly examined human capital in the Islamic banking domain, while others have encompassed it under the broader umbrella of intellectual capital. The most common method of measuring human capital is accounting based, while few have adopted disclosure and survey methods as well. There are few studies that explored the determinants of human capital having focus on corporate governance, while many of the studies have explored the nexus of human capital and financial performance.
Practical implications
This review strongly highlights the need for more focused research on human capital within the Islamic banking sector. As Islamic banking necessitates unique human capital characteristics, it is essential to delve deeper into this aspect. Furthermore, there is a call to expand the human capital index by incorporating comprehensive aspects relevant to Islamic banking. An important area that requires further exploration is the role of Shariah governance in shaping human capital development within Islamic finance, understanding the reasons behind the observed negative correlation.
Originality/value
Despite its significance, the relationship between human capital and Islamic banking has received limited attention. This review paper not only addresses this gap but also lays the groundwork for future studies in this important and emerging field.

This study aims to investigate the determinants of meta-commerce (metaverse commerce) adoption intention from the consumer perspective.
Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to investigate the determinants of meta-commerce (metaverse commerce) adoption intention from the consumer perspective.
Design/methodology/approach
This research conducted a quantitative cross-sectional field survey to gather primary data from consumers in Jordan. The study aimed to analyze the adoption of meta-commerce from the consumer perspective. The survey collected responses from 574 participants, and the obtained data set was subjected to rigorous analysis using SmartPLS4 to test the proposed hypotheses.
Findings
While perceived herd behavior, consumer innovativeness, perceived ease of use, hedonic motivation and perceived usefulness positively influence consumers’ meta-commerce adoption intention, perceived cyber risks negatively influence it. Furthermore, perceived herd behavior and consumer innovativeness positively affect ease of use and usefulness perceptions.
Originality/value
This study presents a significant theoretical contribution by examining meta-commerce adoption from the consumer’s perspective, addressing a gap in the literature. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is one of the first empirical investigations to explore meta-commerce adoption intentions from the consumer standpoint. Furthermore, it provides a novel extension of the “Technology Acceptance Model” for understanding meta-commerce adoption intention that captures the interplay between enablers (perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness), barriers (perceived cyber risks), intrinsic motivation (hedonic motivation), social factors (perceived herd behavior) and personal characteristics (consumer innovativeness), thereby extending previous research on the effects of these factors on the adoption of meta-commerce.

Abstract
Consumer behavior has evolved because of technological development. Nowadays, consumers carry out the different stages of the decision-making process by combining multiple devices which has been defined as multi, cross and omnichannel behavior. These behaviors have attracted the attention of academics and become a hot topic in literature. As a result, vast amounts of studies on the subject need to be revised and clarified. Thus, the aim of this chapter is to synthetize the primary academic literature that analyzes multi, cross and omnichannel behavior from the consumer point of view. To do that, first, the main concepts (multi, cross and omnichannel) and their differences are clarified. Second, the major findings of channel mix literature regarding the topics, channel scope and theories are exposed and described. Third, the opportunities and future lines of research are presented. This chapter contributes to the literature by clarifying the conceptualization of multi, cross and omnichannel behaviors; offering a complete picture of the main topics, channel approaches and theories addressed in channel mix literature; and presenting future research opportunities and open research questions in a channel mix context that could serve as a starting point to build further research.
