Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of the study is to test the precursors of presenteeism. The research has examined the relationship between workplace bullying and presenteeism via depression and anxiety. Furthermore, moderating the role of toxic leadership is also investigated which may strengthen or weaken workplace bullying and mental health relationships.

Design/methodology/approach

The mediations and moderation models were tested in SPSS software through the Preacher and Hayes PROCESS macro technique. Data was gathered from 165 employees, working in public and private universities of Pakistan.

Findings

The results supported that depression and anxiety act as mediators in the relationship between bullying and presenteeism. Further, toxic leadership moderated the relationship between bullying and depression, bullying and anxiety.

Originality/value

As per the author’s knowledge, rare studies have determined that bullying can increase mental health issues and presenteeism in employees. Bullying and toxic leadership together increase the loss of psychological resources that force employees to work while feeling sick.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of green technology innovation on sustainability performance with the moderating effect of innovation capabilities in the Malaysian manufacturing listed companies.

Design/methodology/approach

This was a quantitative study and carried out by applying a research survey. The questionnaire was used to collect the data from 204 Malaysian manufacturing companies of the “consumer products and services” sector listed at Bursa Malaysia, incorporating a five-point Likert scale. All the hypothesized relationships were tested by using the partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM).

Findings

The empirical results showed that the comprehensive adoption of green technology innovation significantly promotes sustainability performance including economic, environmental and social performance. In addition, innovation capabilities significantly and positively moderate the relationship between green technology innovation and sustainability performance.

Research limitations/implications

The scope of this study is specifically confined to the Malaysian manufacturing listed companies, operating within the consumer products and services sector listed at Bursa Malaysia. Consequently, the findings of this study may not be generalized to manufacturing companies of the different geographical contexts.

Practical implications

The findings of this study may help the top management and policymakers of the Malaysian manufacturing listed companies to scrutinize green technology innovation and innovation capabilities to achieve higher sustainability performance.

Originality/value

This study magnifies and provides new insights into the extant literature by developing a comprehensive research model that concurrently tests the direct and moderation effects between green technology innovation, innovation capabilities and sustainability performance. Additionally, this is the first study to examine the influence of green technology innovation on sustainability performance with the moderating effect of innovation capabilities in the Malaysian manufacturing listed companies. This distinct approach significantly bolsters the originality of this study.

Abstract

Purpose

Nanofluids enhance heat transfer due to the inclusion of nanoparticles, but the exact reasons remain debated. Limited nanoscale experiments hinder understanding. To investigate the thermal effects of nanoparticles, understanding nanoparticle aggregation kinetics is crucial. Nanoparticles have applications in various industrial fields. This study compares the effects of nanoparticle aggregation and non-aggregation in a nanofluid flow influenced by an inclined magnetic field around an expanding or shrinking cylinder, incorporating the generalized Fourier law with a prescribed surface temperature.

Design/methodology/approach

The model problem is solved numerically with the bvp4c finite difference collocation method, known for its accuracy.

Findings

Graphs and tables illustrate how key factors affect velocity and thermal fields. The results revealed that for stretching flows, fluid velocity increases with higher nanoparticle concentrations and velocity slip, while shrinking flows show opposite trends. The drag force decreases with rising Hartmann numbers and nanoparticle volume fraction, irrespective of aggregation. Surface drag is more affected by aggregation than non-aggregation in both shrinking and expanding cases. The study also validates the proposed model.

Originality/value

Before this, numerous attempts discussed aggregation and non-aggregation separately on a deforming cylinder. Nevertheless, no study has yet assessed the impact of a slanted magnetic field on comparing the effects of nanoparticle aggregation versus non-aggregation in nanoliquid flow over a deformable or shrinking cylinder. This seems to be the first attempt to compare nanoparticle aggregation versus non-aggregation in nanoliquid flow.

Abstract

Purpose

Healthcare has been facing rising challenges in recent years. To mitigate these issues, an appreciable amount of effort has been invested in studies about Healthcare 4.0. Despite the recognized importance of this topic, its recentness and multidisciplinary character are obstacles to its precise understanding. In this light, this paper aims to provide a comprehensive view of the current development of Healthcare 4.0.

Design/methodology/approach

We systematically reviewed the literature, which resulted in 130 papers retrieved from the Web of Science and Scopus databases. Quantitative and qualitative analyses were carried out using this sample.

Findings

As a result of the quantitative analysis, we notice an increasing trend in health-related studies, notwithstanding its novelty. India is also recognized as the leading reference on the subject, as it is the country with more papers in the sample and the most influential authors. On the other hand, through qualitative analysis, an extensive review and analysis of the technologies and applications of Healthcare 4.0 is presented, along with a discussion of its underexplored areas.

Originality/value

The results of this paper provide valuable knowledge to guide and encourage further analysis on this topic, including recommendations for future research directions.
