Abstract
Purpose
This study aimed to examine the impact of learning organization (LO) on job satisfaction and individual performance in Vietnamese enterprises. The study further explores the mediating effect of job satisfaction on the relationship between learning organization and employee performance.
Design/methodology/approach
Data were collected from 653 employees from various types of organizations in Vietnam. Structural equation modeling was implemented to test the hypotheses.
Findings
The results revealed that the proposed research model was supported. Results indicated that LOs positively influenced employees’ job satisfaction and the broader range of their individual performance. In addition, employees’ job satisfaction motivated them to achieve higher performance levels. The study also found a mediating effect of job satisfaction on the relationship between LO and employee performance. The results underscore the importance of implementing an LO culture for individual outcomes such as job satisfaction and employee performance in the Vietnamese cultural context, which is based on socialism and Confucianism.
Originality/value
To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first study to examine the relationships among LO, job satisfaction and individual employee performance in the Vietnamese context. The results offer a deeper understanding of the LO concept in the Vietnamese cultural context and highlight the cultural impact on the LO concept and its effects. The results suggest how the LO concept is applied in the Vietnamese context.

Abstract
Purpose
This research tests how the social context of meals influences the sense of responsibility for serving healthy meals and food choices, taking into account the role of gender.
Design/methodology/approach
An online between-subject scenario experiment was conducted with parents of young children (under 12 years old) in Flanders, Belgium (N = 288, 67.4% women). Participants envisioned serving and consuming food in three social contexts: alone, with core family members, or with peers.
Findings
The social context in which meals take place significantly influences participants’ sense of responsibility for serving healthy meals, which influences their food choices. Moreover, the influence of the social context varies by gender. Women feel more responsible for serving healthy meals than men when eating alone or among core family members. Men feel more responsible for serving healthy meals when eating with others, irrespective of whether these others are core family members or peers, than when eating alone.
Practical implications
One’s sense of responsibility serves as a significant positive determinant in making healthy food choices. However, this sense is context dependent. In a family context, and irrespective of gender, sense of responsibility correlates only weakly to moderately with the perceived healthfulness of food choices. Consequently, the question arises as to whether emphasizing responsibility is the most effective strategy for promoting healthy food choices.
Originality/value
This paper provides new insights into how the social context shapes parents’ sense of responsibility for serving healthy meals and how this, in turn, affects food choices.

Purpose
This paper aims to study the influence of different seal structure parameters and working conditions on the air-oil two-phase flow characteristics and leakage characteristics of the seal cavity in the bearing cavity of the aero-engine spindle bearing tester.
Design/methodology/approach
In this paper, the VOF method and RNG k-ε turbulence model are used to explore the flow characteristics and leakage characteristics of the labyrinth seal cavity of an aero-engine spindle bearing tester under the condition of air-oil two-phase flow.
Findings
The distribution of the lubricating oil is related to the sealing clearance and the air-oil ratio. The amount of oil leakage increases with increasing of sealing chamber clearance, air-oil ratio and inlet velocity and decreases with increasing curvature and speed. The amount of air leakage increases with sealing clearance and inlet velocity.
Originality/value
In comparison to the pure air-phase flow field, the air-oil two-phase flow field can more accurately simulate the lubricating oil flow in the sealing chamber.

Purpose
As China is on an inevitable march into the digital era, firms have accumulated abundant digital assets, such as algorithms and data. Facing the possibility of using digital assets as a new type input, besides traditional inputs such as capital and labor, would powerful managers perform better? Would managerial power help managers increase the efficiency of how a firm combines traditional and digital inputs and converts them into outputs? Thus, the purpose of this study is to investigate whether powerful managers promotes corporate productivity by using digital assets as a new input.
Design/methodology/approach
Using data from listed Chinese firms between 2008 and 2020, the authors constructed panel regressions with three-way fixed effects to examine whether and how managerial power influences corporate productivity in the current digital context, particularly under market uncertainty.
Findings
The findings reveal no consistent relationship between managerial power and corporate productivity. The results explain this from two contrasting effects: while managerial power promotes technological change it hinders technical efficiency – two components of total productivity. Moreover, this study identifies market uncertainty as a significant external contingency. In uncertain markets, strong managerial power positively impacts corporate productivity.
Originality/value
The results extend extant theoretical insights in the literature on how managerial power might influence corporate productivity.

Abstract
Purpose
This study’s aim is to introduce a high-performance sorbent for the removal of both anionic (Congo red; CR) and cationic (methylene blue; MB) dyes from aqueous solutions.
Design/methodology/approach
Sodium silicate is adopted as a substrate for GO and AgNPs with positive charge are used as modifiers. The synthesized nanocomposite is characterized by FTIR, FESEM, EDS, BET and XRD techniques. Then, some of the most effective parameters on the removal of CR and MB dyes such as solution pH, sorbent dose, adsorption equilibrium time, primary dye concentration and salt effect are optimized using the spectrophotometry technique.
Findings
The authors successfully achieved notable maximum adsorption capacities (Qmax) of CR and MB, which were 41.15 and 37.04 mg g−1, respectively. The required equilibrium times for maximum efficiency of the developed sorbent were 10 and 15 min for CR and MB dyes, respectively. Adsorption equilibrium data present a good correlation with Langmuir isotherm, with a correlation coefficient of R2 = 0.9924 for CR and R2 = 0.9904 for MB, and kinetic studies prove that the dye adsorption process follows pseudo second-order models (CR R2 = 0.9986 and MB R2 = 0.9967).
Practical implications
The results showed that the proposed mechanism for the function of the developed sorbent in dye adsorption was based on physical and multilayer adsorption for both dyes onto the active sites of non-homogeneous sorbent.
Originality/value
The as-prepared nano-adsorbent has a high ability to remove both cationic and anionic dyes; moreover, to the high efficiency of the adsorbent, it has been tried to make its synthesis steps as simple as possible using inexpensive and available materials.

Purpose
Although the impact of carbon emissions regulations is evident to upstream automakers, their influence on downstream B2C car-sharing platforms remains unclear. This article reveals the influence of carbon emission regulations on the performance of supply chain members. In particular, we focused on the decision of B2C car-sharing platforms.
Design/methodology/approach
We develop a three-stage dynamic game model consisting of an automaker, a B2C car-sharing platform and consumers.
Findings
The carbon emission cap has a critical threshold. Above this threshold, the regulation is ineffective for the platform’s operating model. Below it, the regulation affects the platform, moderated by customers' green awareness. The threshold initially decreases (weakly) and then increases in awareness. Effective caps reduce profits for the manufacturer, B2C car-sharing platform and supply chain, while ineffective caps see higher profits with increased awareness.
Originality/value
Firstly, this paper explores the impact of carbon emission caps on the operational strategies of B2C car-sharing platforms within the sharing economy, complementing existing research. Secondly, it identifies conditions where stricter caps prompt B2C car-sharing platforms to adjust their operational models and offers fresh insights for managers and departments responsible for carbon emission policy formulation. Thirdly, the study uncovers how carbon emission caps affect the performance of supply chain members, providing crucial managerial insights for sustainable operations.

Purpose
The purpose of this study is to (1) improve the spectral features of the second-order uniformly non-oscillatory (UNO) slope limiters, and (2) numerical simulation of the unified-form of generalized fully-coupled saturated thermo-poro-elastic systems in the axisymmetric cylindrical coordinate via cell-adaptive Kurganov-Tadmor (KT) central high-resolution scheme using the UNO limiters.
Design/methodology/approach
(1) The spectral features of the UNO limiter are improved by compression-adaptive MINMOD (MM) limiters, achieved by blending different types of MM limiters to achieve less numerical dissipation and dispersion. These blended MM limiters preserve the total variation diminishing (TVD) feature over non-uniform non-centered cells. Also, the spectral features of the central schemes using the UNO limiters are investigated. (2) For the thermo-poro-elastic problem, corresponding first-order hyperbolic system is provided, including flux, source, diffusion and nonlinear terms. Where, there are different interacting components in the source and flux terms. The nonlinear terms are also considered by the Picard-like linearization concept.
Findings
Compression-adaptive UNO limiters would be stable over adapted cells with centered and non-centered cells. The benchmarks confirm that both spectral features and numerical accuracy are improved. For the generalized thermo-poro-elastic problem, corresponding responses including the shock waves can properly be captured.
Originality/value
Studying heat effects (e.g. hot fluid or freezing) and explosions on tunnels. Also, the UNO limiters could be used for simulations of various systems of conservation laws.

Purpose
This study aims to address the issue of perfunctory sharing that arises in knowledge governance due to a lack of willingness to share knowledge between individuals within the same organization. This knowledge-sharing process does not occur simultaneously for both parties but follows a sequential progression. Additionally, this governance model fully considers the willingness of both parties to share and effectively addresses the two knowledge characteristics that influence their willingness to do so.
Design/methodology/approach
This study follows inductive logic and primarily adopts an interpretive case study approach to conduct a longitudinal exploratory case study. An incubator enterprise with active knowledge-sharing activities and significant knowledge governance effects is selected as the research subject. The governance system is explained through the lens of prospect theory at the mechanism level.
Findings
In the study of the knowledge-sharing process, the authors observed a new challenge: perfunctory behavior, whereby individuals engage in knowledge-sharing activities that lack substantial effects as a way to avoid genuine sharing. From this, a new knowledge-sharing model was extracted, the cold start and hot feedback model, which follows a sequential (rather than simultaneous) progression. Using the deterministic effect of prospect theory and the principle of reference dependence, the governance mechanism of corporate knowledge sharing was analyzed from the perspective of knowledge-sharing willingness.
Research limitations/implications
Based on prospect theory, this study primarily explains how the governance mechanism influences the willingness to share knowledge from the perspective of four principles. In the future, threat rigidity theory and commitment escalation theory can be combined to further analyze the willingness to share knowledge from the perspectives of pressure and cost. Empirical research methods can also be used to test and enrich the research results of this paper.
Originality/value
After considering the willingness to share knowledge, a new knowledge-sharing model and corresponding knowledge-sharing governance model are proposed, and prospect theory is extended to the knowledge-based theory research field.

Purpose
With respect to severe working conditions such as heavy load and impact, this paper aims to investigate the friction reduction and anti-wear performance of kaolin and molybdenum dialkyl dithiophosphate (MoDDP) composite lubricant additives to improve the lubrication effect of a single additive.
Design/methodology/approach
A four-ball friction test was carried out to determine the optimal concentration of kaolin and organic molybdenum additives and the tribological properties of the kaolin/MoDDP composite lubricant additives. A ring block test of composite lubricant additives was designed to investigate its lubrication performance under the severe working conditions of low speed, heavy load and impact.
Findings
The results showed that the optimal addition mass fractions of kaolin and MoDDP were 4.0 and 1.5 Wt.%, respectively, when kaolin and MoDDP were used as single lubricant additives. Compared with the single additive, the 4.0 Wt.% kaolin/1.5 Wt.% MoDDP composite lubricant additive showed excellent friction reduction and anti-wear effects under heavy load and impact conditions. Physicochemical analysis of the wear surface revealed that the lamellar kaolin additive and MoDDP had excellent synergistic effects, and the friction process promoted the generation of lubricant films containing a chemically reactive layer of MoS2, MoO2, FeS2 and Fe2O3 and a physically adsorbent layer containing SiO2 and Al2O3, which play important roles in anti-wear and friction reduction.
Originality/value
The excellent friction reduction and anti-wear effects of lamellar silicate minerals and the excellent antioxidant properties and good synergistic effects of molybdenum were comprehensively used to develop the composite additives with great lubricating properties.

Linear projects often involve lengthy construction periods, necessitating dynamic adjustments to the plan. Completely rescheduling remaining activities every time can lead to unnecessary time and cost wastage and significant deviations in resource supply. To address these issues, this paper proposes a dynamic scheduling method designed to effectively manage both time and cost during construction projects.
Design/methodology/approach
Determining the rescheduling frequency through a hybrid driving strategy and buffer mechanism, introducing rolling window technology to determine the scope of local rescheduling and constructing a local rescheduling model under the constraints of time and cost deviation with the objective of minimizing the cost. Combined decision-making for construction and rushing modes constrained by multiple construction scenarios. Opposite learning is introduced to optimize the hybrid algorithm solution.
Findings
Arithmetic examples and cases confirm the model’s feasibility and applicability. The results indicate that (1) continuous rescheduling throughout project construction is essential and effective and (2) a well-structured buffer mechanism can prevent redundant rescheduling and enhance overall control of cost and schedule deviations.
Originality/value
This study introduces an innovative dynamic scheduling framework for linear engineering, offering a method for effectively controlling schedule deviations during construction. The developed model enhances rescheduling efficiency and introduces a combined quantization strategy to increase the model’s applicability to linear engineering. This model emerges as a promising decision support tool, facilitating the implementation of sustainable construction scheduling practices.
