Abstract
Introduction: In this study, approaches based on right-tail unit root tests are used to analyze high-frequency time series. Although these approaches successfully capture unusually extreme price movements (bubbles) in financial markets, they can be biased in policymaking and forecasting. Testing the parameter stability enables the detection of both unusual price behavior and possible change points within the framework of the volatility approach. The break dates that cause the parameter change on the return series can be obtained, and the differentiation in the period can be seen.
Purpose: In this study, the analysis of periods that differ from the “changing parameter values” of the volatility process that emerged after November 2018 in the Borsa Istanbul (BIST) is made by using a new econometric approach in terms of change dates, parameter stability, and explosiveness characteristics. In this way, starting from determining periods with stable parameter values, the volatility process is tested to decide whether or not it shows an explosive feature.
Methodology: This study’s mainstay was published in February 2023. The findings reached within the framework of the knowledge provided by the technique in question will be the first in the applied literature. We used a uniform test for a mildly explosive GARCH process with double supreme statistics for BIST.
Findings: BIST is significantly affected by social and political events. This result implies that the “semi-efficient” market hypothesis for BIST needs to be re-examined in this context.

Abstract
Purpose
Globally, information and communication technology (ICT) is regarded as a reliable tool that facilitates economic development and propels sustainable development. However, little empirical work exists on the specific effects of ICT access and usage on economic and sustainable development. This paper aims to investigate the nexus between ICTs, economic and sustainable development at the global level.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper presents ICT for Development (ICT4D) value chain empirical evidence on the linkages between ICTs, economic development and sustainable development goals (SDGs). The research model based on the capability approach is validated by using archival data from 130 global countries and partial least squares–structural equation modelling.
Findings
The findings reveal that ICT access and usage significantly influence a country’s attainment of the SDGs. Whilst ICT access plays a crucial role in promoting economic development, ICT usage does not. Also, findings show that economic development significantly mediated the nexus between ICT access and SDGs but not between ICT usage and SDGs. This calls for countries to ensure that access to ICTs is accompanied by a low cost of usage to achieve the full benefits of economic and sustainable development.
Originality/value
Using the ICT4D value chain, this paper empirically shows how ICT readiness and availability in the form of ICT access and ICT uptake (individual ICT use) promote economic development and SDGs (impact). Furthermore, with many studies conducted on SDGs at the country level, this study provides a broader understanding of the roles of ICT access and use on SDGs at the global level. This allows for easy generalisability and reproducibility of results.

Abstract
Purpose: This chapter uses the annual time series data to investigate how currency depreciation impacts inflation in Sri Lanka.
Design/methodology/approach: We utilized the autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) test to evaluate the long-term correlation between the variables. Additionally, the Granger causality test was used to examine the short-term relationships.
Findings: The ARDL test findings indicate an elevated relationship between currency depreciation and long-term inflation in Sri Lanka. The coefficient value of the error correction term indicates that 1.19% of the discrepancy error is rectified each year, directing the inflation response variable toward the long-term equilibrium.
Policy Implication: The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) should adopt a policy to tighten and lessen currency pressure and fend off inflationary pressure. To design appropriate policies, they must quantify the country’s exchange rate (ER) pass-through to inflation. The pass-through to inflation is most prominent when monetary policy action triggers or amplifies currency movements. However, this pass-through to inflation can be kept smaller provided central banks follow a credible inflation-targeting framework, operate in a flexible ER period, and are accessible from influences from fiscal authorities in the country.
Originality/value: This study uses the recently established ARDL limits cointegration approaches to investigate the enduring association between currency devaluation and price stability in Sri Lanka.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to examine how a clinical interview protocol with failure artifact scenarios can capture changes in high school students’ explanations of troubleshooting processes in physical computing activities. The authors focus on physical computing, as finding and fixing hardware and software bugs is a highly contextual practice that involves multiple interconnected domains and skills.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper developed and piloted a “failure artifact scenarios” clinical interview protocol. Youth were presented with buggy physical computing projects over video calls and asked for suggestions on how to fix them without having access to the actual project or its code. Authors applied this clinical interview protocol before and after an eight-week-long physical computing (more specifically, electronic textiles) unit. They analyzed matching pre- and post-interviews from 18 students at four different schools.
Findings
The findings demonstrate how the protocol can capture change in students’ thinking about troubleshooting by eliciting students’ explanations of specificity of domain knowledge of problems, multimodality of physical computing, iterative testing of failure artifact scenarios and concreteness of troubleshooting and problem-solving processes.
Originality/value
Beyond tests and surveys used to assess debugging, which traditionally focus on correctness or student beliefs, the “failure artifact scenarios” clinical interview protocol reveals student troubleshooting-related thinking processes when encountering buggy projects. As an assessment tool, it may be useful to evaluate the change and development of students’ abilities over time.

Abstract
Governments worldwide are placing a greater emphasis on enhancing ecology and the environment as a result of escalating ecological issues. One possible approach is sustainable governance. This chapter explores the interrelated roles of internal control, environmental accounting, and environmental auditing mechanisms in promoting sustainable governance and green transformation. By looking at these three aspects, the chapter illustrates how integrated approaches can promote sustainable practices and guarantee adherence to environmental standards. The objective of this chapter is to present a thorough knowledge of the ways in which these components work together to support sustainability as a whole.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this article is to examine the effects of green internal orientation and external orientation on firm performance and to evaluate the mediating role of green absorptive capacity in this effect. It also investigates the moderating role of environmental culture in the relationship between green absorptive capacity and firm performance.
Design/methodology/approach
This study was conducted based on field research with surveys conducted on 343 technology-oriented companies operating in Istanbul. SmartPLS 4 statistical software was used to analyze the data.
Findings
Research results show that green internal and external orientation has a positive and significant effect on firm performance. Additionally, green absorptive capacity has a mediating role in this effect. It has been determined that environmental culture plays a moderating role in the relationship between green absorptive capacity and firm performance.
Research limitations/implications
This study has some limitations; for example, the fact that the data was obtained only from technology-focused companies in Istanbul may limit generalizability. However, this research makes important contributions to our understanding of the effects of green internal and external orientation on firm performance and the mediating effect of green absorptive capacity.
Practical implications
This study shows that strengthening businesses’ green internal and external orientations and improving their green absorptive capacity can increase firm performance. It is also an important warning to businesses that environmental culture can play an important role in these relationships.
Social implications
Strengthening green internal and external orientation and improving green absorptive capacity can provide social benefits through their contributions to environmental sustainability. This study can help businesses take steps to reduce their environmental impact and achieve a sustainable future.
Originality/value
This study is one of the few studies examining the effects of green internal and external orientation on firm performance and the mediating role of green absorptive capacity. Additionally, it makes a unique contribution by focusing on the moderating role of environmental culture in these relationships. This study can be a valuable guide for businesses in developing environmental sustainability strategies.

Abstract
Purpose
In this study, we propose that a contemporary definition of lifelong development, based on scientific literature and qualitative research in 12 Dutch organisations, be applied. This definition integrates several different perspectives on lifelong learning.
Design/methodology/approach
To begin with, a conceptual definition was formulated in collaboration with partners and experts from the field. After that, 34 interviews were conducted consisting of one employee, one manager and one human resource (HR) officer from each participating organisation. This was done using an epistemic interview method.
Findings
From our findings, we conclude that lifelong development is regarded and practised differently by the various respondents; lifelong development is aimed at achieving personal or organisational goals and mutual interests are rarely addressed. However, there seems to be a growing recognition of the importance of integrating the two perspectives.
Originality/value
In order to promote a dialogue regarding stakeholder perspectives, we propose that a definition of lifelong development be applied, one that combines the economic and the more psychological meaning-making perspectives. In doing so, attention should not only be paid to current goals but also to the future goals of individuals and organisations so that future developments can be anticipated. This will then serve as a point of departure for further research and (inter)national, regional and organisational practice.
