Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to investigate the effect of top management team (TMT) stability on outward foreign direct investment (OFDI) of Chinese firms and the moderating effects of state ownership and managerial ownership on this relationship.
Design/methodology/approach
An empirical analysis based on the ordinary least square regression model is conducted using Chinese A-share listed firms that engaged in OFDI from 2008 to 2021.
Findings
TMT stability has a positive effect on firms’ OFDI. Moreover, state ownership significantly strengthens the positive relationship between TMT stability and OFDI, while managerial ownership weakens this positive relationship.
Practical implications
The findings help firms to effectively retain TMT talents and promote the smooth internationalization of firms, thereby enhancing their long-term development capabilities and competitive advantages.
Originality/value
This study expands the investigation of the factors influencing OFDI at the micro level of the TMT, providing valuable decision-making insights for firms.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to investigate the interrelationship among consumers, celebrities and brands within social media environments. It proposes a theoretical framework based on an integrative approach that combines parasocial relationship theory and the meaning transfer model.
Design/methodology/approach
This study collected data from 342 Generation Z fans, and structural equation modeling was used for the analysis.
Findings
The results revealed that social media use strongly affects celebrity worship, but its impacts on brand love and online brand advocacy are weak. Celebrity worship significantly influences brand love; however, the relationship with online brand advocacy is nonsignificant, highlighting the crucial mediating role of brand love. The mediating effects of celebrity worship and brand love significantly strengthened the relationship between social media use and online brand advocacy.
Originality/value
By using an integrative approach, this study advances the understanding of the dynamics of consumer–brand relationships, revealing the serial mediating path that highlights the roles of celebrity worship and brand love.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to investigate the impact of news quality on users’ risk perceptions toward online news and its subsequent influence on perceived believability and user engagement in sharing news. Additionally, we explore the moderating effects of fake news awareness and social tie variety.
Design/methodology/approach
Drawing upon the social amplification of risk framework, this study investigates the relationship between news quality and users’ news-sharing behaviors, along with its underlying mechanism. An online questionnaire involving 399 eligible participants was employed for hypotheses testing, and the structural equation model served as the main analytical method.
Findings
The influence of news quality on users’ news-sharing behavior is sequentially mediated by risk perception and perceived believability. Individuals with a heightened awareness of fake news or a diverse social tie are more inclined to perceive greater risks associated with news-sharing behavior and question news authenticity.
Originality/value
This study contributes to the existing literature on users’ news-sharing behaviors by examining the influence of risk perception on the relationship between news quality, perceived believability and users’ news-sharing behavior. Additionally, it explores the moderating effects of fake news awareness and social tie variety. Our findings offer valuable insights into comprehending user inclinations towards news sharing and mitigating the dissemination of fake news.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study was to explore Taiwanese consumers attitudes toward upcycled food as a viable and economically sustainable solution to food waste within the context of global environmental pressures caused by the food system. This study applied the theory of planned behavior (TPB) and the value-attitude-behavior (VAB) model to explore the factors shaping consumer behavior toward upcycled food.
Design/methodology/approach
A survey was conducted using convenience sampling to collect 295 valid responses from Taiwanese consumers. The questionnaire was designed to measure the relationships among dietary values, moral attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control and consumers intentions toward the consumption of upcycled food. The data were analyzed using statistical methods to verify the hypotheses derived from the TPB and VAB models.
Findings
The findings revealed that dietary values significantly influence moral attitudes, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control, highlighting their pivotal role in consumer behavior toward upcycled food. Moral attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, perceived responsibility and thriftiness were positively associated with the intention to consume upcycled food, indicating the potential of these factors in fostering sustainable consumption practices.
Originality/value
This study is unique in its application of the TPB and VAB models to examine the acceptance of upcycled food among Taiwanese consumers, contributing fresh insights into the field of sustainable consumer behavior. This highlights the significance of aligning dietary values and moral attitudes of consumers with sustainable consumption practices, offering a new perspective on promoting upcycled food in Taiwan and potentially in other regions with similar cultural and environmental frameworks.

Purpose
As economies have reopened after the COVID-19 pandemic, resumption of pre-pandemic normalcy in work has not been uniform. For each worker and leader, an essential question is whether the world of work has changed irreversibly, or if prior careers and business models can be resumed. A philosophical inquiry into theories of the world of work provides a framing that separates everyday changes from systems changes.
Design/methodology/approach
A metatheoretical approach to world theories from 1942 is revisited. Attention is drawn to systems of knowledge along the dimensions of analytic-deductive treatments, and dispersive-integrative treatments. Socio-Technical Systems relate to Organicism, and Socio-Ecological Systems relate to Contextualism. Reworking a processual philosophy, an alternative World Hypothesis is proposed.
Findings
(Con)texturalism-dyadicism reframes causal texture theory as (1) rhythmic pacing; (2) dyadic diachrony; and (3) transformative reifying. New insights into the effects with the onset and passing of the pandemic disruption are gained.
Research limitations/implications
Updating systems theories of socio-technical and socio-ecological perspectives invokes a post-colonial constructivist philosophy that appreciates roots in American pragmatism, ecological anthropology, and Chinese philosophy of science. The emphasis of systems rhythms prioritizes a processual orientation, compatible with a yinyang material-immaterial onto-epistemology.
Practical implications
As the world recovers from the disruptions of the COVID-19 pandemic, the changed nature of work is only one of many aspects that been altered. Systems perspectives both of parts inside an organization (i.e. socio-technical individuals in groups) and wholes alongside other wholes (i.e. socio-ecological groups co-responding with their (con)textures) are not independent, but interrelated. Disruption of work systems may result in only incremental adaptation for some, with transformative shifts in world theory for others. Recognizing that organizations change from within, persistent pathologies may be diagnosed.
Originality/value
Systems theories of work from the 1960s were based on pragmatism from the 1940s. The metatheoretical contextualism of Stephen C. Pepper is complemented by a 21st century constructivist philosophy that is post-colonial and non-anthropocentric. Reifying organizational systems theories for audiences founded on a Western philosophy of science requires extended explanations bridging over to a non-Western (i.e. Classical Chinese) lineage.

Purpose
Nano graphitic-carbon nitride (g-C3N4) is an emerging lubrication technology with excellent performance and significant potential for future applications. This study aims to investigate the effect of nano g-C3N4 as a lubricant additive on the wear performance of bearing steel disk.
Design/methodology/approach
Various mass fractions of g-C3N4 were introduced into the base oil. Combining tribological testing, rheological testing and surface analysis methods, the anti-wear properties and lubrication mechanisms were analyzed.
Findings
Transmission electron microscopy images revealed that the size of the nanoparticles of g-C3N4 ranges from 10 to 100 nm. Phase analysis of the g-C3N4 sample was conducted using X-ray diffraction. Further, 1.0% mass fraction of g-C3N4 in the base oil provides excellent anti-wear and friction-reducing performance. Compared to the base oil alone, it reduces the average friction coefficient by 63.8% and decreases the wear rate by 43.1%, significantly reducing the depth and width of the wear scar. Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and scanning electron microscope analysis revealed that the oil sample containing nano g-C3N4 can form a lubricating film on the sliding surface of bearing steel after wear, which enhances the lubricating properties of the base oil.
Originality/value
The synergistic effect of the base oil and nanoparticles reduces friction and wear and is expected to extend the service life of bearing steel. These findings suggest that incorporating nano g-C3N4 as a lubricant additive offers significant potential for improving the performance of mechanical components.

Purpose
Human resources transformation is an essential concept that significantly changes how organizations manage their personnel in an ever-changing business environment. This research intends to explore the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to facilitate human resource (HR) transformation in automobile companies in China.
Design/methodology/approach
The research employs qualitative approaches such as interviews and case studies to gain insights and viewpoints from key stakeholders. The interviews were semi-structured and carried out in person, enabling an in-depth investigation of their experiences and perspectives. The duration of each interview ranged from 30 to 40 minutes.
Findings
The study explored three main themes: employee acceptability, career growth and performance, using system thinking theory. The findings highlight the various effects of AI technology on HR changes in automobile businesses. First, AI helps increase employee approval by simplifying activities and improving user experience. Second, it greatly impacts professional advancement by providing tailored learning and skill-building chances. Third, AI integration has a favorable effect on organizational performance indicators such as efficiency, agility and adaptability.
Practical implications
This research's findings significantly contribute to scholars and practitioners engaged in HR reforms. Comprehending the subtle impacts of AI technology on employee acceptability, career advancement and organizational effectiveness helps guide strategic decision-making. Furthermore, these results emphasize the need to connect AI-based HR initiatives with overall corporate goals to enhance impact and efficiency
Originality/value
This research provides new insights into how AI technologies interface with HR transformation. The study offers a thorough understanding of intricate dynamics and identifies new possibilities for using AI in HR practices via system thinking theory. The research enhances academic discussion on HR transformation in the age of AI-driven innovation.

Purpose
The purpose of this study is to improve the stability and dyeing properties of natural curcumin by adsorption packaging technology, and promote the clean dyeing technology of wool fabrics.
Design/methodology/approach
The response surface method was used to optimize the dyeing process of wool fabrics. The color fastnesses and the K/S value of the dyed wool fabrics were tested and analyzed, as well as the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) observation of wool fibers.
Findings
The mordant dyeing method was optimized using the response surface method under pH 3.5 and a 1:50 dye bath ratio. The results showed that the mordant dyeing method was one-bath, two-step post-mordant and the optimized dyeing process was as follows: dyeing time 70 min, dyeing temperature 70°C and the dosage of mordant was 2% and yielding a K/S value of 35.22. The dyed wool had excellent rub and wash fastness (grade 4+), but inadequate light fastness, to be improved later. The results of SEM demonstrated that the optimized dyeing processes had no adverse effects on wool fibers.
Originality/value
No comprehensive and systematic study reports have been conducted on the dyeing process of wool fabric using natural curcumin pigment, which is adsorbed and packaged by ZIF-8, and researchers have not used statistical analysis to optimize the dyeing process using response surface methodology.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper adds risk perception and personalized human-computer interaction to the technology acceptance model, and further analyzes the impact of personalized unmanned ride hailing on users' behavior intention.
Design/methodology/approach
This study model was tested using a sample of 299 social media users from China and we apply structural equation modeling (SEM) to build the theoretical framework.
Findings
Our results show that perceived ease of use has a greater positive impact on behavior intention compared to perceived usefulness. In addition, we find that the impact of risk perception on behavior intention is manifested in a number of ways, including people’s risk perception of the new technology, people’s risk perception of data leakage, and so on. Finally, we find that users’ personalized human-computer interaction has a positive effect on their perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and behavior intention.
Originality/value
Our study contributes to illuminate the pivotal role of tailoring the human-computer interface to individual preferences and needs for ride-hailing platforms from the perspective of behavior intention.

Abstract
Purpose
This study applies the stimulus-organism-response (SOR) model and the theory of consumption value to examine the effects of natural content, environmental concern, and availability on consumers' willingness to pay a price premium and purchase frequency for organic food. It also ranks the relative importance of these factors and assesses generational differences.
Design/methodology/approach
Using the purposive sampling to survey 435 Gen-Y and Gen-Z consumers in Mainland China. The data were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling.
Findings
The results indicate that natural content, environmental concern, and availability are significant in predicting green consumption value. Additionally, green consumption value significantly affects the willingness to pay a price premium and purchase frequency. Furthermore, the willingness to pay a price premium significantly impacts purchase frequency. Finally, generational differences were confirmed in natural content-green consumption value, green consumption value-purchase frequency linkages.
Originality/value
This study contributes to the organic food literature by exploring how green consumption value influences the willingness to pay a price premium and purchase frequency. Additionally, it enriches the SOR model and the theory of consumption value by identifying generational differences that affect the strength of these relationships.
